Gulf Of Mexico: Not Oily Enough!

Associated Press;

A St. Louis scientist who was among a select group picked by the Obama administration to pursue a solution to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been removed from the group because of writings on his website, the U.S. Energy Department confirmed Wednesday. […]
“It’s disappointing at a time like this that when all Americans need to come together and focus on relief efforts and recovery efforts in the Gulf, someone divisive was placed in a position of power,” Bockelman said.

Indeed it is. On the other hand, America did vote for him.

  1. Love your wit, Kate. Along with Kathy Shaidle, you deliver the best one-liners.
Too bad they so often refer to world leaders.

  2. Great one-liner heading and thank you Kathy for showing the professors writings. He makes sense, so, I’m thinking what now passes for correct thinking is warped right out of shape.

  3. Interesting that logical writing is sufficient cause for dismissal. The inmates are running the asylum.

  4. So much for “diversity”. Superficial diversity -gender, race, straight vs gay or whatever, handicapped … All OK.
What’s NOT OK is any deviation from the whole orthodoxy of neo-liberalism. Prof. Chu’s scientific knowledge and expertise are totally irrelevant to putting him on a govt scientific panel. The man’s guilty of ThoughtCrime!

  5. I see,the solution to any problem is not to hire the best minds for the job,it’s to hire the most politically correct.
    Good luck with that.

  6. I’ve often said, but for the efforts of the left, racism would largely be a non-issue in much of the civilized west. But, the left continues to promote identify politics as a core political tool. The left, deliberately or not, sees race in EVERYTHING.
That’s why, for example, the State Run Media, examines the minutia of the Time Square bomber’s life in an attempt to “understand” his motives and excuse his actions (e.g. the bank foreclosed on his home). However, had it turned out to be a white, Christian, tea-party supporter, we all know they would have gone into attack mode instantly.
We conservatives however couldn’t care less about the colour of Slappy al-Kaboom’s skin. To us, a spade is a spade — he’s a radical islamic nut. End of story.
Liberals are the real racists in modern society. I say that not pejoratively, but as a simple statement of fact.

  7. O’s Katrina: Quagmire/Disaster, and, now, another one-liner:
“the worst oil disaster in the history of the world.”
    …-
“Plans to evacuate Tampa Bay area expected to be announced”
“Plans to evacuate the Tampa Bay area are expected to be announced in the coming days as FEMA prepares for what is now being called the worst oil disaster in the history of the world.”

  8. It didnt matter that Proff Katz may have been the only one qualified to sit on the panel,he just couldnt have his no nonsense thought process in their discussions.

  9. He should sue for wrongful dismissal (if it was a paid position, which undoubtedly it was). This was clearly a termination because his boss did not like his political beliefs merely as they were expressed outside the time of his employment. The understanding when you take on a job is that you will not be terminated on arbitrary or unreasonable grounds. It’s just plainly a breach of contract.

  10. Imagine. A scientist articulating a scientific opinion.
    Can’t have that.

  11. A word of support from The Great White North couldn’t hurt, eh?
    katz (AT) wuphys.wustl.edu
You know the drill…replace the “(AT)” part

  12. Colin – huge +1. I’ve been trying to tell people for years that “racism” is the division of human beings into races, and it is most stringently and noisily practiced by leftists, who invoke it to rationalize bad behavior by people with more melanin in their skin. I call bull.

  13. a little off topic
click the link to the article
Then have a look at the Vid’s
Kid in upstate New York is Suspended from school for a wk for wearing his ‘Roseree Beads’ outside his shirt(iam not catholic apologize if spelt wrong No disrespect intended). School board says it looks Gang related, So he must wear them under shirt If he dont comply then he will be suspended again.

  14. Well, I just hope that Katz was the ONLY one with the solution to the problem.

  15. Ok, I give up, I can’t find the professors web page. Can someone please post the address? Thanks, Dale…

  16. This is nothing more than jettisoning one of the Opposition (conservatives) off a government board composed of DemocRats.
Sadly, this is not the usual BS government board that it doesn’t matter who’s on it. This board is supposed to actually -do- something.
Kicking off any scientist or engineer who doesn’t have the proper DemocRat lovey-dovey credentials will remove all the guys with any clue how to solve the problem.

  17. At a decent Catholic school, the kid would have been scolded for wearing rosary beads as a necklace. They are NOT jewellery. He should know better.

  18. This clearly defines the Obamugabbe administration’s priorities.
Political correctness in the vaguest sense have precedence over what they themselves have defined as a national emergency.
Can you just juctapose Obamugabbe in Bush’ circumstances on 911. Instead of diverting AF1 from it’s flight to Cheyenne Mountain, Obamugabbe would do what—-go to San Francisco instead of Washington?

  19. Maybe there are too many professors.
    America’s Death by Professor
Welcome to government by professor. Assorted faculty of Ivy League schools have come together to form an administration with the least real-world and most academic experience of any in modern times, the American Enterprise Institute notes. And so we have a government of scolds, lecturers, and bullies, arrogant academics cheered on by mainstream media when they take a “paddle” to average citizens and taxpayers.
They gather in Washington to “reengineer” your life according to the “abstract theories” they have taught for so many years, as political observer Michael Barone put it. Witness the latest addition to the administration’s professorial ranks: Dr. Donald Berwick, the Harvard Medical School professor picked to head the Medicare program. Of course, his knowledge of senior health care is academic, having never actually treated seniors.
Where professors rule, life is cruel. Elite professors have routinely championed thugs and butchers. Ivy League campuses and at least three of Obama’s czars continue to extol the virtues of communism, “a totalitarian and bloodthirsty theory that killed one hundred million people in the 20th century.”

The Liberal Party of Canada has also chosen professors for their last two leaders.

  20. That’s what I was thinking Phantom. Once you remove all the technical and scientific people with politically incorrect thoughts, your available candidates will shrink down to the size (and intellectual depth) of a kiddie pool. Contrary thinking and openly sharing unpopular ideas are an essential feature of good science. Those that are ambitious toadies talk nice but can only make decisions by committee. During a real-time crisis they are pretty much useless. First you have to waste time dragging them out from under their desk.

  21. Science has become the bastion of the Lysenko’s.
Only politically correct science can now be allowed.
Politics, not observation is the acid test of truth.
In this era. The verity of certain subjects can get you killed.
Where all supposed to close our eye’s, to sanity.
To bow to a bunch of death worshipers, we all know are psycho’s.
To swallow any lie by the mad to implement insane
false driven scams. To change the World or human nature.
This administration lives in an alternate reality.

  22. I think I can add Professor Katz to my long list of one, the other being Thomas Sowell, academics I respect and could trust what they say.

  23. How come this parallel comes to mind?:
    Obama = Castro
    Rahm = Che
It is starting to get a spooky!

  24. The problem with the political correct is that they are Hetrophobic Christian phobic, Freemarketphobic Energy Independent. Their biggest phobia is saying radical islam.

  25. glacierman @5:17 – s’true. I’ve been re-incarnated as a g@dd*mned ballerina trying to channel Christapha Moltisanti from the Sopranos. Think I’m thrilled? Would you be?
Oh, and Fidel? Yeah, he’s super thrilled. SARC!!! Guy used to be able to at least throw a baseball, for Lenin’s sake.
Oh, and you’re all bouregois capitalist running-dog racists and so on.

  26. Much less than the majority of American voters voted for him.
BTW the government was supposed to have oil fire booms. They had none, so the oil could not be burned off.
Obama’s FEMA and EPA are in far worse disarray than Bush’s agencies with Katrina.

  27. “the worst oil disaster in the history of the world”
Sounds like something the biggest BSer south of the 49th parallel would say. One of the biggest BSers north of the 49th would be discredited biologist/writer Farley Mowatt – also on the same idealogical team as Obama, ironically – who kept telling us what wonderful environmentalists the Russians were all during the cold war years. Then, after the collapse of the USSR, Alberta oilmen – sent to get the Russian oil patch viable again after decades of inefficency and neglect – were horrified to find “seas” of spilled oil on the Siberian tundra. Of course, little was reported through the communist-sympathetic Western media on which was no doubt truly “the worst oil disaster in the history of the world.” And who can forget the Kuwait oil fields disaster when Iraqui madman Saddam Hussien torched in the first Gulf War?

  28. Anyone else noticing the tendency of entire Democretin admin to quickly purge those with dissident thought?
Especially when all of their own are there only to serve the cause. Truth of the matter is that the only merit of the likes of Chu is devotion to the ideology.
The commissars don’t like disorder in the ranks.
    Sort of Stalinesque eh?

  29. bleetymouth, please go and invent a source of energy alternative to oil which serves all our same needs, doesn’t completely suck in some catastophic way (think Stinking Giant Fans) and won’t keep us dependent upon and financially propping up our enemies. Thanks in advance.

  30. Prof. Katz – not Martin Luther King enough
    ————————–
“The diversity movement is racist at its core,” [Katz] writes. “When dealing with people we should be concerned with intellect, talent, character and accomplishment. People aren’t dogs or cattle; race matters only to racists.”

  31. We need to just calm down.
The Obama administration has this Gulf Oil disaster under control.
35 days into this environmental and ecological disaster he has an army of government artist willing to paint all this beach oil green.
Come visit our Gulf Oily State Beaches and enjoy a rainbow coalition of colors,
    never mind the smell.

  32. All jokes aside.
Obama is in the White House,
but the Buck stops with President Bush?
April 6, 2010, Obama told BP to dig deeper and gave them an Environmental Safety Award and a wink for more campaign contributions.
While they were celebrating Obamas Environmental Safety Award the rig blew up killing 11 workers.
Now for 35 days he lets BP clean up. (Ha)
This leak will not stop until September,
and BP gets another hole dug 2 miles deep to get the rest of that 70 dollar a barrel Black Gold.
“7 billion dollars left in that thar hole.”
BP doesn’t care about a few million oil soaked birds, Bottle nose Dolphins,
(that saved my life in their ocean)
and sea turtles, or Gulf Oily Beach tourists-
“There is $Gold under that thar Gulf.”
    Get er while you can,
and let Obama try and cover it up.
