The Liberal Party, which I joined in 1961, has done a Nixonian deal — no, make that a Neville Chamberlain deal — with two devils, the separatists and socialists, that will destroy it, just as the British Liberals fell after WW1 by compromising their principles in pursuit of unattianable power.

I have my doubts that Liberals have enough insight into themselves to recognize that they have violated their core principles. I’m sure they’ll happily find a way to justify what they’re doing in the interests of taking power again. Don’t assume they’ll ever be reasonable or rational.
I recall during an election a few years ago that I met PMPM. The striking impression that I had when he shook my hand was that, while he was shaking MY hand, he was already looking at the next person after me. Typical Liberal strategy…opportunism first.
Now…will the other Libs speak out, or are they too ashamed?
It occurred to me this evening that Kim Campbell must be smiling.
Not only that, nobody can really blame her for what happened.
Professor Dion on the other hand…
We’re going to see major shift in Canadian politics, and I think it’s going to favor the conservatives.
Writing to every Lib. MP to express dismay, shock, horror. Surely some of them must have some sense and the good of the country at heart?

In the “SDA Gets Results” thread I just knocked another liberal troll off the proverbial bridge. This one is nicknamed “cgh” and he was supporting the Pet Troll around these parts (Iberia), trying to draw similarities between 1985 in Ontario and 2008 in Canada.
If one is going to have a discussion, why can’t people stick to the facts rather than just making them up or deliberately excluding some that defeat their argument?

just watched liberal lapdog lloyd robertson gleefully announce…
steffi has informed the governor-general that he has the
confidence of ‘the house’ to form the next government.
i’m confused… isn’t this the poor fool who didn’t even have
the confidence of his own party?

Leftards can’t identify facts – they have no meaning to them. Words are only means to an end to the liberals.
WW:
THANK YOU!!! I’ve already written my e-mail to them. I hope everyone else does too.
Westerner. Thanks for the chuckle before bed.Liberals and core principles. In the same sentence.Heh.
Question for you all: Being as open-minded as you can, are there ANY down sides to the GG insisting that we have another election in December or January?
I honestly can not think of a single one but perhaps I’m missing something.
$300 million wasted dollars out of my pocket and an 800+ point TSX crash, Robert.
Worth it to get a CPC majority, but not cheap.
Agreed, what would cost the taxpayer more, another 300 mil for a new election or the prospect of the BILLIONS it would cost to appease the Bloc and the socialistas? This would not appeal to the Mugabian coalition as it would involve democracy and letting Canadians decide.
“… just as the British Liberals fell after WW1 by compromising their principles in pursuit of unattianable power.”
Exactly.
“Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.”
– Edmond Burke
I think Jack knows this as well. On second thought, naaa. On third thought, kill his party dead, before they change their name to Labour.
As a student of Canadian history I learned that even this is not the lowest that a Liberal leader could go. During WW2 King was asked to send conscripts to Italy to fight against National Socialism because the current troop levels actually contributed to more Canadian causalities and he refused. King refused because according to his journal, he was more concerned about the prospects of a Liberal party majority after the war than Canadian killed and wounded during the war against National Socialism.
Dion is keen on this because he doesn’t want to be the 2nd Liberal leader to not be prime minister, he gets his gold star and goes home. The next leader of the Liberal party has the support of the the coalition partners and knows they won’t be the that 2nd Liberal loser either. Both other parties in this have agreed to support the Liberal party’s next choice for leader in May for prime minister, regardless of who that is. And lets not forget that the Bloc and Canada’s national socialists will be on the sideline commenting in public or private as to who they would like to see as leader of their pet Liberal party in May.
As we learned today, Layton has bragged that this deal has been in play for “ages”. Also the Liberals for some reason did not require their current leader to get out after the worst Liberal election result ever. Perhaps the Tories were not invited to that conversation with the Liberal members where it was reveled that there was plan in place to overturn the election. All I can say is with the displayed professionalism of the NDP, if they do form the government, we need not fear secrecy.
Yeah my confidence is just swelling..
Am I the only one assuming that another election would bomb, simply because luke warm voters will be so put off by this they won’t bother to vote? Really, why bother when this can happen?
Robert..I’m open to you proving me wrong, really.
I need a reason to be hopeful for Canada.
We all know it doesn’t matter how the Economic update was presented…this was the plan all along. Those three stooges have absolutely no concern for Canada, and especially the west.
Ask anyone on the street what the Ecomomic plan was. They won’t know…the Gong show reaction was covered instead.
And I keep wondering about our soldiers overseas hearing about all this crap. They are helping a country get itself in order, risking their lives, and they will be hearing about the Three Stooges taking over our government without an election. That’s gotta be hard for them.
Happy trails Upper & Lower Canada. You can have your three princes of pilfery. Just don’t expaect anyone else to be around.
Time to saddle up.
“Layton has bragged that this deal has been in play for “ages””
That would mean the election was conducted in “bad faith” and was as rigged as a pro-wrestling match. That would be a constitutional item that the Governor General’s legal advisors would be interested in would they not?
It means the 4 party platforms were an illusion and that this coalition was the real “hidden agenda”.
Sounds like Electoral Fraud to me.
A lot of harsh words have been written and said about Stephen Harper the past few days, but give him some credit – he united the right a few years ago and now he has united the left.
I had to chuckle at CPAC channel. House of Commons affairs. Mr Poilievre, the secretary to the Conservatives, was side by side with John McCallum for the liberals and Libby Davis NDP, house leader.
Mr Poilievre lead off with quotes by Mr McCallum on the NDP. Neanderthals and economic Luddites and all.
He seemed to be interrupted about five or six times by the interviewer, but he plowed on. “But…. err… and…. ahem….” seemed to be coming out of the worthy interviewer. He scarce interrupted McCallum and Libby Davis. Then his interview settled down somewhat, to a decent job.
Polievre nailed ’em solidly with their own petard. Libby seems a nice lady- liked her.
I have just emailed the GG, the Liberal Party and all Liberal MPS. I urge you all to do the same!
The G&M Poll needs a little help.
Oops: link for the G&M Poll…
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/
Stephen Harper is a man of action to be sure. So far he’s the only prime minister in Canadian history to bring down his own government not once -BUT TWICE!
Way to go Steverino!
That G&M poll is the only one leaning left.
Very telling.
I wonder what the next brilliant Reform Party move will be. Invade the United States maybe? Revive the Arrow? Make gun ownership for 9-year olds mandatory? How about enforced creationism indoctrination?
Harper carries little if any blame. It wouldn’t have mattered what he did, the treasonous Marxist, Layton, would have done what he did anyway. Layton is a deceitful little creep. He doesn’t care about the country…only the “Revolution”.
Merklin Muffley – short of iodine
This shite is gonna play equally badly overseas, with the Taliban claiming correctly that Canada has an unelected government, so “democracy”‘s a crock. And when the Indians comment that “curiously, Stephane Dion actually LOST seats in the last election, and will now be the new PM” we must be an international laughing stock by now. The markets are speaking to this “government”‘s big spending plans already.
Adultery, this thing. Not illegal, but morally wrong, and incredibly creepy.
Time to reexamine the West’s role in Canada. Can someone please make an argument for me for the West to remain in Canada, and I don’t mean “because it’ll never leave!”
