My main beef with Barbra is her whacky lib-left political views and the fact that she dated Pierre Trudeau. Obviously, no taste, except in music.
vince – relax bud. Babs is an outstanding singing talent – and another would be Celine Dion. What the two have in common is – alot of talent – I mean huge talent but – when it comes to other parts of their lives …..well they just end up pissing people off.
They think their talent allows them the currency to be something they simply are not. Babs’ opinion on anything political is worth about the same as my plumber’s opinion on butt crack. (yours to speculate one)
Celine, like Babs, is an eletist. These people think that their opinions carry alot of weight because they sing a song real well. They leverage off of their celebraty status.
Makes no impression on me but don’t be too hard on those who don’t like Babs because of her politics.
Actually vince I had another look at your post of 8:08pm and you use the term “unsophisticated common losers”. Interesting because that is what Babs and Celine would think of those who don’t agree with their point of view. So……. that would put you in the same camp as them which would make you pretty much an elitist (excuse the spelling).
Barbara S. tends to shout or screech at her audience and this makes my eardrums cringe…Susan Boyle sang a song that Barbara would be inclined to pelt out or draw and quarter but when Susan Boyle sings it, it uplifts the spirits of the audience and carries you to lovely places. This ability is so rare that it makes you want to hear her sing again and again…it does not matter one iota that Susan is not beauty queen material. When a person hears her voice it overwhelms the need to look at the singer and see a performance.
More on Streisand’s first performance in Canada…
