  1. I have to agree with the black rod, after the shooting happened you damn well knew what was going to happen.
The chiefs opened their mouths, and looked like idiots.
    Screamed racism.
Was this not the situation where the police officer shooting the native, was in fact native? Or was it a previous one.

  2. Doesn’t matter allen. If the cop was white,it’s racist. If he was a native constable,he had been brainwashed and his hiertage taken away by the “evil whiteman.Still racism.Glad to see a judge with some brains for a change.

  3. A little whine with your cheese, Chief Spreading Bull?
“Glad to see a judge with some brains for a change.” Let’s take a wild guess under which Party this Judge was appointed…

  4. The solution is so simple no one will ever do it.
Every status Indian gets a cheque for a million dollars. They only receive the cheque after signing an ironclad contract that they rescind all treaty rights, will never sue the government about real or imaginary “abuse” or “territory” or anything ever again, and will move off the rez and get real jobs and lives.
The end. finished. done. no more special treatment. If they waste all the money on crap, tough toenails.

  5. Hey, Kathy, do the math. That’s about $500 billion. At the current rate of piss-away it would take almost 50 years to burn through that. Who knows what will happen in that much time.

  6. Black Rod plays a mean game of media snooker.
Cleans the table pretty much every time he’s up and leaves the likes of the Freep and CP in hole EVERY time.

  7. Actually Zog, that would be a heck of a stimulus package for the economy. Big Three? Saved. Bombardier? Saved. Forestry? They’d have to re-open all the friggin’ mills in Canada to keep up with demand.
Only problem is that Saskatchewan is booming already – there aren’t enough workers to fill the jobs that are there, never mind the new jobs cropping up.

  8. “”””Big Three? Saved. Bombardier? Saved. Forestry? They’d have to re-open all the friggin’ mills in Canada to keep up with demand.”””
american standard wouldn’t be able to keep up to the demand for urinals!!!!

  9. Kathy: That’s the solution for the economic stimulus the gummint’s supposed to provide. Screw the corporate bailouts, just give every Canadian a million bucks. We’ll stimulate the economy. Of course, the CAW and their friends won’t like where we spend our money, but hey… That’s democracy.

  10. This is from StatsCan’s report on the 2001 Census:
For the purposes of this report, the analysis will concentrate on people who have identified themselves as a member of one or more of these Aboriginal groups.
In 2001, a total of 976,305 persons identified themselves with one (or more) of these groups. This count was 22.2% higher than the 1996 figure of 799,010. In contrast, the non-Aboriginal population grew only 3.4% between 1996 and 2001.

About half the increase in the Aboriginal population can be attributed to demographic factors, such as their high birth rate. Increased awareness of one’s Aboriginal roots likely accounted for another half, as more people identified themselves as Aboriginal.
Couldn’t be that many people decided that there were benefits – i.e. cash – to claiming Aboriginal status, could it?
