There should be little surprise that socialists tend to be anti-semites. Socialism is the politics of resentment. Socialists suffer from “fixed pie” mentality. That’s why, for example, groups like the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives site the growing gap between rich and poor as a dire concern. They hate the fact that the rich are getting richer, but pay no attention to the fact that the poor are also getting richer. Saddled with this simple-minded mentality, is it any wonder that socialists hate Jews, who tend to be financially successful?

Uh, littlebones, that’s a stereotype. Just because you’re Jewish, doesn’t mean you “tend to be financially successful”.

Pete, I would think it fair to say that the prevailing stereotype of Jews throughout the centuries has been one of a “fiscally-enthusiastic” and “fiscally-self-interested” people. In this regard, Littlebones observation would be valid.

Obama is pals with Chavez. Obama has tried to be pals with AquaVelvaJad in Iran, but that’s on hold until the slaughtering is over .. after that the weenie roast and maybe some ice cream.
Those two leaders (among others) hate Jews. They are the enemies of Israel. If follows that Obama must also hate the Jews. You are judged by the company you keep and so far, the list of friends in Obama’s world looks worse than the gang that surrounded Hitler back in the thirties.
I guess the American people, including a lot of Liberal Jews aren’t going to notice what that bastard is up to until the pot is boiling over.
Jews may be the smartest people on this planet, but so many of them are very naive. Anymore, Americans appear to be some of the dumbest people on the planet with that evil idiot they put in the white house, so no sympathy there.

I believe Littlebones is merely articulating the shop-worn politics of envy where Jews are accused, regardless of any supporting evidence, of controlling all the financial levers.

No, I’m sorry, but you’re stereotyping. In medieval times, in many countries in Europe, jews were forbidden from owning properties and businesses. Christians were forbidden from lending money. So the Jewish populations of many countries became the bankers by default. But to state that Jews tend to be financially successful is a complete stereotype. I know plenty of Jewish people due to my employment, and there are just as many losers among the Jewish community as there are among the non-Jewish people. One difference I do notice, however, is that they tend to help each other out more than the average person helps out their neighbours.

Pete and Bob, you are certainly correct that to call Jews financially successful is a stereotype. However, it is a prevailing stereotype. I should have said that there is a prevailing stereotype that Jews are financially successful, rather than saying they tend to be financially successful. Whether or not the stereotype is vaild, it is nontheless a prevailing stereotype, and it is the stereotype that gives rise to resentment among socialists (in my view). Pete: I’m not Jewish. Bob: sorry to hear about your financial woes.
