… but including intelligence officers from at least 20 nations including allies, the book says, the infiltrators are stealing an estimated $20 billion to $30 billion annually worth of cutting-edge research in products and technologies, other scientific, business and military know-how and political secrets.

Over 371 pages, the pair expose an astonishing parade of spy-vs.-spy and espionage stories, from Tretiak and other Russian post-Cold War escapades to allegations of India’s suspected involvement in the 1985 Air India disaster.
They reveal the hidden hand of Chinese intelligence in getting the House of Commons in 2007 to shame China’s old enemy Japan for its treatment of foreign women during the Second World War, allege political assassinations within Canada’s ethnic diaspora and explain how reductions to CSIS’s counter-intelligence budget mean some of the service’s elite agents, assigned to monitor suspected foreigners, no longer work weekends in Canada’s big cities.
But their chief message is denouncing “the silence and inaction” of a succession of federal governments more interested in trade and diplomatic relations than crime and punishment, demoralizing the relatively few CSIS and RCMP managers and counter- espionage agents who haven’t been re-assigned to post-9/11 counter-terrorism duties.

“…the inaction of a succession of Federal governments more interested in trade [than crime]…” brings the term “useful idiots” to mind.
“Led by the Chinese…”
No, led by fake conservative bloggers who support open immigration, genius.
“Available at Harper Collins”
Save your money, it’s got false flag/grey ops written all over it. Do you think the author is your friend who genuinely wants to tell you the truth about Canada’s espionage service and collusion with anti-western civilization entities? Of course not, dummies.
Myself, I eagerly await Kate’s memoirs of her time as a CSIS informer, ratting out clueless conservatives and free speech supporters to her handlers.
Not bloody likely . . . you got it buddy. You speak the truth.
I also know she was involved in 9/11 . . I personally saw Kate at the World Trade buildings working on the elevator repairs and leaving the building with cutting torches and cans of paint labeled “Super Nano Thermite. Her and hundreds of other ninja building demolition experts, night after night, month after month.
And if you are looking for the missing Flight 73 aircraft . . . hint: Look in Delisle.
A perfect CSIS Sleeper Agent that your brilliant deductive powers has outed. Too smart for your pants man, just too smart.
Time for your Order of Canada.
There is no need to rat anyone out – it’s on the Internet, genius.
“Delisle-ful” of spies!! ‘not bloody likely’.
You don’t know “Hu” they are or “Wen” they are coming.

When the Chinese sleeper agent rings the doorbell at 3:00AM, who’s going to answer it?
You or your partner?
Is it possible that some Chinese rice may be loaded with maliciously programmed nano-bots? Geez, just when you thought it was safe to get in the shower!
And y’all thought Spy vs Spy was just a Mad magazine cartoon…
Boob (Hi! I’m Canada’s “liberal leader”; and my Uncle is, uh, er …..) Rae: here for your electation is “Prime Time Crime”, featuring a ca$t of crooks, too numerous to iterate here, from the Liberal Ad$Cam file.

“Jean Chretien and the Sidewinder Report
By Ann Jane Gray
In this WatchDog article, I will examine Prime minister Jean Chretien’s connections to those companies and individuals mentioned in the Sidewinder Report. The Sidewinder Report, as readers recall, examined links of Chinese-triads and the Chinese government to Canadian-based corporations.
Jean Chretien’s employment by Gordon Capital from 1986-1990 was his first public association with individuals identified by the Sidewinder Report as a threat to Canada’s public security. Chretien’s position as an advisor was a lucrative one and left him a wealthy man.
Chretien’s ties to Gordon Capital continue to this day, in the person of Marc Fung, son of Gordon Capital’s former vice-president during Chretien’s tenure, Robert Fung. Marc Fung travelled with the federal Liberals on Team Canada trips to Asia and was, as of May 2002, an aide in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Gordon Capital is one of the financial companies used in the Sidewinder Report as a case study on the links between China, Hong Kong billionaires and Canadian financial institutions that are “clearly worrying for Canada’s national security”. The RCMP’s concern arose over Li Ka-Shing, the father of the owner of the company, Richard Li.”

BTW, Fred. It’s Ordure of Canada.
Typical…idiot leftists don’t have a frigging CLUE who they’re getting into bed with!
(that seems to be true in many different ways…)
Just because YOU want to be all nicy-nice and join hands and sing kumbaya, it doesn’t follow that the rest of the world is going to want to join in. In fact, the overwhelming majority of them are going to use it as an opportunity to take advantage of you! Time to grab a clue and stop giving away the farm…time to stop giving away MY farm!
Chretien should be charged with high treason and sent to the block.
This hardly comes as a surprise. It’s been going on for years — starting with Trudeau shutting off all major counter-espionage efforts in the name of preserving wheat “sales” (did we ever actually receive payment for any of those?) to the former Soviet Union.
Espionage was so ingrained in the fabric of communist nations that Aeroflot, Intourist and Sputnik (the youth travel/exchange agency) were all sub-organs of the KGB. The Chinese took their espionage organizational principles from the Soviets. Industrial espionage has, of course, been the dominant focus for years. But previously, moles, sleeper cells and the tried and true methods for compromising westerners of interest were all in use. It’s pathetic that Canadians in general and our leadership in particular (of all political stripes) is so hopelessly naive as to ignore the huge cost this infestation of spies imposes.
“The Sword and the Shield” and “The Black Book of Communism” have extraordinary troves of well-researched facts about the destructive nature of communism (“The Sword and the Shield” mentions Trudeau specifically).
Question: why aren’t we cutting off China at the knees? Why do we need to train slave labourers to take OUR jobs? Did the Chinese mention how they are buying and abusing North Korean women? Why do we need to sell them patches of OUR land? Niagara pear farmers have to give sway to Chinese pears. That’s right. No more Niagara pears.
I say we arm Japan and South Korea (if not let them heavily arm themselves) and ring the dinner bell on China.
The Political Party (CPC) will listen if you become a member and get involved in the Policy meetings. That is the only place where this sort of subject can be discussed with any effect. You have to talk other members who have been distracted by the MSM Bu11 $hit of the day and lead them into paying attention to real issues. You can try this with other Parties but I would strongly suggest you would be wasting your time. Canada is loosing as much in stolen industrial innovation as we are in the drug war.
We have to get the co-operation of the US in protecting patent rights at the border. Instead we force a patent/copyright owner into a long expensive chase after the infringement. Often the stolen innovation has had tax money involved in development.
Get involved.
Too late. The politicians have to keep in mind, that many foreigners of interest have become Canadian citizens and established Canadian businesses by now. Joe Public would dismiss that as BS and yell ‘deportation!’ but that will never materialize.
If people able to tell the truth and freedom of speech there is nto need to have spy any more
In fact some time not only some people steal some people ideas
but also I noticed in Canada
if they can not steal it they roll you over to not allow you to continue your job by
disable you by not talk not work and nto gain any damage or not allow to control your own business and secret formula of your food you are eating
there is so much interference in Canada was seen that some one like to take some idea and they coem with nice face first
then they hidenly try to copy your idea
when you notice you are out of door or harrass you to allow them to detroy you or stay quiet under law
when we asked tehm why you do so much illegal competiton to take or steal the engine without have employee to run that engine
they will respond peope copy and steal this is Canada court of canada is only court who allow peopel take your business steal by new lable and not have riht to talk or put claim or back to gain any pie or any inventory to it.
they are not appreacite or praise inventor at all or in fact they are more envy and jelous deal with them
some people may get nobel prize for stop war ot help so many people to not die
now some peopel in future need to made new nobel price for peopel who save so many businss by stop the fight and focue to work back more than fight over claim out of it if we can stop peopel fighting nd united and put businss back we are winner of noble price too
Tretiak the hockey idol recruiting other kinds of talent? no.
that’s hero worship for you !!
“Chretien should be charged with high treason and sent to the block.”
___
At the very least, he should undergo the same scrutiny as Mulroney — who gets raked over the coals for a lousy $300,000 business deal AFTER he leaves office. I never understood why the media gave all of Chretien’s shenanigans a pass.
spies can be destroy so many thing
I understand all countries has spies but this can be lead more controvery increast two faces
and one group can made up story to help some scene built by thier plan for more than two years
and that is not obvious who tell the truth
and destroy trust among people
except the life and death involve and crime then we can say some must get reported other than that
being spy is not good and has more disadvanatge taht so many court sysem can be corrutped by intention of put some one innocet scene it he is guilty
If country is good and legal all people with free speech help them to built beter direction
like all weapone come to hand of both sides where is come from this is come from two face peopel
CIA usually did more to spy depend it and Pentagon to drop bomb I do not see any of both can be more hurtfull to person go to country and walk by walk to find who is guilty to punich them
like Regan drop bomb and kill Libby 4 years child and he kill revenged and kill more htna 100 English fly that is nasty way of doing justice
even I watched the liby history yesterday in CBC and the one suitcae find by hand of employee of German air port for me this is can be fishy to me!
I just finished the fascinating – and disturbing – autobiographical “Red Horizons” by Mihai Pacepa. In his book Pacepa reveals the astounding measures employed by anti-capitalist foreign governments to influence policy and steal state and industrial secrets from the west. Canada’s CANDU nuclear program is one of many programs that were infiltrated and compromised, at huge cost to Canadians.
I highly recommend the book.

I think the author is right.
I am not surprised that Chinese have very good intelligence (read: spy ) services. After all their industry started with stolen western blue-prints and the communist party still rules China. It is the communist party that allow Chinese people to have capitalist-like economy but otherwise the communists decide in what direction China is going, what the Chinese people are reading on the internet and what they should believe in. Majority of Chinese people in the west have families in China so they could be pressured if necessary and many of the Chinese people studying in the west are the sons and daughters of high and middle communist party members. They have the money and many of them spy, because they know that spying is one of the method to put their country into the better position vis-a-vis other countries.
Example – during the Olympic in China all hotels where western guests were staying were bugged.
It is the same with the Russians – they are once again spying in Europe and in the Americas.
Of course other countries spy too, for example I have read that when some people (techies) were going to Israel their notebooks were taken for check-up and during that check-up the hard-drive was copied out…. Israel is trying to outcompete others in computer/bio industries.
In France some businessmen have to be very careful what they are talking about. French spying is also concentrating on new technologies.
So our “alies” also spy, only their spying is concentrating on new technologies, new inventions. Our enemies concentrate on new technologies AND military technologies.
But in Canada some people think “it is not bloody likely” to quote a commenter here. Because all is love and peace, you see.
ella; you’re right. Most people don’t think these things through. A friend, today, just discarded my comments re China spying with a “who cares as long as we rake in the money”. Thing is; we can sell the milk; we don’t have to sell the cow and the barn as well.
Many disregard anything out of line with peace and love, as you say, as lies or trash talk. They can’t get it through their heads, for example, that the Afghanistan Mission is about more than sending kids to school.
Folks, there’s a reason why they call espionage the world’s second oldest profession. Countries act in their own national interests first and foremost (as well they should); if they believe those interests require a measure of “spying”, they’ll cheerfully engage in it (as well they should).
Instead of being fussed about the fact that other countries spy on us, our focus should be on countering such activities and minimizing them effectively whenever we can.
And, as a sovereign state, we should cheerfully spy on other countries should our own national interests demand it.
