Police make arrest in Canadian pipeline bombings
Police arrested a man Friday in connection with a series of oil and gas pipeline bombings in northeastern British Columbia.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Inspector Tim Shields said a man in his 50s or 60s was taken into custody on a farm in the western Alberta town of Hythe. Police did not release the suspect’s name pending the filing of formal charges.
About a dozen officers conducted a search of the farm, Shield said.
Oh, why it’s Wiebo Ludwig, again.
Ford owners can follow developments here.

scapegoat? Most people do not like sour gas – and outfits can put buffers on the rigs to stop the output of sour gas…they do use buffers in Texas, of course, it does cost to do that.
Unca Mo made his money in the gas/oil industries of Alberta.
Rigs are not the problem, Jema. It’s quite a chore keeping the smell in check, during the production phase. I used to work in the area, near Weibo’s compound. It isn’t all that bad. Certainly not as bad as living near a pig farm.
Most of the farmers in that area have given up on farming. It’s on the north face of the Saddle Hills, and the area has not proven all that good for agriculture. Most of the small farms are subsidized by oilfield revenue, either from facilities, or the owners working in the industry. Weibo tried to take the easy way out. He faked an injury. Anyone who’s ever worked a construction job knows that trick. It’s as old as the hills. But, when there’s an oil company angle, the media starts talking conspiracy, immediately.
Weibo had absolutely no case against any oil company. It was a scam, from day 1.
dp – I know farmers/ranchers in that neck of the woods. I know about the deformities in livestock and I also know that the Peace River Valley has some very fertile farmland. I used to live in Grand Prairie, I was one of the people that lost a good job in the oilfields because of NEP – I am on the side of farmers/ranchers AND the oil industry – the Alta gument should give tax credits to oil companies to help them install MANDATED buffers. The smell is evil and the effects are evil.
Special Ed brings the full force of the law down on tobacco smokers with that ‘evil stinking second hand’ tobacco smoke (Ed and his pals agree that tobacco smoke kills millions every year…without any ‘science’ to back up this bedwetting), he bankrupts businesses that serve liqueur (harmless substance!)by banning tobacco smoking, sends cops out to fine/incarcerate street people (sidewalk cigarette smokers)…he champions carbon tax (also science neutral) he bails out teachers….yet he cannot put regulations on sour gas emissions….WHO is Special Eddie working for?
I’ve been working in the oilpatch for 30 years, and I’ve never heard of a buffer. What is it?
Weibo was a long way from the Peace River valley. That’s a big area you’re talking about. Weibo lived on some bush land, on the south side of Hwy 49, near the BC border. That area is not prime farmland, neither is it a high H2S concentration. The Weibo case was never legitimate. His sheep miscarried because they were malnourished. The media jumped on the evil oil theme immediately, and completely ignored the truth.
You will not find one legitimate study, or medical report, to back his claims. All the accusations came from Weibo, and were run in the media, without any investigation, or review. The CBC was looking for a folk hero, and they thought they had one. He was no better than Jim Roscoe.
Atta boy dp; hudson duster that’s hilarious! Wiebo is a has-been hippie, wanna-be prophet. If he killed that young girl he is evil incarnate not to admit it, being as he’s supposed to be God-fearing.
dp – here is a link that discribes the process in connection with the Texas law:http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/meetings/ogpfd/ogpor36/03-46579H2S.pdf
dp – didn’t the shooting of that young lady, happen on the Ludwig compound/farm in the middle of the night; while she along with a group of young people decided they were going to joyride; recklessly around the living quarters of the people; were there firearms in those vehicles? Were shots being fired in the air?
I’m a little fuzzy on the specifics of story. isn’t that kinda along the lines of what went on?
Did they (the young group of yahoos) or didn’t they go there to terrorize the people living there?
Feel free the fill us in on what really happened, I’d like to know.
Are you maybe not a little close to the situation (with a bit too much interest) to look this rationally?
When I look at the situation (from a distance) it doesn’t seem that Ludwig wants attention. I would think, considering the segregated life they choose to lead, that he has had more attention than he ever wanted already. He’s How old now? what does he have to gain by bombing pipelines, I’d think he’d have a lot more to lose. Allegations that he is involved with latest string of bombings do not seem to jive with the information available!
Jared- You don’t seem the least bit fuzzy on details. You’re doing a pretty good job of trying to blame the victim, and question her morals. I’m guessing you’re a lot closer to the case than I am.
I moved away from that area before the murder, but my nephew still lives nearby. He’s the same age as the kids that were acting up near the cult. The popular opinion is, weibo wasn’t lynched because his victim was not from a respected family. Her brother has been in trouble before, so when he had a fight with weibo’s son, he got in more trouble than weibo’s spawn.
Little digs, like the ones from jared, have been the main defense used by weibo supporters. It should not be given any attention. Those kids were acting out the feelings of everyone in the community. Everyone hated weibo, because he’s a sick bastard. The kids just got caught up in the sentiments of their parents. It’s not a new phenomenum.
There’s no evidence that the kids were doing any more than making a noise. They were on a government road allowance. If the weibo clan wanted to, they could have chased them off, with no weapons. It was 2nd degree murder, and it’s a 100% certainty that weibo pulled the trigger. The other members are followers. Only weibo had the authority to do the shooting.
Weibo was just on CBC. They still refer to him as an activist.
Just switched to CTV. They refer to him as a convicted bomber. Looks like the Mounties think they have a good case.
Carman was in the back of a pickup doing high-speed circle drive-bys late at night on Ludwig’s property. It was a summer night and some of the kids from the commune were in tents outside near where the pickup was driving.
What happened to Carman was a tragedy — but it helps to know the full story.
As for this latest arrest, well, it’s the RCMP and they proved their incompetence over and over again. 35-40 officers searching Ludwig’s farm and still nothing a prosecutor can do anything with.
It’s time BC and Alberta get serious and get their own provincial police forces. This work program for other provinces is not cutting it.
