The Witch of the East was actually the good witch in the Wizard of Oz.
East obviously refers to the geographic location of HT’s newspaper, since New York is in the eastern U.S.
O’Reilly made those points clear on his show.

Kate gets $25.00 for humour. Thank you, thank you, thank you vvvvery much.
point blank: “Soccermom, Kate, and the other “faces of the right” will continue to be pretty when they reach the age of 88.”
Sorry, pb, you’ve got it wrong. They will still look pretty at 88: a few wrinkles and some gray hair (unless they’re still colouring it as I am) will be the only difference. Maybe a bit of arthritis, a back with a crink, but a Helen Thomas lookalike? Not in a million years.
Your parents and grandparents are to blame for your facial features. It’s what goes on in the head that’s cursing her.
She was never relevant except to a few, and age and a sagging mind makes her less so now.

Actually, I believe that Glinda was the Good Witch of the South. However, for Bill O’Reilly’s purpose, all we need to know is that he’s talking about a witch who melts when water’s thrown on her.
I thought the comparison of Helen Thomas with this fictional character was most apt.
Of course she’s a with. She turned me into a newt!

Hey, someone called Sarah Palin a witch on SNL?
Missed that!
That’s not all you missed, real.
No…really!
I am waiting for someone to refer to Obama as the “so-called President.”
Add a broom and a black robe and ya get the wicked witch of the east
Kate you’re and ERA advocate aren’t you? Otherwise you’d be in the kitchen and havin lot’s of babies. You don’t practice what you preach. You know that right wing rhetoric is BS don’t you? How can you leave the nest to blog? You’re a phoney right winger.
