Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your Thanksgiving delectation, here are Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Sam Jones, Hank Jones, and Art Blakey performing Autumn Leaves (10:58) from their 1958 Blue Note Records album Somethin’ Else.
After yesterday’s LNR show, listener Marc in Calgary wrote in to ask about the configuration of the equipment I use here in the studio to produce the show. Here is a schematic drawing. Note the critical appearance of one of these:

Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

Don’t forget that blowing through the mute requires extra effort. Not unlike plugging-in another amp.
… I like the jazz. Miles Davis in particular.
I looked without delight twice, for the french curve “Timesaver #26” although I’m not here to bitch or anything… very interesting Vitruvius
Aye, Glasnost, and for those who are wondering, here is the

Re: The schematic … Just as I figured!
So Vitruvius, where do the human ears go in that schematic? đ
Either everywhere, Dave, or in the Koss Pro-4AA Headphones
node, depending on whether or not invoking the power amplifiers
would incur my neighbours’ wrath at this time of day đ

Very nice selection!
I’ve always been partial to Eva Cassidy, to those who are unfamiliar with her work, I strongly advise you check her stuff out. Her version of “Fields of Gold” is quite incredible.

Daniel – thanks for posting that. Kinds of cut thru to the heart of the matter, I would say.
Nice to see someone else owns a DBX500.
Should be “Technics”, not “Techniques” for your turntable and cassette.
People seem to be touchy about that Frenchy stuff around here… đ

And here I felt just silly with my AU777 and TU777
becuse I only use them as a, um … stereo.
Always happy to see someone worse-off than me!

“Biggest news youâve never heard: Earth isnât warming”
“Taken together, what does it all mean?
âClimate change â no matter how benign or severe a course it takes â makes legislating during the 21st century one of the most complicated and complex tasks for elected officials in human history,â writes Morgan Josey Glover in the Greensboro, N.C., News-Record newspaper.”

“Climate Myths and National Security
Viscount Monckton of Brenchley
The President of the United States recently told the United Nations that “global warming” poses a threat to national security and may engender conflicts as populations are displaced by rising sea levels, droughts, floods, storms etc. etc. etc. However, it is now clear that there is no basis for the notion that the barely-detectable human influence on the climate is likely to prove a threat to climate, still less to national security.
The first principle to which any national security advisor must adhere is that of objective truth. Though he must have an understanding of politics, he is not a politician: he is a truth-bearer. Therefore, he begins by narrowing down the issue to a single, central question whose answer determines whether the suggested threat is real. He then tries to find the truthful answer to that question, and draws his conclusion from that.”

“What happened to global warming?
his headline may come as a bit of a surprise, so too might that fact that the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998.
But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.
And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise.”

Vitruviue:
I don’t understand your technology. You’re providing your viewers with a link to Youtube and a host of various performances, that I enjoy very much. Howevah! What does the DBX have to do with that??
If you follow my link supra to Marc’s nudiustertian comment, Joe, you will find that he asked whether or not my studio stereophonic set-up is as eclectic as my selections and B.Sc.(EE) might indicate? It was in answer to that question that I supplied the schematic drawing, and you must admit that the DBX 500 is nothing if not eclectic đ
Eclectic is maybe 1 word for it haha.
Well Vitruvius, I do enjoy the eclectic mix of odd and unusual tunes. What I found most captivating however, was the inclusion of an HP-67? Surely now, you are not actually using ancient technology in these days of wikis and iphones?
Good on ya, if you are.
Ah. Just found your collection of templates. Have a few of those myself! Your educational background obviously parallels mine, and your interests similar.
Definitely – good on ya.
Thanks!! I had a host of electronic equipment when I was a “younger” kid. My favorite was a Shortwave-Fm-Am-8-track-cassette-Quadraphonic stereo that I put together using a “Zenith Allegro” and a “Radio Shack” amp, among other equipment.
