Tony Blair’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch, and when the Opposition is outlawed, only outlaws will oppose;

Damian Green, a conservative MP and Shadow Minister for Immigration, who was seized by anti-terrorist personnel from the Metropolitan police, held for questioning for 9 hours, and whose private papers and computer files in his home and office in the House of Commons were confiscated. The Honorable Member’s offense? Embarrassing Gordon Brown’s government. How did he do this? By revealing in debate on the floor of the House of Commons and in various lapses, failures, and dirty-little-secrets about the government’s immigration policy…

  1. The BBC story says that Green was not charged with anything, but was ‘released on bail’. What? Why is there a requirement for bail if no charges were laid? Something smells to high heaven here.

  2. This takes the descent of the once proud British to frightening new lows. Since many of these failings eventually cross the Atlantic, we should be very afraid.

  3. This is just the beginning folks. The socialists will do anything to stay in power. Canada is next – with an unelected socialist government about to take control of Canada. These guys are going to end first past the post – it will be the first bill – mark my words.

  5. didn’t we have Kretien play this sort of game with the banker who wouldn’t play by the “little guy’s” rules????
    and were are the charges for this criminal act commited by KKKretien

  6. itlog98 the police will need to build a case. It is unlikely they have all the “evidence” yet and there are even in Britain limits on how long suspects can be held without charge. Habeus Corpus anyone?
    However this is a deeply sinister episode and one that I would have never have thought would occur in my lifetime. The country of my birth is now on a par with shitholes like Zimbabwe and the former East Germany. The story essentially is that an opposition MP was receiving confidential memos about government incompetence. Whilst I am not condoning the action and I do not believe MP’s are above the law, the whole incident stinks. The “leaker” if guilty could have been dealt with in house and if found guilty should have been sacked. There was no need to call in Special Branch and the fact that it involved I believe 22 policemen shows that Britain is well on the way to becoming a police state. This truly scares me. In the UK we joke about Labour and refer to them as ZaNuLabour now you know why.

  7. LT, what I was questioning was why Green had to post bail if he was not charged with anything. Does the justice system work differently in the UK? Sure, the police will continue to investigate and collect evidence, and maybe at some point they may have built a case to arrest Green, but this has not so far happened. Why was he required to post bail?

  8. Obama in the US. The three Piggish Politico’s here. Now in England they have abandoned Ministerial privilege it seems. All Socialist , all for “change” Anyone here see a pattern or are these all coincidences. While this goes on India is attacked. Another democratic Anglo-inheritance free State?
    Look at the fact Islamic threads run all through this. Not in Canada you say. Think About the socialist Muslim pact with the MSM & Liberals. We know that’s a reality from the CHRC’s. The lack of information or even acknowledgment of the beats that did the killing. I am beginning to think this whole entire Junta is part of a bigger plan.
    None dare call it Treason

  9. itlog98 I think in this case it will be police bail. They use this when they want someone to reappear at a later date at a police station. As I understand it there is no surety involved. They don’t need to charge him at this point. Had he been charged he could have been bailed to appear before court (judicial bail). The whole thing is a disgrace. They don’t have evidence in my view worthy of a custodial sentence and therefore they haven’t charged him.
    This issue is going to blow up in the socialists faces. The police have behaved very badly. They have taken away personal correspondence between the MP and his constituents and allegedly blocked his email account. I would not be surprised if some senior people are sacked. In particular the Speaker of the House Michael Martin, otherwise known as “Gorballs Mick” a thoroughly nasty piece of work and the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith the ex home economics teacher. There will be fireworks at tomorrows opening of Parliament.

  10. Congrats R A,
    G. Brown did become P.M. around a year and a half ago, but until things change it is still going to be “Tony Blair’s Britain
    Where the foxes caper unmolested and the government packs your school lunch….”
