Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

ya know i don’t like the gg’s liberal politics but i think she did good with the raw heart thing.
hey don’t forget “prairie oysters”!
I for one look forward to my next trip to Spain where I can celebrate Europe’s superior treatment of animals by watching a bull fight.
You are who you eat.
I think this was one of the funniest articles I have ever seen that points out the absolute stupidity of the EU and the PETA twits.
My gawd I laughed.
“Waiter! There are snails in my escargots!”
Because a typical snail diet includes decayed matter, carrion, and a wide variety of leaves, the contents of their stomachs can sometimes be toxic to humans. Therefore, before they are cooked, the snails are first prepared by purging them of the questionable contents of their digestive system. The process used to accomplish this varies, but generally involves a combination of fasting and purging.
OKaaay. Sounds pretty cruel to me.
They eat horses, don’t they?
http://www.emb-norway.ca/policy/environment/marine/sealing.htm
Norwegian sealing
“Sealing is one of the traditional means of livelihood for people in the countries around the Arctic Ocean and the North Atlantic. The Norwegian seal hunt is based mainly on harp seals and hooded seals. Stocks of both species are growing, and neither species is threatened.
Norwegian sealing takes place in the Barents Sea outside the mouth of the White Sea, in Russia’s economic zone (the East Ice), and off Greenland (the West Ice). The Norwegian quotas are set on the basis of scientific recommendations from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) and the Institute of Marine Research in Norway. These recommendations are used as a basis for drawing up a multi-species management regime, which takes into account, for example, how harvesting seals will affect other species. In 2004, Norway’s overall quota is 30 600 adult seals, 10 000 in the East Ice and 20 600 in the West Ice. Russia is responsible for managing the harp seal stock in the East Ice, while the stocks in the West Ice come under the fisheries jurisdiction of several countries and live partly in international waters.
Norwegian sealing is sound resource management
In all, there are about eight million harp and hooded seals in the North Atlantic, and almost three million in the areas where Norwegian sealing takes place. Stocks of both species are growing.”
I don’t think the Norwegians will be joining the EU as a full member soon.
Norwegians are bloodthirsty seal eating savages!! sarc/

I laughed at first, then I just felt guilty for looking the other way while millions of these beautiful creatures are murdered each year in vane.
I am considering parking my vehicles permanently too. I just can’t stand seeing the waste of life smeared all over the front of my truck just so I can make some $$$.
Question: Does anyone know what determines which species of animals or insects deserves our complete and utter ignorance?
Question: Does anyone know what determines which species of animals or insects deserves our complete and utter ignorance?
The criteria would be overall cuteness + photogenics.
That’s easy Joel – pretty wins, ugly gets the hakkapik!!
Seals eat fish – devouring our food stocks.. but they are cute.. so they live.
But Wolves are solitary and not so friendly to humans.. so they die.
See how it works? Vote for Change!!
Ah, that’s nothin’! How’s this: lol!
Poor defenceless Mother Sturgeon, already hunted to near extinction by bloodthirsty Russians with metal hooks which thrust through the delicate skin of the Mother’s neck.
Just as the shock of this barbaric mutilation sets in and the pain of this impalement is mercifully lessened, the poor defenceless and innocent Sturgeon is ripped from her environment to suffer the excruciating paid of suffocation. Slow. Brutal. Painful.
Then, once these insidious Russians arrive at their citadel of death, the worst horror of all!
The bodily remains of this poor mother are violated. These savages rip and tear at this victim’s womb and scrape out the dying remains of her young which are then mixed in a vat with salt to be sold to rich, uncaring European Union bureaucrats with their taxpayer padded expense accounts. These uncaring brutes then crush the young between their teeth until they pop while enjoying themselves and laughing at the plight of the workers who are pillaged to fund this horror show genocide.
Oh, the humanity!
When I recently, briefly, lived in Australia, there was a hedge just outside my place that was a nexus for snails. Crunch crunch crunch as I walked home every day. At first I felt bad. Then I stopped caring. I never ate snail, though.
I did try crocodile, once. Tasted like very bland chicken.
If only snails had big puppy dog, er, baby seal eyes.
Round my house I use a hockey stick to shoot snails into the next time zone.
Seriously Jason;
The ecosystem of the world is outta whack from what it was 400 years ago.
Us humans have done too well, with no appreciable competition. So far as the furry little ruggers, we NEED to kill them regularly, since we have gotten rid of anything that might control them.
Have you ever seen a deer starve to death? It is a pretty terrible thing. When humans ( those most nasty of brutes) don’t have a controlled hunt to cull the deer population.. for even 3 or 4 years, the deer population explodes.. and soon there is nothing left but starving deer ( farm crops are long gone).
So a regular hunt of all of God’s little fur balls is actually helping the planet. Just close your eyes and caress the trigger Jason, a good God know’s you’ve done right.
I can’t wait for the article on Frogs’ legs, no pun intended…..
Eeeeewwwww!
Willing to pick the lesser of two evils and offend the aborginal people as opposed to animal rights groups, the Euro-twits have shown once again how THEY don’t understand North Americans, however harshly they may judge them.
This is why we should learn other languages so we can tell THEM to stick it.

If you saw the original NP story, you’d know it was mocking the Europeans for their hypocrisy.
I figure if you’re gonna do something, go all out.
This was tongue-in-cheek. I just went one step further.
When will the frog and snail holocaust end!
Terrified European snail flees heartless German snail-killers
My God, I’m mortified!
Osumashi Kinyobe: I speak English, and try reasoning with them.
Obviously in order to stop this senseless slaughter of the snail, some rebranding of the species is in order.
Lets start calling them “shell kittens” and set up a website with lots of fun games for kids to play, and then expose them to the horrible truth of what these Europeans are doing.
Black Mamba: “I did try crocodile, once. Tasted like very bland chicken.”
Crikey mate, the best part is trying to catch your dinner before he invites you to his dinner.
btw, ‘roo tastes good as long as you don’t overcook it. Wash down with 4X.
Here on the east coast, we’ve started getting those freaky huge stripey snails from BC. Now I kill snails – because they eat my climby-plants. I fill a container full of salt and I pop them in, see? But these big snails are another matter. They’re four inches of rubbery muscle (laugh all you want). I salt them. It HURTS them. It doesn’t kill them. So I bash them to death with a rock.
Before they understand what’s going on – that this is IT for them, because how COULD they know, really? – their heads – those little horns – stretch outward, upwards, as if craving a glimmer of sunlight, a kiss of life-giving warmth…
It’s awful.
Just awful.
Dem Harry Reid said. “But the best part of Barack Obama is his heart is bigger than any heart in the world.”

And just where is our GG when you need her?
Texas Canuck: Never did try ‘roo, but I undertand it’s tangy. They’re pests; they move in swarms. In the interior the Aboriginals who have trucks keep the ones they hit – stap them to the top – and eat them when they get home, unless the guts have burst, at which point they’re no good.
They’re also farmed.
Crocodiles are just plain evil. And tasteless.
A German friend tells me that horse is eaten raw in Europe. I can’t think of anything more beautiful than a majestic Clydesdale or Quarter Horse. Big brown eyes and long face.
But out here in the Left Coast, the Europeans are well outdone. We go bonkers over shooting them big black or brown furred varmints. We let them wander through our neighborhoods and attack and maim innocent gardeners. One elderly woman will have to have extensive surgery to restore use of her arm the noble creature decided to dine on while she kicked and screamed. Oh; that’s just their natural feeding habit and after all it’s their land, isn’t it?
Our “professional” journalists exhibit their moral consistency time after time. Newspaper pulpits and chastising talking heads, know better than you and I. And they are vegans who only ever cycle to work, each and every one. Correct?
…contents of their digestive system. The process used to accomplish this varies, but generally involves a combination of fasting and purging.
Conjures up images of tiny little enema tubes.

Well yeah . People!!! Haven’t you ever heard these nuts decry the very existence of mankind?
I usually answer , will start at your family first. I bet you two Iggy’s to five Dions every time a plague or Earthquake happens the Earth firsters are rejoicing.
So your correct. Man is the creature that in these air heads minds should be disdained. That & possibly Pigs in homage to Islam.
Good Question.
Crocodiles are just plain evil. And tasteless. ~ Black Mamba
This sounds like a line from Aesop’s ‘The Snake and the Crocodile’.
Croc meat is not tasteless it, of course, tastes like chicken. Just like Black Mamba, I surmise.
Who cares what Old Europe says anyway! It’s barely a continent anymore it will soon be annexed to the East Asian and Middle east countries where Islam rules-Eurabia.
When Russia turns off the natural gas and they discover the effectiveness of their windmills, and the social systems collapse due to too many claimants, and their industrial complexes collapse because the few workers left are taxed beyond any reason then the experiments with socialism will be complete.
Too bad so many Canadian and US military rushed to save Europe in WW2, their sacrifice now seem to be have been pointless. Europe does not possess the will to survive, only a misplaced sense of superiority.
Next time you meet a vegan or PETA type ask them how they feel when they eat the aborted fetus of the bean plant aka sprouts.
glasnost: Nah, comes with a sting.
Wonder how this would taste. Headless and legless I figure you would need a couple of hundred for a snack. Weird though.

So much ado about so little. It’s all about lifestyle, tradition and survival.
The sensibilities of the beef and pork eaters, those who get their meat from the butcher, most of us, all carved, wrapped and ready to cook, perhaps should spend a bit of time at a slaughter house. Maybe the sight of a seal being gutted and parts eaten raw wouldn’t be quite so shocking.
Caviar well done anyone?
pygmy jerboa … best loved in Kazakhstan, where it is featured on postal stamps!
Speedy at 5:31, I hear they’re delicious, particularly with “toasted” postal stamps.

Hurray!!
the CP is selling off AECL!!
The great Liberal/PC political patronage playpen is going to be liquidated. It is hard to describe the courage it took to make this decision. Watch as some of the vested interests begin to scream…
This may be arguably the most important thing the CP has done to date. well over 50 billion has been pissed away on AECL over the years. Finally the bleeding will be stopped.
O/T Hurray!! the CP is selling off AECL!! ~ Gord Tulk
Are North Korea and Pakistan bidding?
How about the poor pickled herring? We need to slam Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway for their slaughter of these poor, defenseless little fishes.
On the other hand, I LOVE pickled herring, especially with mustard and dill.
But, wait! How about the poor dill and mustard plants? Plants scream in pain when they’re picked.
Why don’t we nasty humans just sit back and stop eating altogether? THAT would solve the problem, wouldn’t it — and provide food for all sorts of other parasites?
love it.
thanks Kate!
Darn, batb. Are you saying I should feel guilty after just having eaten my salad,(yeah, the tomatoes screamed, and the cukes,OMG),my shrimp side dish, and then my steak dinner???What would Bambi say?? /sarc off for any leftards hanging out.And yes. That was my supper!!!
Shows you how far the food chain the French are. They eat slimy things that lurk in the shadows, we on the other hand, eat steak.
Things are as they should be ;0)

Whoa! It hasn’t been all bleeding. AECL has sold billions of dollars worth of design and construction services both at home and abroad.
The overseas customers have all expressed satisfaction with CANDU. Almost all of the problems with Ontario instalations can be traced to what used to be known as Ontario Hydro, for insisting on “modifications”. Some of these led directly to premature maintenance problems, and most of them required other modifications, in a cascading effect, to satisfy regulators.
In principle, I’d like to see the corporation privatized but, when it is no ;onger a “crown”, AECL will be vulnerable to regulatory strangulation by inevitable future Liberal governments in response to “stop everything beneficial to mankind” Luddite loonies.
Canada could end up having to write off solid domestic technology and buy excellent but very expensive French reactors instead.
Zog:
Candu is obsolete, failed technology.
AECL has always been a massive white elephant (54billion that we know of- many billions more doled out under the guise of military spending). The only foreign customers that bought it were bankrolled by fed financing.
And under no circumstances should government be involved in tbd commercialization of technology. If you consider yourself a conservative and believer in market economics yourbelief that AECL should be kept is proof that you are not.
‘Sucks, eh, justthinkin?
Sob …
When it’s Europe vs the GG, I don’t really have a dog in the hunt.
Just wait until the moonbats find out how many chickens I personally put in wheelchairs on “Wing Nights”.
Let’s not forget those thousands of pigs they train and coerce into foraging for wild fungus (truffles), a beastly practice that!
in the RhineValley theyre so insidious they pour soil on helpless asparagus stalks depriving it of natural sunlight. And then they eat it!!
Gord Tulk:
“Obsolete, failed technology.” Holy shite, who told you that, or what have you been smoking? Talk to a few engineers before you run off at the mouth with such an assinine statement. BTW, like any superior technology, CANDU isn’t static, it is constantly being tweaked and improved.
What other high falutin’ modurn devices do you object to? Probably the very superior Airbus line of aircraft since it was developed with (horrors!) public money. Or maybe Bombardier’s short haul aircraft built by a pure, uncorrupted private enterprise. Yeh, sure. (sarc off) Or the products of mighty, free enterprising Boeing that’s been on the public teat for so long that it’s lips are glued to it?
If you’d care to read my post, you’d realize that my fear is that a privatized AECL would be vulnerable to a full court press from the enviro – nuts who want to see nuclear technology scrapped in favor of sunbeams, summer breezes and vats of fermenting animal waste of the type that you’re throwing around.
Does CANDU have an inherant flaw? Yes, spent fuel from a CANDU can’t be economically reprocessed under current conditions. But, what the H, Candu fuel is extremely cheap to fabricate compared the stuff used in every other reactor design. Anyway, in our southern neighbour, the rich resource of plutonium and enriched uranium in spent fuel just sits in swimming pools for political rather than economic reasons.
