Australia? Where the average daily temperature is “room”???

It always makes me laugh when we are seen as bigger polluters per capita than India or china….where they have billions of people..and they are still catching up at an astronomical rate.
It makes you wonder how badly we underestimate their pollution levels?
Bow to the green Marxists and freeze in the dark, Canada.
20.58 tons of nothing is still nothing. I challenge the greenies to show me just one pound of co2 that they collected out of the air. Maybe we should just convert and accept this crap, to stop the frog in the water affect. I believe that ever so slowly people are loosing the will to fight back against this scam. The comments on the site are people turning themselves into pretzels because of this.
When reading the comments posted on articles like this, why does my mind project a late teens/early twenty-something authoring the “we’re horrible carbon monsters and we have to act NOW to save the planet” drama while I visualize the skeptical correspondence being written by members of the 30+ crowd?
One of the many stumbling blocks at Copenhagen has been a new demand by the chindia contingent and it’s low emissions allies is that the first world countries have all of the carbon emissions they have emitted since the beginning of the industrial age included as part of any carbon credit system. They have a point. The end of this nonsense is near.
If the eco-weenies are so afraid of all this CO2, then why hasn’t there been a Jonestown koolade party or two, to lessen humanity’s carbon footprint?
First it was Bossy they wanted to get rid of and now Fido’s carbon paw print is being targeted. What’s the next logical step?
I still remember the TV weather report I watched in Australia over 15 years ago:
“Tomorrow, in Syndey, it will be fine. In Melbourne, it will be fine. In Adelaide, it will be fine. And in Perth… mostly fine.”
Emissions stated as a factor of per capita says nothing about the actual total emissions.
Those who use this comparison are too cute by half.
If that framing of the value was honest, then the solution could be to move millions of people from the developing countries to the energy-emitting countries.
Voila! Australia, Canada, and the United States would then be at par with the precious countries who are racing to catch up.
By the time that happened, those treehuggers would have had some time to see what exploding populations does to the balance of everything else.
Emissions per capita would become the least of their problems.
Wouldn’t it be nice to put all the tree-huggers on a fleet of airplanes and fly them to all these “gaia-friendly” countries? Imagine, they can live as their ancestors did 200 years ago…no car, no electricity, no running water, grow their own food, external latrines, no hospitalization, very little education. Their children can grow up illiterate and we’d never have to hear from these folks ever again.
Did you catch the flash banner at that site?
“Let’s turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen.”
Somebody got paid actual money for coming up with that.
Pity nothing climate-related is going on in LaGrange, Georgia.
I have only one thing to say to the Australians: Good on ya, mates!
Why do they count emissions per person when carbon is absorbed by the earth by area? The more trees and ocean you have the more carbon you absorb.
Lets see how Canada and Australia do in emmissions per km2!
Of course then the wrong people would be “guilty”
Are these the same eco-types complaining about per capita emissions that don’t want energy intensity reductions instead of TOTAL emissions?
Just curious.

Mr. X
Brings me to the old saying:
“If you are not Liberal minded by the age of 20, you have no heart” (Presumably, no heart to “save the planet” either)
and,
“If you are not Conservative minded by the age of 40, you have no brains” (Presumably not smart enough to understand fundamental human nature and it’s drawbacks either).
I share your viewpoint Mr. X and your observation is quite accurate IMO.
Rejoice though, most all kids today are bigger “consumers” than their parents anyway.
They will preach on their PC’s all day as long as what they preach don’t affect THEIR lifestyle thus pocketbook…
…Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.
Lefty junk thrives when the righties don’t counteract because they are too busy keeping the economy going. When significant economic downturn occurs, the left gets a good kick in the a** from sane voices. So, like CNN, Global Warming/Climate Change is on the loosing end of things and destined for oblivion.
China only emits 4.5T per person but they have 1.3 Billion of them 60% who live subsistence lifestyles.
It is green math, how about take everyone on the planet and see what the average footprint is? Surely that would be an interesting number and about as relevant as the ones they use.
On Helping Developing Countries with Climate Equalization Payments…
I know take the foreign aid sent to developing countries for the last 50 years and send them a bill for the carbon that was created in order to generate the wealth that allowed the aid to flow.
It is fair since the got the benefit of that wealth.
What really bugs me about these AGW sites is that they never ever have a comments section. What a bunch of sniveling cowards.
Y’know , this co2 buisness is getting serious.
I just about broke my neck, tripping over large chunks of co2 that fell on my sidewalk recently.
Somedays I can barely open my front door, there’s so much co2 built up around the doorway. Stuff’s invisible, a tripping hazard
Seems worse than last year….
Why can’t we just forget about this carbon thing altogether?
Reading daily news about carbon this and carbon that is nauseous. How long can we rub a non-issue – for 10 year? 20?
Yay, Aussieland!! I think we could turn this in to some very entertaining nail bitting international competition. I’d even tolerate a freeze your gonads off winter if it could put us on top next year!! Go Canuckistan!!!
Mr. X @ 8:08 and RHTT, remember the sixties saying: “Don’t trust anyone over 30.” That’s what came to my mind when I read Mr. X’s comment. The more things change……
I wonder what the per capita rate is for just the 10% or 15% of India & China’s populations that are middle or upper class? Could it be that the numbers are severely skewed to the point that that 10 or 15% are closer to the intensity of Canada, the US and Australia than any of these greens would care to admit?
Time for national tire fire week .
As a dual citizen, I usually refrain from commenting on any OZ-CAn issues. But I see that my home and native land is ahead here.

KennyK:
Yup, figures Louise would be in favour of a “freeze your gonads off” winter – what’s she got lose?! ;}
dang – hit post, not preview.
“What’s she got to lose” – now I’ve ruined my own joke. Oh, the humility..
I have cousins from Australia who claimed that fourteen degrees Celsius was too cold. True story.
Maybe these “concerned citizens” should examine China’s extraordinary pollution problems before pointing fingers at Western nations that at least try to contain waste.
“Forecast for Alice Springs…”
LOL! Just trying to be polite. Don’t take it personally, guys. Also wanted to make it past Kate’s filter.
Came across a young zealot holding forth about this CO2 crisis.
My first question was what warming? It’s been cooling for a decade. He countered that NASA and Hadley reported warming. the IPCC reported warming….
I responded that the IPCC report translated to a plea to continue their funding junk science.
NASA’s ARGO global system of 3000 buoys had only detected cooling and that Hadley seems to have lost their data.
At that point this kid had a hissy fit, called me a racist and said rude things about Bush and Palin…
..he lost his audience………
Sasquatch, it’s worse:
Commented on the whole grocery bag / eco thing at the checkout, when the young male cashier (16 or 17) tried to give me the global warming lecture. I asked him where he got his facts, his reply:
“Well, my Dad’s a teacher and that’s what he told me”.
It’s gonna take years to de-environut these people.
The really sad thing is that “pollution” has become equated with “CO2”. Apparently India and China can have toxic clouds of God knows what hanging over their cities, and be considered green, whereas us evil Westerners are murdering the planet through plant food. Go ahead and dump all the mercury, lead, or whatever else you want into the environment, just ease up on the carbon dioxide.
Hey first timer……
Exactly!
Not one poster here can argue against real pollution, like what ends up in the water in most of the world.
So many idiots here in North America are missing the bigger problem, IMHO.
There are many in the “third world” just happy to play along with this carbon thing while pollution of their rivers and cities cause more widespread and longer lasting environmental damage than a Canadian nuclear storage facility.
Jeff K, not to sound too religious, but amen to your comment, in spades.
Need to crank up the hot tub another couple degrees, gonna leave it open, too. Freaking Aussies, always stealing our mojo!
