Uh, oh…. new reports of collateral damage…
The shutdown by Chrysler and General Motors of roughly 10% of the surviving auto dealers in the United States could cost newspapers and local broadcasters millions in annual revenues they can ill afford to lose.
Hey, they voted for him.

It’s about time Kate started using links to past sda posts . Very effective.
D’oh! Oh well, just shovel another billion or two into the Stimulus For Our Buddies pot, it’ll be ok.
Or, they could just nationalize the pro-Obama papers. What, that’s most of them? Well, have a contest then! Most fulsome praise wins.
Meanwhile, sales of ammunition and quicklime remain brisk in all 50 states.
Wanna fight back? Cancel your cable TV, don’t buy the paper, rip your CDs and listen to them on random play instead of radio, and wait for movies to come out on DVD.
Except Star Trek. That one is worth seeing at the flicks. ~:D
It’s amazing how well they thought this through, is this the defintion of irony? Shutting down dealerships and incidentally losing your media outlets for propaganda?
On the flip side, I feel bad for private business owners who have had their businesses literally confiscated.
I wonder how long it will take OPC (the Obama Press Corpse) to go with cap in hand and ask for some of that ever popular bailout money.
Of course they might not like it when he puts some old pal from Chicago in charge, tells them what kind of stories to write and that to “cut costs” they must get rid of some of their reporters (well only the ones who didn’t support the Messiah during his run for office so no big loss)
That’s exactly what he has done to the auto industry and they seem fine with that.
“Hey! we’re creating the country we want you to live in.”
I hadn’t thought about this before, Kate, but yes indeed, all newspapers are jampacked with car ads.
The Law of Unintended Consequences at Work!
Who for one minute ever thought that political rewards would not be a part of any Government nationalization?
You get what you elect.
Weren’t they going to declare their newspaper buddies non-profit organizations in Step 1. Step 2 will be brown paper bags filled with the tax-payers’ $100 bills, handed straight from the Brown Shirts to the Lap Dog Media.
You just know GM and Chrysler corporate decisions are either made directly from the newly created state automotive ministry or influenced by it. Obama’s 1984 rolls forward. A glimpse at things to come>

According to Drudge, all the canceled Chrysler dealers but one were RNC contributors. O’bomb-a sure knows enough not to gore anyone on his side – good politics.
Discriminating against the RNC contributors?
How…Obamallama chique.

It appears Obama is making his own “no win situation”.

Bingo! America has gotten exactly what they asked for.
I got it, lets turn all the defunct dealerships into koolaid stands.

Who is gunna wanna buy a car from a company that is managed by Pelosi and politicized by the DNC?
(Not Me)
robin111 – the top sales item would have to be LEMON flavoured.
oh heck, we’re ALL to blame.
for buying all that crud from the Big 3 that rusted to unuseability before the last car payment, that has killed 100s of thousands with crapola for safety features including things like steering wheels positioned and designed just right to ram thru the driver’s chest in a collision.
and still the right wing pillories Ralph Nader as a ‘pinko leftoid’.
if GM et al had not deep 6ed the electric car, maybe by now sales of the ever improving technology vehicle would have put them in the black.
I’m certainly not going to miss the propaganda from CAW and their hordes of 40 dollar an hour high school dropouts.
and still the right wing pillories Ralph Nader as a ‘pinko leftoid’.
You mean the Ralph Nader that Michael Moore supported who siphoned off so many votes from the extremist Left of the Democrat Party that Al Gore lost the election to “W”?
That Ralph Nader?
You know Michael Moore, yes?
He did that crockumentary called “Roger & Me”.
“Roger & Me was about Moore stalking Roger Smith the CEO of GM who closed the Union Auto plants in Flint Michigan and moved them to Mexico because GM would have gone bankrupt back in the late ’80s if he didn’t.
It seems to me Michael Moore owes Roger Smith a big apology. I’d also say Mike al-Moor was a pinko and he supported a pinkp in that election.
Thank God for the government funded CBC!
If not for them I wouldn’t know which imaginary comic book character was marrying which imaginary comic book character!
When exactly did reporting on the love lives of comic book characters become one of the core duties of government?
And if I did care about which imaginary character was marrying which imaginary character, couldn’t I just buy the damn thing and read it myself?
Next time the CBC whines about their funding, maybe it would be a good idea to bring this story up:

Unfortunately, the majority of the businesses being closed are those which belonged to Republican supporters. I know most conservatives tend to be optimists and willing to work very hard for their blessings–but when it is stolen from you by your own gov’t…I hope these good folks can bounce back.
~~favill~~
My,my….you elect a commie crook, and then wonder why commie business type closures etc come about?Like they say,you get get what you deserve….and sympathy is in the dictionary, right between s*&t and syphillis.
Lets see how many GOP supporters, or anyone, actually buys a car from a left wing government owned enterprise.
I’d rather own a Bricklin.
Oh, the tears I weep! And by tears, I mean laughter and by weep, I mean laugh.
I guess I’m not as torn up by this as I led you to believe.
Yo Kate,
Maybe you should remane SDA to Schadenfreude. You seem to have a preoccupation with Germanic things that start with ‘sch’.
Getting pleasure from the pain of others is a character flaw. Thanks for peeling back the layers of your onion. I now know my past criticisms of you are right on the money.
Perhaps the Obama regime will bail out the slobberers in the MSM dead tree industry by buying up all ad space for ‘government messages’ with …. tax-payers former money.
I do hope that after the news print medium is gone, we will still be able to buy blank newsprint paper as they are very good for cleaning windows, lining birdcages and for lighting the kindling in my fireplace.
Not Stirred Enough, do be quiet.
Not stirred,
The vast majority of people indulge in schadenfreude when it’s at the expense of some jerk-off person or sector that richly deserves their misfortune.
I am not aware that Kate or anyone else ever tried to hide the joy we feel when our political and social enemies take a hit. Only Leftists pretend to ‘feel’ bad when someone has fallen into a hole they dug for themselves.
My guess is that right now you ‘feel’ badly that such misfortune is occurring because of the Obama regime stupidity and lack of awareness of cause and effect. But then, thinking things through to a logical conclusion is a missing ability in the leftist mind.
Excuse me while I enjoy your pain.
Momar,
You guess wrong.
not schtirred enough: Why don’t you go schtupp yourself?
Mamba,
Is that always your reaction when you discover your own flaws?
It’s called “karma”.
Hurt Republican car dealers who don’t support you, and, in turn, you end up hurting media outlets who do.
What goes around, comes around and bites your liberal ass.
Not stirred If people did not laugh at misfortune there would be no Laurel and Hardy, no Three Stooges and no Liberal Party. It is human nature. Oh yeah humour is bad…what about Dion? There must be SOME reason he was born. He must have some purpose if life other than amusing me. Let me know what it is.
not schtirred enough: Ach der lieber! You’re givin’ me a schmerzkopf. Schweinhund.
Yes, I’m incapable of self-examination. I take my self-loathing out on trolls.
Was fur ein Scmuck.
Ach der lieber! Schmuck.
Press cattle cars to oblivion, while cheering the butcher. The MSM reminds me of that bit of pork that liked to talk about which portion was the best to eat of itself. “Cafe at the end of the Universe”
The MSM are cannibalizing themselves while dying in a socialist delirium. Brought on by hubris, with a lack of any intelligence or ethics.
The best line I saw today.
” Drive your Chevrolet on a bale of hay ”
I need to clean my key board,ROTFLMAO!!!
I call Godwin’s Law on Not Stirred Enough.
not stirred enough said, said : “Getting pleasure from the pain of others is a character flaw.”
Yeah. So is -illegally- destroying the life’s work of your political opponents to give your party buddies less competition in the car business. The cherry on top is screwing up and accidentally killing off the advertising business of your most ardent supporters, because you are an innumerate moron whose sole talent is reading a teleprompter.
Tell me, not smart enough, which do you think is worse? Schadenfreude or the worst political corruption since the Robber Barons?
I do not feel mere pleasure at the pain of Obama and his minions while they stumble about and step on each other’s toes. Sheer glee would be more like it. I thrill at each mis-step, each failure is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, each new whiff of scandal the most sublime perfume.
May they all come to wrack and ruination, and swiftly. And may you, my poor disinformed useful idiot troll, find a bridge to rot under.
Phantom … you are forthwith cordially invited to the the Brotherhood Of the Billygoats Gruff … 🙂
An remember one and all : The members of the mainstream media are, as a group, the stupidest people on the planet.
I thank the honorable OMMAG for the kind invitation. Pardon me as I chalk my horns for the next sally. ~:D
In that vein, I pose the following question: Who is the greater fool? The fool journalist who can’t tell sh1t from shinola and proudly proves it in black and white every day, or the fool who pays money to read it?
Or is it the fools who think they are fooling us with this foolishness?

True enough, but I, for one, feel quite badly for the 58 million or so Americans who had the brains not to vote hard-left socialist in the last election. They are on the chopping block, too.

Ah! Democracy….
Where the winners get to eat the losers.
Barry is throwing the media under the bus, ’cause he isn’t going to need them any more. He thinks he’s in for life, watch for Kristine Marcy being the actual SCOTUS nominee.
A little crisis here, a few Korean nukes there, and Israel a glass parking lot for camels, and Barry will suspend the Constitution ‘for the children’ and the Military will start confiscating the 3.5 million guns floating around in private hands.
About then, the 2nd amendment kicks in, and POOF! PFM, things get straightened out.
Ian
Feeling bad saps one’s will to fight, mhb. I prefer to savor the small victories as they come along.
Imagine the pure sweetness of the DemocRat’s scam with only killing off Republican owned car dealerships getting busted by -bloggers-. Pajama wearing dorks in Mum’s basement blew up a scheme that cost the Dems billions to start, and those dorks did it for FREE! For NOTHING, as a public service!
The awesomeness is pretty awesome, eh? Kate’s observation is icing on the awesomeness cake, as Barry shoots his very own useful MSM idiots in the foot by accident, because he is -stupid-.
SuuuWEET!
A few more like that and all the goofs who got sucked in by the TOTUS magic show are going to wake up and demand a refund. That’s where the sweetness becomes transcendent, and we get to watch Barry and company do the perp walk.
Or possibly they get to do a Mussolini impression, I guess it depends on how long it takes the goofs to all wake up. I’d prefer -before- the Alaskan re-education camps get full myself. Still, Barry kind of acts like Mussolini on stage, and his economic platform is pure Mussolini, so we’ll see I guess.
furthermore, if the mainstreet printed press is doomed anyway (see Kate’s gloating ad nauseum plus the dead dinosaur. what is it with that chick and deceased critters ???), the fact they are caught in the crossfire is moot.
next !!!
Joe, Do you even know what Goodwin’s Law is?
Mamba, Your Gernman needs a little work; your attempt at humour needs alot of work.
I really never understood what a CEO was supposed to do until I saw Gen Hillier. Gen Hillier essentially determined where the Canadian Forces should be, what it should be doing and then he oriented the whole CF into achieving that view and meet those requirement. I don’t think any of the CEOs of GM or Chrysler (since 1980) ever decided where they want to take their company or how it would achieve its goals. Too bad for N. American manufacturing.
However, I also remember one of the guys in my band (who worked for Chrysler in Windsor, ON) told me about guys on his shift who would punch-in, wait for the supervisor to do his/her walk-around and then disappear for the rest of the shift–that’s why Chrysler/Dodge had such crap vehicles that didn’t start in the rain.
~~favill~~
Yes stirred I do know what Godwin’s Law is and my calling you on it is the result of your put downs of the use of German words by those you assume have Nazi tendencies. Now please go join the Katman and find some swastika on boys locker room walls. Oh an please no cameras there are laws against kiddie porn.
not stirred enough said, do you even know what a bridge is?
Ah! Democracy…. Where the winners get to eat the losers.
Too right; that’s why the US Founding Fathers showed extreme wisdom in making their country a republic, with a supreme Constitution taking precedence over everything. They knew that once a majority of voters in a democracy realize they can simply vote themselves loot from the public till, there’s no stopping the inevitable decline. For an enlightening – if not light, however – read, check out the Federalist Papers. Those cats were brilliant in recognizing the temptations of power, and how to make the country stronger by deferring more power downwards to the people through the state, rather than top-loading the feds with everything. Unlike Canada, where the reverse is true. On another note, I’m not sure how obama managed to take the oath of office, as it requires him to swear to protect and US Constitution, and his goal is to remake it in his own image. Perhaps his fingers were crossed.
Phantom – yeah, you’ve a point. And thankfully, the blogosphere is here to ferret out the truth the MSM chooses to purposefully ignore (small wonder they are “not waiting for the asteroid”). However, incalculable damage may be wrought from the head narcissist and his sycophants in the next 4 years, and it may take at least a generation to undo – if it can be undone. Maobama is hustling through radical changes to the US national security and economy that would have mortified the Founding Fathers, and he’s doing it while he’s coasting on his image. But when that fades, and he’s out on his @ss, the changes will take much longer to undo.
Many people – especially snot-nosed europeans and wannabe canuck academics – don’t want to admit this, but the world needs an economically and militarily strong US.

Yeah, my Gernman sucks.
