This isn’t my Canada.
Recent initiatives by the RCMP, including the unilateral reclassification of several models of legally registered semi-automatic sporting firearms, including the Norinco Type-97A carbine and High Standard Model 10B shotgun, should be a wake-up call to all owners.
The Liberals promised Canadian gun owners that REGISTRATION WOULD NOT EQUAL CONFISCATION! However, letters sent out last month by the RCMP ordering legal owners to turn in their firearms for destruction, without compensation, within 30 days gives proof of the lie contained within that particular Liberal “promise.” If allowed to proceed unopposed, this new round of gun seizures and destructions establishes a dangerous precedent that puts the future of legal firearms ownership in jeopardy.

And…what are the Conservatives doing about all of this? Staring at the effin’ ceiling? Whistling?
Breitkreitz and friends are playing hot potato, that’s what.
Did we already forget that when Martin’s polling numbers went south in the later part of his federal election campaign he promised to ban and confiscate all hand guns? That seemingly came out of thin air but not really. It’s been an LPC promise to the UN powers to be for years. Total civilian disarmament in a defacto martial police state where only the state claims a monopoly on the use of armed force which takes its orders from a central global bureaucracy – Global socialist utopia.
Look at Britain since they disarmed civilians. How fast was the desent into a police stae and micro managing government tyranny? Read UN civilian disarmament docs, do they ever mention disarming governments? Why not? Government has been soly responsib;e for the majority of civilian deaths through their genocides and hegemony.
Britain’s decline is what is in store for Canada with the next Liberal globalist Government. They will follow the agendas of UN global socialism. Global socialism aims to make the whole world look more like China, its model state. No gun, one child policy, everyone exists only to serve the state.
Remember the credo of the gun grabber – there is no right to own a gun and no one needs a gun – that is directly from the global socialist concept of no individual right existing to own property, only a group privilege – all former individual rights are privileges before an omnipotent collective state.
When this global socialism is pushed hard at us, as it soon will be by our leftwing globalist enablers of eco-fascism, cultural Marxism and kleptonomics, and its planned/forced austerity leaves us a broken shell of the strong free independent, affluent middle class nation we once were, will our loss of personal property, our loss of individual, national and economic sovereignty in the coming years, wake us up in time? Will there be enough passion left for individual freedom and liberty to resist omnipotent global collectivism as it’s jack boots kick in our doors looking for banned guns, banned reading, hoarded wealth, banned foods, banned anti-climate items. Will the will as well as the means to resist be there?
Or will you fold and become big brother’s snitch on your neighbors?
Registration of individual firearms has always meant confiscation. That and the Registration of firearms owners (PAL) is, and was from the start a civilian disarmament program.
The Canadian state officially views it’s citizens as a threat to be controlled.
Meanwhile in rural areas wild predators roam and attack in unprecedented numbers. In cities violent criminals control increasingly larger areas of our cities.
Here the police advise not going out alone, or after dark. They advise not to resist violent criminals, just let them take anything they want, including the no longer rare home invasions.
Actually, an RCMP officer showed up to a home invasion call and shot the homeowner who had driven off the criminals with a baseball bat. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!
Would criminals be so bold if they were not guaranteed police protection?
The theory of a liberal democracy is that the individual citizen is sovereign and the elected representatives have merely delegated powers. No political party and no public institution operate under that theory, today.
The slack-jawed ba$tard used a single incident of an ME nut to get the ball rolling on gun confiscation. That was gobbled up by those lying peegs who doctored all the evidence with phoney graphs, etc.cuz as anyone knows guncontrol is wrong.
“The Canadian state officially views it’s citizens as a threat to be controlled.”
Absolute self evident truth – However ;
Not all politicians are wired that way but they stay quet when confronted with aggressive statism.
Limit that to only the so-called progrssive left politicians and sundry other statist-elitist NGOs who despise the limits on political power which populist democracy and traditional liberal free society under a constitutionally limited state offer.
In other words globalists who believe in building the global village governing model of the UN. Transnationalists who have more alliance to international trade-governance-regulatory bodies than their own nation’s popular will. They owe loyalty only to a political ideal; that ideal is transnational collectivism under a plutocratic world bureaucracy. It’s polity is neo feudalist corpoatism where transnational corps, transnational banking and trans national socialism form a triumvirate to empower and enrich a select elite through massive global austerity agendas which will yield the new fiscal-corporate-military global monopoly.
Any politician that values the demented policy making of the 100 plus failed communist states which comprise the UN should be regarded as a proponent of civil disarmament and the hegemonic collectivist state. They hide in all parties and our nation will never be free and prosperous again until they have been outted and kept from the levers of power.
A good litmus test for outting them is the issue of civilian held firearms. If we can be trusted to devise ways to enrich the nation through taxation of our private intellectual capacity and productivity but we can’t be trusted with firearms or the right to armed self defense, then we are deemed slaves to the state. Any one espousing such rubbish is a globalist and should have their motives held in suspicion.
Until the time comes this malignant statism is resisted and repelled by concerted grass roots political action, not just your guns are at risk of confiscation but most all of your other private property and traditional civil liberties. The globalists are building a new micromanaged governing order and both private property, individual liberty and privately held arms stand as a road block in their agenda.
As I said, look how fast Britain went down the tubes to a petty micro-regulated globalist police state after private firearms were all but banned.
The historic lesson is clear, the modern evidence is stark. This has nothing to do with crime control or gun control, this is population control. It’s about conditioning grovelling subservience to a state which refuses to govern within traditional democratic confines.
“C-68 has little to do with gun control or crime control, but it is the first step necessary to begin the social re-engineering of Canada.”
— Quote by Senator Sharon Carstairs (Liberal) 1996 January 26 – 11th Annual Community Legal Education Associations (CLEA) Conference, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Several people witnessed her saying this, but it was denied later by the senator.
I can understand why. It spilled the globalist agenda of conditioned docility to collectivist incremental planned austerity.

I really doubt Gary is…certainly his friends are though…
This piece of legislation started a trend: the decisions about what firearms should be placed on the prohibited or resticted schedules was left entirely up to an unelected individual or body; in this case the RCMP Commissioner.
The same situation has occurred on the provincial scene, where hand-picked toadies decide what species should be classified as “endangered.”
Something about the situation just doesn’t jive very well with my notions of how a free and democratic society should operate. I mean, what is the “means test” to determine why a particular rifle should be prohibited? Is it because of how it looks?
I suspect that’s just about it.
“This piece of legislation started a trend: the decisions about what firearms should be placed on the prohibited or resticted schedules was left entirely up to an unelected individual or body; in this case the RCMP Commissioner.”
Interestingly enough, the Liberals built this gun law as a skeletal ‘enabling legislation’ where vast changes in regulation, policy, enforcement could be effected by unelected bureaucrats in the system. This is accomplished by OICs or ‘orders in council” where the justice minister can rubberstamp these vast changes in policy without parliamentary approval. It was done that way to clip opposition (parliament) out of the incremental confiscation process Rock and the Liberals had planned.
Also interesting is that this dangerous unaccountable arbitrary process is also the Achilles’ heel of the gun control system. I means yhat a government which wants to save Canadians from this draconian regulatory regime can DISASSEMBLE it just as easily by the same method of OICs and arbitrary administrative regulatory changes.
However the Harperites are either too stupid to ask GB how this is done or too scared of the petty bureaucrats in the control system to do it.
The fact remains the entire gun control regime could be gutted to a non threatening inoperative husk by OICs and ministerial directed regulatory changes by the justice department – all without anything going before liberal-stacked committees for approval.
And next on the list for confiscation….Who knows, but they will not stop. This will continue until the only way that you will be allowed to own a gun is by proving that it is used to feed yourself. The next step will be to provide you with food stamps so that gun is not really necessary after all….First they came for my guns, now they are frowning at my fishing rod.
Well said and right you are, Jim.
I was going to buy one of these rifles. I know the story quite well. One company was importing these as “Restricted Firearms” due to barrel length, price was about $1800 each. The guns were listed on the RCMP firearms database and given a “FRT number” A gun must have an FRT number to be able to be accepted by the gun registry.
Then my friend decided to import a large quantity of the rifles, he went to the factory and asked them to make the gun longer so it would fall into the Non-Restricted category. He applied for permits from the RCMP, Dept of Foreign trade and received all of the required permits prior to importing them, he also has all the required business licenses to do so. Upon arrival Custom’s seized the shipment and sent a gun the RCMP gun lab for testing. Neither agency would replay to my friend as to what was going on. Much later the RCMP declared the gun as a Prohibited Firearm, withdrew the FRT number from the system. This left the legal owners of the guns in Limbo, they could not sell their gun and only until recently did they start to get the letters saying to turn them in. The Minister of Public Safety has promised to compensate them, but no details so far. The owners have some legal recourses to challenge the government.
My friend did a access to information request, CSBA was much faster and open then the RCMP in releasing the information. Seems that CSBA knew the shipment was coming and decided to seize them and make a big PR event and went so far as to hire photographers to take pictures. Seem only at the last minute did they bother to check if the importer had all his permits, when they realized he did, there was a flurry of e-mails to stop the PR event, very amateurish!
They will not let my friend sell the guns here and will not let him ship them back out of the country, you can imagine what this has cost a small business. The RCMP claim that the gun is convertible to full auto will have to be tested in court, they will likely try to stonewall for as long as possible in the hopes of bleeding him dry.
I should note that any gun can be made full auto, in fact New Zealand made a fully automatic gun out of the venerable bolt action Lee Enfield in WWII, mind it looked like a Plumber’s nightmare. The courts have ruled that for a gun to be claimed as easily convertible, it must be done in a very short period of time and with easily accessible parts and tools. The RCMP had the Type 97 for 2 months in a firearms lab full of specialized tools and expert gun plumbers, I suspect they spent a long time figuring out how to do it.
The problem is that they won’t release any information in this regards. The credibility of the firearms lab has not stood up well in previous court decisions.
Actually a guy in Quebec converted a Lee-Enfield into a light machine gun. The “Houle” if I remember correctly.. A gas port and piston operated a cam—a plate with a slot to work the bolt. It was not adopted because it was deemed unlikely to be servicable under battlefield conditions….Actually it was likely because JOHN INGLIS & CO had taken up manufacture of the BREN….perhaps the best light machine gun ever designed—-for some reason the BREN engenders a fierce loyalty with it’s users….myself included.
It’s only vice was occasional stoppages due to the rimmed .303 British Cartridge. The Brits and S Africa converted a number to 7.62 NATO at the time of standardization and the stoppages ceased.
