Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Gee, I hope Jane’s OK. She looks awful, and I don’t just say that because I think she’s a flake. Not only her hair needs a lift, her whole face does, and I don’t mean a surgical intervention. And her attitude … ?
Brad Wall was fantastic, an eloquent voice for environmental responsibility while, at the same time, promoting the continued and accountable exploitation of Canada’s natural gas resources, for the good of not only Canadians, throughout Canada, but for Americans as well.
Of course, Jane had to show a very negative American ad, “Rethink Alberta,” showing all the worse-case scenarios about the oil sands. I loved Wall’s response: I hope they’re going to do an ad called “Rethink California.”
I’m beginning to wonder why Americans — environmentalists and anti-free speechkins — are sticking their noses into Canadian concerns. Pelosi in Ottawa — and, says Jane, Pelosi’s environmentally sensitive and very popular with environmentalists (unlike Wall, seemed to be the implication) — and Soros in NYC. The leftards are coming! The leftards are coming!
Who gives a crap what Pelosi thinks, she’s a total moron.
If they don’t want oil from Oil sands, we’ll be happy to sell it the Chinese, people who don’t give a crap about global warming because they know its a giant con game.
Oboza, Pelozi & Reid . . the 3 horsemen of America’s economic Apolocolypse.
The mid terms can’t come soon enough.
Sounds good Fred, but there’s no pipeline to the west coast.
Could we convince Brad to follow so many of his fine Saskatchewan brethren and move to Alberta?
You’ve got it wrong Gus. They’re leaving Alberta and coming home in droves.
And hey! There’s room for more!
I like this guy Wall. He takes the mindset of his opponents (environmentalists) and works with it to advance the welfare of Saskatchewan. Incidentally, batb, I don’t think the interviewer was at all hostile or biased. The clip from the environmental campaign was simply typical of the propaganda Wall is apt to encounter, and it was thus appropriate to show it and give him a chance to demonstrate how he will deal with it.
I don’t get it…. all hair, no mousse? What does that even mean?
Something to do with Jane Taber being so dumb, ugly, & boring?
Can someone please explain? Anyone?
“Could we convince Brad to follow so many of his fine Saskatchewan brethren and move to Alberta?”
Sorry Gus but, much to the chagrin of the local socialist sore losers, all indications are that he’s staying in Sask.
Wow, didn’t Brad conduct himself well? Very impressive. He had Jane wetting her pants for him.
I think he should play the China card at the first opportunity. Hell, Pelosi is apt to get defeated in this Fall’s vote and anything Wall can do to hasten this would be a positive.
Wall is one of the main reasons I came home to Saskatchewan after 8 years in Calgary, and that interview shows why. His defence of the oil sand developments — even though they are in Alberta — was clear, thorough and unequivocal. Fantastic.
Pelosi is about to demonize Canada and the oilsands because her Democrat party is in big trouble come November. Even Pelosi seat is in jeopardy. She will come out swinging the moment she lands back in Washington (or perhaps while still here).
For years the Liberals under Chretien and Martin touted selling oil to China. Now that there is finally a planned pipeline from Alberta to BC’s coast and the protesters are vowing to stop it, the Liberals are silent. Where is Ignatief on this and why is the MSM not asking him?
Giggles Taber went a whole interview without her usual sneering condescension of the oil sand and Alberta in general. I expect she will be back to normal once Pelosi leaves.
OK, Mont St Phoenix, if I must (Kate never misfires on a headline, so it must be your problem, right?): You’re either bald or you have no sisters (though you’ve got to have a mom …).
All hair: Jane’s hair is an absolute MESS, long, lanky, slept-in beadhead, not combed. ‘Weird, seeing as CTV must have a phalanx of hairdressers on set.
No mousse: Where are the hairdressers? Mousse gives your hair lift, it gives it bounce, it can even make it shine (just don’t touch it, it feels like a porcupine).
Jane looked like she’d been out last night and hadn’t made it to bed yet. Either that, or she’d just got up and hadn’t had a shower. Either way, she looked like she’d been hit by a hurricane.
New name: Hurricane Jane
RSP: Jane was a little easier than usual on someone from the West who supports the Oil Sands, maybe because Brad Wall is is so good looking (cool glasses) and puts his arguments across so cogently. OTOH, there were a few subtle digs that didn’t go unnoticed: Wall’s a Westerner and a Conservative after all. No free lunch for him.
All hair, no mousse = all talk, no action; all foam, no beer; all sizzle, no steak …
Double entendre, in other words.
I guess old pelosi figures that they will be
able to use the oil from under Fats gore’s nifty
new school in la,la LA.What a waste of skin.
Mont St Phoenix: To clarify the double entendre:
“All hair, no moose”=”All hat, no cattle”.
Giggle.

Ottawa
Damn it is nice to hear a politician know what they are talking about. Any party, any position it’s just refreshing.
I remember the outrage when the PM went on US talk shows. Why doesn’t he do this in Canada? My reply was to ask if they listened to the questions.
