  1. lol – i saw the headline earlier too. I had to read the headline a couple of times – and wondered for a sec if it was me that maybe i needed more coffee.

  2. Not enough evidence against Hitler’s involvement? Maybe the Jews went off on vacation and liked it so much they just never came back. Might as well take their homes, businesses and belongings if they won’t be wanting them, eh?

  3. Journalists aren’t literate, they are brain-washed twits who think they are in show business. And actually they are, but it’s a show we all ignore. Their message is very stale like their business model.

  4. This is my cousin Heini and this is my cousin Heini.
The better story is Hitler’s mentors or the planners at the Wannsee Conference (Wiki).

In the years 1922-25 Alexander Dohna studied at the elite schools Corps Borussia Bonn, which at one time under the personal patronage of Kaiser Wilhelm II, in which there were the young generation of Germany’s most distinguished aristocratic families.
So they were the brothers Alexander – Vickbert (1903-1984) and Christof (ur.1904), Heini brothers and Dieter von Dönhoff with Friedrichstein (now Kamienka n / Pregolya, 21 km east of Koenigsberg), Wolf Prince zu Wartenburg Paul hr. Alexander Dohna met a second time with Hitler in the autumn of 1932, when his uncle Hermann Dohna drove him to East Prussia, and the third time in the summer of 1933, when Hitler visited include to Kamenyets (Finckenstein) k / Drought. Among the Führer was a large entourage including Reinhard Heydrich, Himmler, H. and his personal aide – Karl Wolff, a former classmate of Alexander Dohna. 5. Actually, I think most British readers would not notice how bad this headline sounded, because they are used to this sort of truncated use of what is, after all, their language.
    Read it as being like
Drought relief hope as rainstorm approaches
and you’ll see how a British reader would parse the headline. They hope to learn secrets after the aide died. I must admit that I didn’t get this meaning right away despite being sort of one foot in Canada and one in the UK due to my work in the weather field.

  6. After puzzling it out, I think it is meant to read:
“Secrets-hope as Hitler aide dies”. The first two words are meant to be a noun, and the sentence expresses the idea the memoirs will yield new information about Hitler.

  7. Peter O’Donnell y Alan – yes, “Secrets-hope” is a compound noun (very germanic), and the verb… well, you need to intuit the verb! Important journalists working here, in a hurry, and there’s only so much space! We need to meet them half way on this headline thing!

  8. Headline writer uses “devout Muslim”.
What does “devout” mean in this context?
    …-
“Muslim wife slashed husband over pork, miniskirts
By Colleen Long, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
NEW YORK — A devout Muslim woman says she slashed her husband’s neck with a kitchen knife as he slept because he forced her to eat pork, wear short skirts and drink alcohol in violation of her religious beliefs.”

  9. James Taranto in the Wall Street Journal would likely file this one in the section of his column entitled “Some One Set Us Up the Bomb”.

  10. Whatever was meant here is unimportant, surely no one seriously doubts the holocaust? There may be differences in the number, but there is no doubt it occurred. This is just filler in a paper in the eternal hope of keeping the horror alive. We must never forget, but we should move on. The papers also revealed that one of the mass murderers in the Rwanda/Burundi horror has been sentenced to life in Canada.

  11. Imagine living to 96 after being sent to the eastern front for annoying Hitler.
    Now that’s a lucky Nazi.

  12. Regarding the fly that was annoying Hitler, and his aide’s flippant answer – “it was an ‘airborne pest’ the job should go to Luftwaffe adjutant” then presto, off to the Russian front.
The secret is obvious, Hitler had no sense of humour.

  13. “….. that one of the mass murderers in the Rwanda/Burundi horror has been sentenced to life in Canada.” – Larben
Ha, what a farce. The mass murderer will be freed is less than 25 years. Too bad he was not sentenced to several life terms. Better yet, he should have been sentenced in a country with the death penalty.
But I suppose we should be grateful, it’s better than nothing.

  14. Otto Skorzeny???
Many years past i had the good fortune to meet Skorzeny in Spain…..he did a bit of consulting about demolitions theory….he was very very knowledgable about that.
He seemed a personable fellow and spoke of Hitler as very personable, but ignorant, petty and mercurial.
Dubbed “Hitler’s Commando”….he was the genius behind plucking Mussulini from his impregnable prison on an Italian mountaintop and who took the Hungarian Government hostage to prevent it’s expected surrender/capitulation to the Allies.
Regardless his wartime patriotism/loyalty he was a very capable professional….who mentored the elites of the western Allies post war.
He absolutely loathed communists and Russians.

  15. 3 signs of hates
    1) when some one do not like to hear each other voice and idea it means those group hate each other fight over freedom of speech in world
    2) when some group keep some one for so many years of war like Israel this is sign of hate
    3) if some one hold one group hungry like african are hungry for so long and some group are rich unbalance this is sign of hate
    4) if some one killing more than 100 peoeple innocnet is sign of hate
    5) if some one dicrminate innocent people or old or diable or women or child or color is sign of hate
    6) if some one torture innocnet muslim are sign of hate
    7) if some one hold you in too many court proceding to not give your simple right that is sign of hate and lack of ethic
then stop hate open your heart for love
the rest can be resolve by god’s order for mercy and ethic world can reach the peace
peace must start from heart first

  16. secrets hope?
after the explanation of the bizarre grammatical quasi-construct, Im still not getting how the death of the nonagenarian kraut promotes the possibility of fingering der fuhrer for the holocaust.
I once pointed out to an editor type 3 plausible but completely distinct ways a local paper headline could be interpreted.

  17. what’s the fuss here ?
the headline is perfectly understandable tho a titch idiomatic english…..
try to HEAR the headline in a conversational sense…it’s certainly a condensed or abbreviated creation but i think one hears the same interrogatory tone in wry backanswers every day …
it could be improved…less esoteric perhaps if a question mark were affixed to it’s tail.

  18. Who cares? It being the BeeB,in two months they’ll release a report saying Hitler ain’t dead and he tutored Regan and both Bushs and is currently working with Harper.

  19. there was a most amusing story in Esquire many years ago…written by a Mormon
was called “i caught flies for Howard Hughs”

  20. The secret hope is:

Happily, relations between Britain and Canada are excellent.
Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Canada and sundry countries is 83 years old. God bless her, and long may she reign over us – after which Canada should cut its ties to the British monarchy.
But they are British, and we are Canadians. That is not a statement of threat or disapproval or arrogance, but rather of fact.

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Canada and sundry countries is 83 years old. God bless her, and long may she reign over us – after which Canada should cut its ties to the British monarchy. Her son and successor, and his wife, arrive on Monday for a coast-to-coast meet and greet with their future subjects, us. Think of it: Charles, now prince but eventually king, his face on our currency, his picture on our official walls, his title to be head of state of Canada – unless we resolve to say no to those unwelcome certainties.Prince Charles has views on such matters as modern architecture and organic gardening that are worth raising, even commendable. And he has certainly had a difficult time of things, waiting seemingly forever to climb onto the throne. Then there was the unpleasantness of, as the late Diana, Princess of Wales, once famously said, three people in a marriage: her, Charles and his now-wife. It could not have been easy to have lived through – indeed, to have been intimately involved – in the Diana soap opera. He emerged from it as well as could be expected, under the circumstances of her being a star and all that and he being, well, Charles.
But really, amusing as those affairs were, his fitness to be King of the United Kingdom is something for him and his future subjects there, whereas his fitness to be King of Canada is something entirely for us.
    =====
We do not want to go to any more war between French and English and argue with Britian
Canadian has different culture and has similarity
this can be resolve peacfully. No more war please.
    ===

    Australia and British people
we want to have business in world wide and we dso not want all favor goes to Australia because Prince charlse like Australia more
We get sick of seeing all hate and power playing and money and business link for hate innocent people
    peace.
