  1. I’ve been itching to see what happens when Danielle Smith takes over the WRA leadership.
When I saw her speak, she was very impressive. Her policies are going to be very popular with Albertans, I think.

  2. It isn’t a surprise that a conservative riding voted for a conservative. Honestly, there was only one to vote for.
    GO WILDROSE! and GO DANIELLE!

  3. As much as I would love to see a female premier, I think the rednecks within my province (and they are MANY) won’t. And if the PCs replace Ed with Ted, the WRA is dead.

  4. I’m pretty sure that Ted Morton is happy to be out of spotlight at this moment. His time to lead the PCs is near. The Calgary caucus has probably started the punt Ed whisper campaign.

  5. Wild Thaing, the term red neck is so fricken old and has lost all its meaning so please be specific of who you are referencing.
This family man/ allows his wife to stay home and raise the kids/ hunter/ fishermen/ tradesman////// would find Danielle(a women) to be a great leader of this province.
Mr. Morton for being a conservative, sure has kept his mouth shut on many liberal policies passed by this so called conservative government. Seems to me he would just be another loosey goosey.

  6. In Solbergs old riding , which I live in , going west of Redcliff on the way to work at CFB Suffield we pass a rig yard . It’s full of drilling ris that were working before Red Eds new royalty program .And not just rigs . Highway tractors , trailers ,pick-up trucks , tanks , everything related to drilling a well is parked . Atta boy , Ed

  7. Yeah, Ed, why can’t you get the price of oil back over $70 a barrel again?
When you do, the oil companies will be hiring again.
    It’ll be a while, though.
It’s going to take a lot of sitting on the sidelines to shrink the oversupply of oil and natural gas.
Why did Ed allow this buildup to happen?

  8. Listening to the radio on my drive home today, it seems Ed Strom thinks that this election outcome is the result of people being concerned about the economy. I think Harry Stelmach is either lying or a little dense, the real cause of the PC upset is concern over the total lack of leadership and vision in the PC Party.
I look forward to voting WRA in the next provincial election.

  9. Yeah, what enkidu says.
We’ll toss you out and replace you with the New Social Credit Party.

  10. Congratulations to Paul Hinman and his historic by-election win for the Alberta Wildrose Alliance Party!
Albertans are now on their way to being free of socialist government. And, just maybe, someday Saskatchewan people will soon be free of socialist government too…

  11. Yeah, Ted’s gonna take over the Progressive Party. Good one. I bet the likes of Lukasik, or whatever his name is, and the Lefty block of Calgary-Edmonton PC MLAs will love that. Mark Sept. 14 down on your calender folks- this is the beginning of the end of the Alberta PC Party- and not coincidentally, the start of PC attack dog Mark Norris’ leadership campaign. Next election, PCs, Liberals and NDP will split the Alberta Progressive vote. The conservatives will go en masse to WRAP. I can’t wait to see the PCs and Liberals outdo each other to fearmonger about the WRAP. Interesting times ahead…

  12. Bwahahahahaha. Just heard Red Ed say on global that it was time to start moving to the right after the by-election.This at the SAME time he was announcing the closing of 350 more hospital beds due to lack of funds!
WTF???? he could OPEN 500 more beds by just canning the CEO,CFO,COO,etc of the so called health boards. Some socialists never learn. Yer Dead,Ed.

  13. If the party runs a candidate in my riding this election I will vote, otherwise I’ll abstain like I did last provincial election…

  14. Special Ed is utterly loathed in Calgary. Now that the Eastern leftists have moved on as Ed’s royalty screw-job sent their jobs packing, more of his base has declined. Calgary-Glenmore showed that if you give voters a non-leftist choice, they will go there in droves. As for the comment about splitting the right vote and risking the left coming up through the middle… this is Alberta. As long as the right vote doesn’t get split by more than three or four, we’re fine! Right now, Ignorant Ed is splitting the left vote…

  15. I for one will welcome Daniel Smith as the new leader of the WRA. And then again as the new Premier of Alberta. I had to laugh at the guy who said red neck Albertan’s would never accept a woman as premier, that was a nice try though. The left is so afaid of Daniel that they are framing her as Harper with heels. Paul is the first elected and will not be the last.

  16. So Special Ed the Red won’t congratulate the man who won last night. As Corb Lund says in one of his songs, “Mighty neighbourly, mighty neighbourly”.
Oh by the way Eddie: When there is a Wildrose candidate running in my riding I’ll be voting Wildrose. Not that you would notice mind you as I quit voting PC when you decided that your huge surplus was not enough and jacked the royalties.
I never worked in the patch but I have had opportunity to help many who worked there for years. Of course they aren’t working there now but then uncertain royalty rates kinda do that, I hope you realize.
