Talking about Colonialism and Africa: There was an interesting article earlier last week in the National Post talking about the “new colonisation of Africa”. Over 20 countries in Africa are now leasing huge tracts of land to European, Arab, and Asian countries for livestock production, crop production and biofuel production. For example, China is now leasing over 1 million hectares of land in Zimbabwe for biofuel production alone (using some crop that I have never heard of before but grows year round and has high energy yields). Three British companies have leases in all sorts of countries for biofuel production. Arab countries are using land in places like Ethiopia, Kenya, and Mozambuqe for massive livestock and food production. The list goes on. The goal of imperial colonization was to get as much wealth out of the colonized country as possible. I wouldn’t doubt it if that is what is happening now – only with newer players.

Actually GYM my intent is to bring people to a standard higher than their gonads which is the level most modern education is aimed at. Any standard you would set as high must therefor be borrowed from someone else such as a Christian. I can assure you that in Africa, the local leaders can and do blame colonialism for many of the behaviors and beliefts of their people and for the disasterous economic situations of their countries.

Africa has had almost 50 years of independence and instead of moving forward in poverty reduction, social responsibility and economic development the continent has stagnated.
