Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your Thanksgiving delectation, here are Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Sam Jones, Hank Jones, and Art Blakey performing Autumn Leaves (10:58) from their 1958 Blue Note Records album Somethin’ Else.

After yesterday’s LNR show, listener Marc in Calgary wrote in to ask about the configuration of the equipment I use here in the studio to produce the show. Here is a schematic drawing. Note the critical appearance of one of these:

    I’ve always been partial to Eva Cassidy, to those who are unfamiliar with her work, I strongly advise you check her stuff out. Her version of “Fields of Gold” is quite incredible.

    the set up is perfect for watching “the Wizard of Oz” and syncronizing Pink Floyds “Dark Side of the Moon” as the alternative sound track. a great project , most of it lines up anyway. use the MGM lion as the needle cue.

If you follow my link supra to Marc’s nudiustertian comment, Joe, you will find that he asked whether or not my studio stereophonic set-up is as eclectic as my selections and B.Sc.(EE) might indicate? It was in answer to that question that I supplied the schematic drawing, and you must admit that the DBX 500 is nothing if not eclectic 😉

  34. Well Vitruvius, I do enjoy the eclectic mix of odd and unusual tunes. What I found most captivating however, was the inclusion of an HP-67? Surely now, you are not actually using ancient technology in these days of wikis and iphones?

  36. Thanks!! I had a host of electronic equipment when I was a “younger” kid. My favorite was a Shortwave-Fm-Am-8-track-cassette-Quadraphonic stereo that I put together using a “Zenith Allegro” and a “Radio Shack” amp, among other equipment.
