    I’m a conservative and a supporter of the Conservative Party. I support PM Stephen Harper. I am a Westerner. There are a few basic facts we must accept in Canada. First: We have a lousy constitution that doesn’t work and likely never will work. Second: Our election will provide the following results; Ontario will decide who forms government and Quebec will decide if we have majority or minority government.
    I would very much prefer to be wrong but I’m sure I’m not.

  14. I don’t know about you all, but I would rather have flaming matchsticks poked into my eyes that suffer through another Canadian general election. Oh the dreary tedium of it all.
    I suppose there will be one little bit of interest in it all, though. As The Messiah’s term floats in the punchbowl down south, the northern political ninnies who sailed to sea on the wave of Oneness will have to do some fancy footwork. The spin doctors have their work cut out for them.

  15. Any Party that forces an election will feel the wrath of the population.
    Maybe this time we can get the majority we need, I suspect that the Liberals will be weaker than last time because the platform looks the same, as far as I can tell so far, as the Green Shift with different program names.
    As much as Iggy does not understand this he will be made aware that the party policies not the leader are what sunk the Liberals last time.
    My fear is an even bigger gain for the NDP and Bloq and weaker minority for the Conservatives unless we can get the people out to actually vote this time. That would be my primary strategy, turning out the “right” voters.

    The truth be told is if every right wing conservative who loves this country “can’t stand another election “, and will “drop off the grid”, Then in all honesty you will get what you deserve.
    It is important that you vote other wise there will be no hope for conservatives of any kind ,be it independant’s or harper supporters ,or what ever.Myself i am upset that harper bailed out the govornment motors ,as well gave the gay pride parade my tax dollars, other than that i think he is doing pretty darn good and he WILL get my vote.
    I have also done alittle sideline campaigning as well, it appears the parent’s of the 19-35 crowd really didn’t educate there kids on freedom democracy and the importance of voting.
    I live in calgary and i alone have gotten 8 new conservative voters just by explaining simple politics to them over a beer or 12, The left the right,conservative ,liberal,the ndp,the greenies, and all of that and that was enough to help them to understand where they stand politically. No joke or offence to any dipper or greentard, but all 8 people do not understand your exsitence.My friend actually asked me “ISN’T the ndp party like communist kinda?”.I did as best as i could to be non biased.I offerd all of the political websites for them to check out. All of them wanted smaller govornment, As well they felt that if we can’t say what we feel in fear of hurting someones feeling’s then “how fair is that isn’t freedom of speech to protect thing’s we may say that might hurt peoples feeling’s? ” “not to protect complimenting people” LMAO.

  33. The Liberal Party is all for the Kyoto Accord and a carbon tax, and the NDP sees itself as a more credible “green” party than the Greens.
    How responsible is it, for those professing to care about the environment, to have our 4th election in 5 years? Do Ignatieff, Layton and seat-less May not squander paper, plastic (the horror!), FUEL, and so many other commodities campaigning? What a bunch of wasteful hypocrites!

In one of his early books “A Russian Album” he dumps on his Russian uncles, who escaped from the Bolshevik hoards in the Soviet Union by the skin of their teeth (and help from their English governess) because they didn’t end up bigshots in the foreign counties (Canada and the UK) they landed in; MIMI is the epitome of ‘entitled’ IMO. He wants to be Prime Minister …and he is ‘not a patient man’ (his own words). If he looses an election I bet he runs across the border to be a Czar in BOB’s (Barack O’ Bama) Totalitarian set-up. He will pack the day he looses because all he cares about in Canada is a park in Quebec – he is that shallow, IMO.

  39. Good for you Paul, I like a person with enthusiasm. Precisely what the Conservative’s need to keep Canada out of the hands of “the party of entitlement”.
    In my case however, I have been voting for longer than you have been around and frankly I am tired of trying to explain the obvious. Also, given the fact that I live in a province that just elected the NDP to save them from the mean old world and I’m also in Alexa McDonough’s old riding, I get more intellingent responses from my pets.

    This is exactly what this election is about: defeating Stephen Harper, even though he was voted in as Canada’s duly elected prime minister less than a year ago.
    This election is not about what’s best for Canadians; it’s all about how to get Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the CPC out of office.
    It’s a power grab, pure and simple, by the lib-leftists who care not a whit for average Canadians who are working hard to make a living and pay their bills.
    I’m DISGUSTED by the transparent and mean-spirited politicking from the left, foisting a totally unnecessary election on us so that they can retake the reins of power. They’re totally wasting OUR money, something that seems not to worry them at all.
    This isn’t democracy. It’s a leftist takeover. I really hope they’ve overstepped their bounds and are soundly punished at the polls.
