Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I heard he is going to rent it out to Danny Williams while he is visiting the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
I could really care less if Wall buys retirement property in Arizona, however, while touting the Saskatchewan first message and invest in Saskatchewan mantra he should be a little more circumspect in his investments. Hypocrite comes to mind. However, it is wise for Mr. Wall to invest in a retirement home as if his government continues to mismanage, incur deficits and cut services he may need it sooner than he thinks.
Fortunately in a free society, people can invest in anything and anywhere they wish. Unlike the totalitarian regime that a clown like T obviously espouses.
Hmm, so an individual from one province (nation) can only purchase property or goods from an individual with the same background? Sounds a bit of an ‘aryan’ exchange to me.
Lingenfelter’s ‘ad misericordiam’ appeal that doing so mocks the impoverished people of Sask. who can only afford a shack-by-a-Sask.lake and props up the Evil American real estate agents, well, that’s NDP politics.
Doubtful there were any little brown bags involved in the purchase, unlike “T’s” comrades in the way they do their business transactions!
The politics of envy rears its ugly head once again.
So I would assume that all flatlanders restrict themselves to investing in Saskatchewan ventures. That includes any sunny vacation money to be spent outside of their borders. I hear the next cruise at Diefenbaker Lake is filling up fast.
I guess that all those NDP supporters will now have to sell their foriegn/non-Saskatchewan properties as well. Now that it is NDP policy, “Thou must not own property anywhere other than Saskatchewan.”
This is a mastercard moment. What a bunch of morons?
I wonder if Link has sold his property in Calgary?
It’s about the weather. Who can blame him. Yes, the outcry is pure envy and hatred.
As an aside, my Facebook account is reserved for canine-related requests only, so while I’m flattered at the friend requests from blog readers, I don’t respond to them. So, don’t take it personally!
I demand the NDP publish their RRSP portfolios, to show that they aren’t investing outside Saskatchewan.
Oh, and no champagne for you. Must stick to Boh or Pil.
As well, I would expect all NDPers would only vacation within Saskatchewan.
I don’t think you can get a decent cottage for 100K. I would wager he buys health insurance for himself and the family while he is there too. Go for the twofer when you’re behind and grasping. Follow the bambam mantra ‘I don’t care much for rules.”
“Belanger questioned why the premier would not look into any one of a number of resort properties in Saskatchewan where many families in the province have already invested.”
I could be wrong, but it may have something to do with alleged temperature differences between Saskatchewan and Arizona in winter. Smart move on Wall’s part, US real estate prices are extremely low right now.
And, now Saskabushers should watch the travels of every NDP MLA to see they never go out of Province for a vacation, especially in Winter!
Hm, it’s January, -35c,where to go,Saskatoon or Maui? Sorry, I meant Cuba, where Dippers go in Winter to study successful socialist regimes in action.
House is not an investment, it is just a durable consumer good. Anyone who entertain a different opinion must be living in a housing bubble.
You mean someone from Sask. would want a vacation property in a warm climate?? Really???? I thought they would be buying in the NWT. Seriously, unless Saskatchewan has a tropical climate they aren’t sharing with the rest of Canadians, then investing in a vacation property someplace warm sounds like a smart move!
Too funny. Wall uses his personal money to buy a vacation property out of the province and is accused of being anti-Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, the NDP government of 1991-2007 led to a massive flight of young people to other provinces, dropping population down to its lowest level since 1976. Hmmmm…which is likely to cause greater damage to the province – a return to NDP policies or Wall’s sunny southern property?

The NDP hasn’t a Berlin Wall clone up yet around Saskabush yet but they are trying…. for the same reason as the original Berlin Wall—to keep people in…not out.
There isn’t a parent of any political persuasion who wouldn’t give their false teeth for a son who would be willing to share a place in the sun with them. And in the winter months, that ain’t going to be anywhere in Canada.
My arthritis and asthma are cheering. Sour grapes are just that: sour.
I dunno, sasquatch. I think there is an argument to be made that NDP-led population drops are intentional. Politically it might be better to repel anyone with ambitions for a better life and higher standard of living. With them gone, there is higher percentage of voters satisfied with living on whatever scraps the government tosses them. Then there is the other NDP voter base, the public service unions. They’d never leave their secure, well-paid jobs. So, for the NDP, it may be better to have a lower but government dependent population than a higher but self-reliant one.
I notice that 6 out of 7 of Link’s “favorite pages” are jokes…
Rick Mercer, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Barack Obama, The Saskatchewan NDP.
I’m offended that he grouped “The Saskatchewan Roughriders” in with all of those jokes. No respect for Saskatchewan whatsoever.
Pathetic Socialist Tapeworms.
Yup. The NDP cry “foul” when citizens spend their own money on property outside of Saskatchewan; and then in the next breath demand that the Saskatchewan party reinstitute funding for the First Nations University, and pick-up the Feds portion, so University executives(NDP supporters I suspect) can abuse their positions and take advantage of students and tax payers by allocating education dollars for sunny destination vacation spots.
Suggestion to First Nation University Executives: If you’re going to steal money for personal vacations you could at least vacation in Saskatchewan!
T
Be careful what you wish for. The sooner Mr.Wall leaves Saskatchewan politics is the sooner he will make his bid for Prime Minister.
Why would he buy property in Arizona when he is so young. By the time he reaches retirement age, global warming will have us feeling like we’re in Arizona. I hear(Suzuki), that the science is settled.
How is Mr. Wall’s French? He’ll need to be proficient if he wants to be PM.
I heard that some NDP MLAs have in the past travelled abroad and actually spent some of their Saskatchewan taxpayer supplied wages in the USA, Europe, Cuba, and even … god forbid, Quebec.
It’s only a rumour, though.
I agree with LC.
The main political priority for the Dippers is to maintain a percentage of public sector employees between 35-40 percent of Saskatchewan’s population. One million Saskatchewan citizens appears to be the breaking point for the Dippers, thus the concerted attempt to stifle progress, population and economic growth under the NDP government.(also notice the Sask Parties recent move to start a reduction in the public sector)
If Saskatchewan continues to “matriculate the ball down the field” by facilitating population growth through opportunity and success, Saskatchewan could down the road find itself in Alberta territory without an effective opposition to the Saskatchewan party. This is because the percentage of NDP supporters dwindles for the reasons stated above; and, because their base continues to age and die.
Barring any major economic disasters or political fouls, we’ve likely seen the last of NDP governments in Saskatchewan. Time and progress are the two biggest obstacles the NDP face. As time goes on and Saskatchewan people see unprecedented success, the further and further the Saskatchewan NDP will fall into irrelevance.
What’s good for Saskatchewan is bad for the provincial NDP. Here’s hoping for good times.
sasquatch: The NDP understood a long time ago that a robust growing population is also a confident population; which means fewer dippers and more self-reliant citizens. It’s simple, the NDP only functions well in mediocre or stagnant economies so why would they want a boom. The goal of the NDP in Sask was to tamp down the economy and transform as much excess revenue into government dependence via programs and government jobs.
Tapeworms (to borrow from RFB) … each and everyone.
What Sask needs to do is annex a couple of little Caribbean islands!
Investing in a property in Arizona for a vacation spot shows me that this person is capable of logic and sound decision making. Here is his choice – warm, sunny hot destination with a resort feel versus mosquito infested, might be warm or might not, strong possibility of rain and fishing resort feel. No offense to those in Saskatchewan, but I would choose Arizona too.
Good point T.
OT/ my daughter(10) has recently enrolled in French Emersion for “late starters”. We’re told that in this program it will take two school years for the grade 6 students to catch-up to the others and become fluent in French.
If Mr.Wall is considering PM in the future it’s likely that with proper planning and dedication he could address the issue of speaking French. For the record, I’m not aware of Mr.Wall ever mentioning interest in the PM’s office. But if he’s out of work in the future like you hope, well then who knows.
Political differences aside, will you concede that Mr.Wall is the closest thing to Barak Obama we have in Canadian politics? Remember “Hope beats fear”? Young, handsome(I’ve been told), articulate, family man and a big sports fan…
Any thoughts T?
The dippers doing stupid again, someone ring a bell.
ooh! now I see it. Stirring things up on Dwain’s facebook, tsk.. tsk.. but it looks like you got a couple bites! lol
Just another desperate attempt by the NDP to demonize a popular and capable premier who is leading a prosperous Saskatchewan … finally after years of socialist stagnation and despair.
The next thing you know, the NDP will dig up a decades-old video of Mr. Wall having a few drinks and behaving badly.
Finally the people of Saskatchewan are recognizing the NDP for the pathetic array of clowns that they are.
Kate, as an ignorant Manitoban, I was wondering how many ski resorts are there in Saskatchewan?
Mr. Lingenfelter likes taking “family skiing trips” according to his facebook profile. So where likely does he snowplow his planks?
Mr. Homez, immersion students do not normally become fluent in French. The best way to accomplish that is to study French properly as a foreign language, then spend some time in an actual native-French-speaking environment. Playing at French, which is all that immersion students do, can be fun but it won’t achieve fluency, which in any event is not the goal of the vast majority of immersion students or their parents.
I don’t know why anyone here ever responds to T’s nonsense. He’s obviously a lurker and a plant, and aims only to be a s*** disturber. He’s a vain, useless little man – ignore him.
http://www.newstalk650.com/poll/20100319/do-you-have-a-problem-with-the-premier-owning-vacation-property-in-the-united-states
Check out the poll gone horribly wrong. The comments overwhelmingly condemn the NDP’s contemptuous behaviour.
Oh yeah … our resident troll, idio”T” throws in his two cents worth which turns out to be a carbon copy of the drivel that he posted here.
By the way catch 22 … excellent description.
Hey Al of the Frozen, Saskatchewan actually has a ski hill (as opposed to skiing down a riverbank) up near Saskatoon. It’s called Mount Jockstrap or something. It is a very big compost heap built for some winter games in the last century. At least I think it is still there.
I dunno Diefenbaker’s french sucked and he made it to 24 Sussex. French in Canada suffers from the law of diminshing returns. It only
matters in Ottawa. The real future is economic and that is where the west wins. It’s over for quebec and ontario.
Wow, with all the global warming going on I would have thought investing in Saskatchewan property would have been a no brainer.

Driving lesson gate!! Bawahahahahahahahaha!
Good stuff Kate.

“Any thoughts T?”
Dumb question.
A sure sign that the Sask Party is doing a good job, this is the best that the socialists can come up with…
Sounds to me like Mr. Wall is helping his parents out by going in on the property. What a good son. He learned win-win through good parenting.

I love rhetorical questions.
