Who Is This “John Galt”?

Is there nothing that Obama can’t do?

Tim Hortons to fold U.S. business into Canadian entity
The company has filed a notice with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission stating that it wants to reorganize itself as a “Canadian public company” in order to take advantage of decreasing Canadian corporate tax rates.
The reorganization would regroup the company’s U.S. and Canadian business units under a single entity incorporated under Canada’s federal company statute, the Canada Business Corporations Act.

  1. But Corporate taxes do not matter they are only going back to the Clinton years, it is patriotic to pay taxes in the USA, we have to tax profits generated internationally.
    HA…HA HA….HA HA HA
I personally welcome Tim Horton’s USA operations to Canada. This is a lesson for all Multi-National Companies that incorporation in the USA is no longer a good thing for doing business there.
Here is something to watch. I have been following this for awhile. Exxon Mobile has been on a rather agressive stock buy-back over the last two years and are now in position to spin off their USA operations into a seperate entity, without a big proxy war, and then place the head office of the multi-national corporation overseas to avoid Obama’s tax changes that they have been seeing coming since 2007. They make most of their revenue outside the USA.
Makes perfect business sense to me.

  2. For decades the narrative was always Canada as the high tax, socialistic, nanny state backwater and the U.S. as the low tax, business friendly powerhouse.

  3. There has to be substantial repercussions tied to Teleprompter Jesus’s actions before the larger population will understand what is at risk. I hope a couple of other large commercial entities relocate quickly. I’m about as jingoistic a patriot as one can be, but the good of the country must be protected. That good is of no interest to liberals.

Yeah, well Obama’s idea of “equality” and “change” is making sure we Americans are all equal in our poverty and have only change in our pockets.

  5. Exxon Mobile? oh their into cellular now too? 😉
I can’t imagine the new world headquarters of Exxon Mobil here in Cow Town.
that bit about hope and change just doesn’t stop! I never thought I’d say it, but thanks B.Hussien …

  7. Thank goodness, we have a government that is capable of taking advantage of this heretofore impossible economic event. Imagine if all the big, “formerly”, US companies moved their headquarters north of the border.
Hoping that this is the beginning of tidal wave of economic prosperity for Canada and the movement of right leaning people from the US to Canada.

  8. I read somewhere that Steve Balmer, CEO of Microsoft, thought that the Obama deficit would result in higher tax rates personally and corporately. This combined with the inflationary effect of the deficit would influence knowledge based companies to examine other tax friendlier environments. He specifically mentioned Vancouver as a place where these companies might relocate.

  9. After Conrad Black was jailed, I don’t know why in hell anyone would subject themselves to the abuses of law by the US government.
I wouldn’t invest in a lemonaide stand in the US. You couldn’t trust the next democratic wanker prosecutor not to throw you in jail for otherwise legal practices. Especially when the actions were done in Canada.

  10. marc -good catch on the Mobile 🙂
I missing that one completely. Still despite my pitiful attempts at ‘spellering’ the point was taken and since that was the goal…
Ok I am trying to save face, I admit it.

You beat me to it. I was thinking the same thing in regards to corporations moving operations to Canada.
I deal with oil companies in the Plentywood, MT area and although they are still very busy, I think a few are “nervous in the service” so to speak regarding the direction TOTUS is taking them.
