Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Great, she left her railcar in the middle of Saskatchewan as well.
What a scatterbrain that Ms McDonnel is.
I guess Lorne or somebody had some friends in the painting business?
A million bucks to paint graphics on -private- rail cars. Because, like, nobody could predict the graphics would be vandalized pretty much as the cars left the paint shop, right?
And dippers wonder why nobody likes them.
All around the Saska bush
The Dipper spent the Dollars.
The Dipper thought ’twas all good fun.
Then Flop! goes the Dipper.
A million for a spool of thread,
A million for a needle.
That’s the way the money goes.
Flop! goes the Dipper.
It’s about time we had a spray bomb registry.
Syncro
That’s not the work of a spraybomb. Vandals didn’t need spraybombs, they just reposition parts of the self adhisive vinyl film letters.
wtf? looks like they used 3mil vinyl film for the graphics, not 2mil cast?!?
Wish I had the chance to quote on that job.
That’s about $200 in vinyl film per car and maybe 2 hours at the most labor for the graphics.
$10K per is extremely expensive for a railcar paint job. Suspect the decals brought the cost up significantly AND GE is making a tidy profit which they dearly need. For $10K US, one should be able to get paint as well as a robust mechanical upgrade. There is a project under way as I type that involves painting, in and out, refreshing the mechanicals and installing cushioned underframes [a very big deal] to a series of boxcars we’re using that are as old or older as these covered hoppers.
And as we all know, fresh paint = fresh canvas for the unwashed masses living on the fringes of metropolitan areas anywhere in the world.
“Suspect the decals brought the cost up significantly”
It shouldn’t have. I’m in the business and those can easily be done for well under $1000/car while still making a very nice profit.
Reminds me of the old shithouse graffiti. For a good time–call Jasmime at 306-642-6969
