  1. great news. if we could only see the same for CBCopravda.
however, the billion a year corporate welfare bum has stayed steady at about 7% of the Canadian audience . a mere $450 bucks per viewer subsidy.
    report that Peter Mansbridge.

  2. Surely there has to be a reality check when you lose to Keith Olbermann?
What does it mean when the current White House administration – from the President himself on down – defines CNN as “real news”. That America is stupid?

  3. A friend of mine (American) travels a lot – he phoned and complained to the airports and asked for a few TVs to display Fox News. He was told no dice – contractual obligations. Without those contracts, how many eyes would turn to them?
The quality of the programming is abysmal. Larry King? Joy Behar? Oh my, oh my.

  4. The results demonstrate once more the apparent preference of viewers for opinion-oriented shows from the news networks in prime time.
Er NO. It means the viewing public is not believing your so called news crap anymore.Calling bleet to spin this one.Or is that Michelle’s job, hulahoop star?

  5. What do you expect from a “news organization” that withheld stories of torture in Iraq by Saddam Hussein and now stumps for The Won by fact checking SLN skits.
Turn out the lights the party’s over…

  6. Just to point out the obvious …
The drop was probably so drastic because October 2008 was at the peak of election coverage, and all the people who are (generally speaking) “non-political” who voted for Obama were probably watching a news network with anchors that dream of fluffing Obama. In the process of being so pro-Obama, and being completely unwilling to take his balls out of their mouth to give honest assessments of the economy or his performance, CNN alienated a lot of the conservative and independant voters who were more regular TV news followers.

  7. Tell you what, there is nothing like traveling during election season and be surrounded by wall to wall Democrat propaganda. I used to look for places where I could just read a book. I wonder if, now that Obama is in charge, they will be studying surveillance tapes for people who do that?
    (It’s a joke, lefties)

  8. “The results demonstrate once more the apparent preference of viewers for opinion-oriented shows from the news…”
The inverse logic must apply to newspapers, where the ‘opinion-oriented’ format turned off millions of subscribers to the New York Times, L.A Times, etc. LOL

  9. The Teabagging network slips quickly away into utter and total irrelevance.
When MSNBC is cleaning your clock, you gotta know you are truly pathetic.

  10. Not to worry, CBC will survive and thrive with Petey Mansbridge now on his feet droning out the news of the day, unfiltered of course.

  11. Just got Telus TV and lots of free programming for a month…so….there’s FoxNews!…..and msnbc, etc…..
Time to tune in and check out the dreck.
Olberman…..Yeah, he’s on the payroll of the One, or the Demo party. Useless
Matthews…..much the same, nothing new here, of course, as a dyed in the wool Owebamabot, when you can’t defend his policies or actions (24 rounds of Golf, Owe, way to go!), you go on attack dog mode. It’s not working
    Maddow…….boring, next topic….
It’s good to see Fox News, but I have to admit, I don’t hacve the time to sit thru their afternoon/evening hosts, my preference is to catch Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity during the day over the internet……
Good bye CNN, you were good once, now, there’s no personality there…Joy Behar? YUK!

  12. For those who don’t have FOX on their TV here’s how to get it on line…FREE.
    http://www.blinkotv.com
Look for the “FOX news” link on the left hand and you are all set.
    CNN,
: Poor Canuck John Roberts on the AM spot. He looks so sad these days. Maybe City TV in Toronto would take him…Or he might go back to MUCH MUSIC as the oldest VJ in the world.
Since Obama was elected he seemed to have totally polarized the nation, ironically with the help of most of the MSM.
All the braindead hardcore lefties (20% of the population) moved to the extreme left MSNBC and the center lefts and centrists all flocked to FOX and joined the center rights and righties. This has left CNN preaching to the crickets. AH ah!
Lou Dobbs needs saving. He could be salvaged by FOX.
The rest can just move to Cuba or Mexico for all I care. Rick Sanchez could be their translator.

  13. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
This is the funniest thing I’ve read in some time. Makes one wonder if Wolf Blitzer is going to do a comprehensive analysis of this dramatic plunge!

  14. Actually, we’ve become a society engrossed in gossip…we’d rather listen to hours and hours of trash about Jacko or gruesome details of a missing child’s disappearance, hence Nancy Grace’s success. I, for one, prefer actual news to gossip; as well as partisan politicking! I think what the trend shows is an increase in the National Enquirer on TV! Too lazy to read, too lazy to formulate your own opinion…spoon feed me one more “little wafer”

  15. I noticed they didn’t mention Glenn Beck and CNN’s failure to resign someone who was clearly a franchise player. It’s obvious that ideology prevailed over quality in this case. Had that been the Patriots letting Tom Brady leave for the Jets; heads would have rolled a long time ago. How can CNN expect their customers to be satisfied when they’re not even trying to win; or should I say not trying to produce a good product.
When I started watching cable news I went directly to CNN. After a few months on what I perceived as bias and insulting commentary I dumped CNN. Alienated, I searched for a new channel to frequent and I found FOX news; years later I’m a regular FOX viewer and I don’t even get CNN(FOX news is not in the “news” package so I don’t subscribe to the “news” package). Name recognition got me in the CNN’s door and they couldn’t close the sale; that’s got to be extremely troubling for the CNN gang regardless of how they spin the numbers.

  16. Punctuation fixed:
“How can CNN expect their customers to be satisfied when they’re not even trying to win; or should I say not trying to produce a good product?”

  17. It looks like Cooper got hammered the most, which supports the idea that it was the contempt for the teabaggers.

  18. A friend of mine (American) travels a lot – he phoned and complained to the airports and asked for a few TVs to display Fox News. He was told no dice – contractual obligations. Without those contracts, how many eyes would turn to them?

And AIR CANADA only shows Communist Broadcasting Corporation

  19. Bill O’Reilly, the class act that he is, thanked his audience last night for placing Fox News at the top of the heap (again) for the October ratings. He deliberately avoided citing the specific numbers, however.

  20. Air Canada? Why would anyone know that? It would mean actually riding on one of there planes. What the hell is wrong with using a real company like WESTJET?
    LOL

  21. Joy Behar, BTW, is NOT on CNN. She’s on HLN.
    Posted by: set you free
Does anyone think this troll understands that these 2 are one in the same?
    just askin’

  22. set you free – thanks – I guess I incorrectly refer to HLN and CNN in the same breath. HLN is unwatchable from 7 PM until midnight – agree with Dan Gustzcak that it’s essentially a “tabloid for dummies”.
CNN proper is essentially unwatchable from 8 PM until midnight. I used to flip CNN/HLN on in the mornings for background noise while getting ready to go to work – now it’s the Food Channel for me – much more interesting and enlightening.

  23. Bill O’Reilly, the class act that he is, thanked his audience last night for placing Fox News at the top of the heap (again) for the October ratings. He deliberately avoided citing the specific numbers, however.

O’Reilly is a megalomanical moron. Imagine thinking you’re a “factor” in the unfolding of the universe. LOL. And imagine saying with a straight face that you are the proprietor of a no-spin zone.
The Moron Factor just grandly announced that he is “starting to lose his patience with the Obama administration”. STARTING!
Mind you, Hannity only recently had a EPIPHANY and has stopped asking the question: “What is it with the Whitehouse vetting” and thereby saved the few remaining strands of hair I still cling to. LOL. That said, I’m still — relatively speaking — a big fan of FOX.
Oh, in the all star panel on Bret Baeir (sp?) the other day, two of the three panel members, including Krauthammer, were OK with the “Pay Czar” decreeing a 90% pay cut in the state-owned firms and the nay-sayer was unable to explain why he disagreed. G-r-r-r-r.

  24. FREE:
If you would have bothered to read the story, it makes the distinction between CNN and points out the fact CNN is behind in ratings behind its former sidekick network.
Since when does pointing out facts make somebody a troll?
BTW, I was unfortunate enough to catch Behar last night. Stopped when I saw she was interviewing Joe the Plumber.
Behar could not comprehend that the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party movement despised both establishment parties in Washington and continued to robotically ask questions along the old Democrat vs Republican lines.
Like FREE, she just doesn’t get it.

  25. What did CNN expect? Half of their non-viewers are adults who want partiality instead of drooling over Obama like teen-aged girls and the other half are the same slacker-morons who wear Che t-shirts.

  26. Cannot say I am surprised. This is the network that fact checks an SNL skit but not the source of comments about Rush Limbaugh.

  27. Erik:
OK. As repulsive as it is to watch the show, it is educational to try and follow the twisted logic of the out-of-touch loony left.

  28. Hey doesn’t the high viewership from 08 rougly coincide with a contested national election? Forgive me if someone has pointed this out.

  29. CNN’s soporific programming with a liberal slant would lose to a test pattern on Fox News.

  30. From Zerohedge.com:
If anyone wants to know why CNBC anchors are so pale and nervous these days, look no further. As Comcast CEO Brian Roberts considers what to keep and what to, well, cut, post his digestion of NBC Universal (assuming deal rumors are true naturally) his eyes likely cast casual nervous glances at Nielsen reports of CNBC viewership. Yet his nervousness is quite minor compared to what actual employees must be feeling after Nielsen reported a 50% plunge in CNBC vierwership in October year over year. Specifically, CNBC has experienced a massive 52% decline in overall viewers during business day hours (5 am – 7 pm), and a not much better 49% drop in its demo (25-54) in the month of October as compared to last year. Specific shows that are likely to follow the fate of Dennis Kneale’s recently cancelled 8pm gobbledygook are likely the Kudlow Report and Mad Money, which are down 59% and 56%, respectively.

  31. Maybe it’s the wall to wall erectile disfunction ads, leaving the rest of the advertisement to every other conceivable malady known to man. One can only take so much of this crap without changing channels. One hour of CNN will age anyone by at least 20 years.

  32. I found myself watching Behar’s show (sorry Erik; try to think of it as Hallowe’en come early) for the first time two nights ago. I was rewinding a video so I caught maybe 3 minutes of it; just long enough to watch her agree with Gore Vidal (who apparently isn’t dead) that Obama’s real problem is that he’s too smart to be the President of people as stupid as Americans.
    Yep.

  33. MSNBC is no better……caught this guy named Radigan hosting the morning show, talking to a BD Demo regarding the ‘consumer’ option healthcare.
In discussing the gov plan, ratigan kept on saying “WE” in regards to the government….unbelievable!
Totally in the bag for the Obamacult

  34. What? You mean covering Michael Jackson’s death non-stop for weeks on end didn’t bring back a dedicated viewship? How could that be?
