But that would involve him taking a position that he takes responsibility for.
That’s not the way Obama rolls, he is a “big picture/ideas” guy.
I have known a few in my career…there are other words used to describe these characters
“Present” has always been good enough to get by, why should he change now that he is POTUS ?
If they want direction? They should be asking the telemprompters.
In fairness, as president, he’s supposed to be a “big ideas” guy.
However, he does have a responsibility to ensure that his big ideas are sufficiently comprehensible to his administration that they can do the staff work and attend to the details.
JJM I agree with you that the big Owe should be the ideas man the problem is, no one has ever seen an original idea from him.
I think it’s high time that every conservative in the US and Canada needs to repeat the mantra over and over again to everyone in earshot:

He has the big ideas but personality is not going to trump practical practices. Reality will come out in the end. When nobody reads the legislation it won’t end well. When it does not matter if you read it or not it won’t end well and when you out and out lie…
I heard a TV talking head yesterday making excuses for him on this that he’d only been in office a few months, so he couldn’t be expected to have worked out all the healthcare details yet. Yeah.

This is why you do not elect a dreamer to political office. Obama’s grand ideas are not only unworkable and expensive but he doesn’t really know how to implement them. That “damned American public” won’t support his nanny state and no “hope and change” slogan will fix things.
He’s been a fraud his whole life. He didn’t write his own books. Ayers wrote Dreams From My (Bomber)Father. Does anyone know this besides Ayers? He could be blackmailed. This is the far more interesting story than the birth certificate, but it’s poison for conservatives except for a couple of gutsy places like American Thinker.

One term prez fur sure…I don’t even think Americans will put up with him until 2012; civil wise anyway.
Like I said a few times here at SDA, I believe Barry will quit and/or be impeached/removed before his term is complete.
At the very least, the boy will tire before 2012. He’s already showing signs of immaturity via impatience because he wants to rule like a dictator. Too much ‘work’ in dealing with a democracy.
Being a narcissist and the honeymoon already over, Barry will see no more value for himself as Prez soon.

Hilarious. Another good juxtaposition. Obama is clearly repeating a pattern, where he makes some grand pronouncements, and does nothing but publicize his announcements with his informercials on prime-time TV. Meanwhile, his minions do all the work, drafting the work with absolutely no direction or guidance.

The problem for Obama is that it is not his minions doing the work, but rather Congress. From the get go, he could have had his White House team draft legislation and submit it to Congress, thereby grabbing the initiative and putting Congress in the awkward position of saying no to a popular and recently elected President.
That however would have been hard work. A lot of thinking, discussions and reading what your people came up with. He apparently has not changed much from his Harvard Law Review days.

As for Obama, he lives in a world of his own authorship. He long ago retreated from reality and set up his own cocooned world where he controlled what happened. He only interacts with people whom he feels he can control. You literally don’t exist if he feels he can’t control you.
And he learned how to manipulate people to achieve this control – by misinformation, ‘tall tales’, and by manipulative charm. And, accusations of bias if you didn’t agree with him.
It’s easy to live in a fictional world; it’s all words. Charming words. No reality. Obama’s fictional world of campaign promises is utopian. Matching utopia to reality can’t be done. But Obama, since he MUST control this world, MUST get his ‘ideas’ through Congress. Or he will feel he has failed to control the world, failed to control Congress. He’ll feel, psychologically, threatened. And someone as narcissistic as he is, can be dangerous when that self-esteem is threatened.
Obama himself has no idea about Health Care. Or the economy. Or anything. He’s not someone who thinks through problems; (he’s never written a single article), not someone who analyzes anything based on empirical facts and logic. He only dreams up utopian worlds. Period.
Obama doesn’t CARE what kind of health care is passed by Congress; his only agenda is that they pass something…so that HE can say: I did it. It’s all about HIM, about Obama. Not about health care or the American well-being.
Watch him cajole, insist that America is ‘in a state of crisis’ (that’s a favourite line of his); that there’ll be an apocalpytic result if you don’t do what he wants….(he did this with his stimulus bill which is having disastrous results which the WH is hiding)…Then, he’ll move on from the threats…to the sweet talk, to cajoling, to appeals to pity…and etc. Oh, and watch..he’ll bring in race as well.
Did you know that since Obama’s taken over, accusations of ‘feeling discriminated because of race’ have risen over 30% in the US? I wonder why; I wonder why the Great Uniter, as he insisted he was, is actually dividing people into separate adversarial blocs?

Actually, puttng aside opinions on Obama one way or the other, it would be downright refreshing for any politician to say, “Well, that’s it. One term is enough for me. Time I got out of the way and let someone with new ideas have a shot.”
As if that would happen…

I always come back to the selling of PET to the Canadian electorate; we shouldn’t be to smug here.
I predict that Obama’s speech will play on his three tactics: misinform, manipulate using emotions of fear and hope; and accusations of bias.
So – he’ll misinform us; he’ll say that ‘His’ stimulus package has worked – when we know that job losses have increased far beyond his predictions and that the stimulus, rather than going for infrastructure, went to pay-back Democratic pork projects. But he’ll tell us that ‘his administration’ has shown that It Worked. He’ll dare us to not trust us. He’ll dare us to not believe him.
Obama’s primary aim is the preservation and protection of his own fictional world; he wants His Agenda to Be a Success. So, he’ll tell us that it is.
Remember, a utopian fictional world can never also be a real world. Obama lives only in that fictional world. He’ll do anything to protect it. Not protect us or America. But protect His Fictional World. That’s all he cares about.
He’ll insist that we accept it as real. He’s attacking our right and duty and capacity to think.
Obama will then manipulate us by fear. He’ll declare that He Save the Economy and now, Health Care is In Crisis. The sky will fall unless it’s fixed. Right now. Immediately. He’ll attack us emotionally, threatening dire consequences unless we Do As He Says.
What is his Agenda? He’s protecting His Fictional World. His Fictional World includes a health care package that is passed. That’s all he cares about. He’s not interested in the content of the package. Only in the Content of His Fictional World.
Then, he’ll move on to accusations of bias. He’ll accuse the Republicans of ‘partisanship’ in holding up His Bill…not because the bill is a mess but because..they are Republicans.
And watch – he’ll bring in race and ethnic minorities as well. He’ll accuse any who do not pass this bill as harming ‘other peoples’. Watch him do that.
Three strategies. Misinformation. Manipulation using the emotions of fear and hope. And accusations of bias.
All – to control you and maintain his fictional world. Nothing to do with what’s good for America or Americans. It’s that fictional world, the Obama World, that matters.

actually it has been suggested that the Zero was groomed. This could explain the “present” hand wave in the senate, as he committed to no coarse of action and therefore could not be faulted on policy, he had none. Who groomed him, the extreme lefty jewish cabal in chicago, that’s who. axlerod and rahm are the puppet masters.
If in the next six months or so cap and trade and healthcare reforms fail, as it now lokks very likely they will, the remaining three years of this pygmy presidency will be the exact opposite of what i anticipated:
It will be a very long frustrating, agonizing three years for democrats and obamites rather than those on the right.
In four years it may become difficult to find people openly admitting they voted for BO, just as it was difficult to find people whi would admit they voted for carter in ’76 in’80.
Think of the Obummer as a big empty bad. What happens when you reach into an empty bag? Your hand comes out with nothing. That is what American has for a President – a big empty bag.

Gord, I’m cautiously optimistic that’s the road The One. Things can turn around awfully quickly in politics, but The One is trying to aggressively govern in an extreme left-wing manner, in a centre-right country. This will end badly for The One. This will end badly for the Democrats. This will end badly for all those who conspired to put this empty suit in the White House. I say, “Good!”
And, should things continue to fall off the rails for The One as quickly as they are, America may yet come away from this one-term Abomination relatively unscathed.
