The shutdown by Chrysler and General Motors of roughly 10% of the surviving auto dealers in the United States could cost newspapers and local broadcasters millions in annual revenues they can ill afford to lose.

    Or, they could just nationalize the pro-Obama papers. What, that’s most of them? Well, have a contest then! Most fulsome praise wins.
    Meanwhile, sales of ammunition and quicklime remain brisk in all 50 states.
    Wanna fight back? Cancel your cable TV, don’t buy the paper, rip your CDs and listen to them on random play instead of radio, and wait for movies to come out on DVD.

    On the flip side, I feel bad for private business owners who have had their businesses literally confiscated.

    Of course they might not like it when he puts some old pal from Chicago in charge,tells them what kind of stories to write and that to “cut costs” they must get rid of some of their reporters (well only the ones who didn’t support the Messiah during his run for office so no big loss)
    That’s exactly what he has done to the auto industry and they seem fine with that.

  20. Unfortunately, the majority of the businesses being closed are those which belonged to Republican supporters. I know most conservatives tend to be optimists and willing to work very hard for their blessings–but when it is stolen from you by your own gov’t…I hope these good folks can bounce back.

    I do hope that after the news print medium is gone, we will still be able to buy blank newsprint paper as they are very good for cleaning windows, lining birdcages and for lighting the kindling in my fireplace.

    The vast majority of people indulge in schadenfreude when it’s at the expense of some jerk-off person or sector that richly deserves their misfortune.
    I am not aware that Kate or anyone else ever tried to hide the joy we feel when our political and social enemies take a hit. Only Leftists pretend to ‘feel’ bad when someone has fallen into a hole they dug for themselves.
    My guess is that right now you ‘feel’ badly that such misfortune is occurring because of the Obama regime stupidity and lack of awareness of cause and effect. But then, thinking things through to a logical conclusion is a missing ability in the leftist mind.

    Imagine the pure sweetness of the DemocRat’s scam with only killing off Republican owned car dealerships getting busted by -bloggers-. Pajama wearing dorks in Mum’s basement blew up a scheme that cost the Dems billions to start, and those dorks did it for FREE! For NOTHING, as a public service!
    The awesomeness is pretty awesome, eh? Kate’s observation is icing on the awesomeness cake, as Barry shoots his very own useful MSM idiots in the foot by accident, because he is -stupid-.

  46. I really never understood what a CEO was supposed to do until I saw Gen Hillier. Gen Hillier essentially determined where the Canadian Forces should be, what it should be doing and then he oriented the whole CF into achieving that view and meet those requirement. I don’t think any of the CEOs of GM or Chrysler (since 1980) ever decided where they want to take their company or how it would achieve its goals. Too bad for N. American manufacturing.
    However, I also remember one of the guys in my band (who worked for Chrysler in Windsor, ON) told me about guys on his shift who would punch-in, wait for the supervisor to do his/her walk-around and then disappear for the rest of the shift–that’s why Chrysler/Dodge had such crap vehicles that didn’t start in the rain.

    Too right; that’s why the US Founding Fathers showed extreme wisdom in making their country a republic, with a supreme Constitution taking precedence over everything. They knew that once a majority of voters in a democracy realize they can simply vote themselves loot from the public till, there’s no stopping the inevitable decline. For an enlightening – if not light, however – read, check out the Federalist Papers. Those cats were brilliant in recognizing the temptations of power, and how to make the country stronger by deferring more power downwards to the people through the state, rather than top-loading the feds with everything. Unlike Canada, where the reverse is true. On another note, I’m not sure how obama managed to take the oath of office, as it requires him to swear to protect and US Constitution, and his goal is to remake it in his own image. Perhaps his fingers were crossed.
    Phantom – yeah, you’ve a point. And thankfully, the blogosphere is here to ferret out the truth the MSM chooses to purposefully ignore (small wonder they are “not waiting for the asteroid”). However, incalculable damage may be wrought from the head narcissist and his sycophants in the next 4 years, and it may take at least a generation to undo – if it can be undone. Maobama is hustling through radical changes to the US national security and economy that would have mortified the Founding Fathers, and he’s doing it while he’s coasting on his image. But when that fades, and he’s out on his @ss, the changes will take much longer to undo.
    Many people – especially snot-nosed europeans and wannabe canuck academics – don’t want to admit this, but the world needs an economically and militarily strong US.
