Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The best eight o’clock viewing available in Canada, eat your heart out CBC, CTV!
There is nothing better than Dennis Miller on a roll!
One word, one turn of phrase, and suddenly the ear races to catch up to what it suspects was magical.
Educators might reference this man for how he makes the English language something akin to a religious experience.
Certainly, a marvelling of what can be…
His ability to showcase the dictionary will likely never to be equalled.
Sadly, the only available, to us, station that carried his talk show, suddenly changed their format to business.
Now the only way we can hear him is on internet radio, or O’Reilly!
I’ve been listening to Miller’s radio show daily since it started and love it. Highly recommended!
2012 ticket:
Palin/Miller
Comedy would rule!
“Barney might want to be arrested”
ROFLMAO!
I wonder if Obama loves his country as much as Miller. Patriotism is so passe’ to the left.
“They make Caligula look like a shut-in” Pure GENIUS
I echo your thoughts kathy – finding dennis millers show has been one of the best things to happen to me since I became a Dmz member about two months after the show began a year and a half ago. I have subscribed to the podcast ever since. You can go from laughter to tears to rage and back again all I. The same daily show.
Yeah Doug, that one got a giggle out of me too.
Class act though, and reflective of the American Right. Obama’s the Man now, so we back him up and hope he does a good job. I get the feeling Miller thinks that’s same as hoping for five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but he’s got the CLASS to say it anyway and wait for The Big O to screw up before going after him.
That would be the “innocent until proven guilty” concept that Lefties have so much problem with.
“Barney might want to be arrested”
ROFLMAO!

I damn near choked on my dinner when he said this line. Sheer brilliance, and Bill couldn’t put enough distance between himself and that comment. 🙂
I love the O’Reilly Factor, and particularly the Miller Time segment. Fox News is generally the only place one can go to get fairly evenly distributed liberal vs. conservative talking heads.
And is anyone at all surprised that Iggy got this little bit of ‘light’ exposure during a frilly CBC Saturday afternoon programme?
Didn’t think so.
I listened to it while driving…he’s boring.
CBC…the LPC prop/propaganda machine.
I love this guys mouth. Never a dull moment when he’s in top gear. I wish we could get his show if he has one. I know CNN canceled him a few years ago. Too Conservative.
GREAT stuff!
Canada’s such a backwater, by comparison. What an impoverished public square we have. It’s enough to make a grown person cry–and/or be very angry. Fie on being “nice”: what a boring, appeasing cop out.
P.S. Re the related Marvin Kalb interview with Bill O’Reilly (below).
‘Talk about not nice: Bill was the voice of reason, while Mr. Kalb was, quite definitely, not nice. What a weasel.
Dear gawd that was awesome. I want Dennis Miller as my wingman next time I go to the inlaws.
Miller could never be taken seriously in the political arena simply for this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117826/
He’s come a long way back from the “Bordello of Blood” but if he was to run for anything politically significant I’m sure there would be a Director’s cut version rushed to Wal-Mart with 30 minutes of all new must-see steamily terrifying deleted scenes. SNL would devour him every Saturday like an unlucky post-coital male black widow.
That said, Miller is the best of the regulars on “The Factor” and definitely injects some entertaining conservative perspective on the week’s wackiest news.
Miller: “Barney might want to be arrested” !!!!!!!
(Damn–just read the same comment by you, Doug … great minds think alike?)
How about a Miller/Palin ticket in four years? At least it would be a laugh a minute.
(We’re channelling each other, Doug. Great minds think alike and fools seldom differ … hey, I like the “great minds” better.)
I LOVE Dennis Miller. Why the heck isn’t he on TV anymore? The guy’s got his head screwed on and thinks faster than a speeding bullet.
Thanx for this, Kate. It’s made my day.
Dennis Miller should have his own show on Fox. He’s the best.
Anyone who listens to OReilly deserves Sarah Palin!
Hey, Realistik, you must mean me, discerning person that I am!
‘Too bad rich food disagrees with you. Enjoy your tofu . . .
Is Miller are recent convert? From a clip a short few years back, I got the impression that he developed a liking and respect for Bush perhaps out of a sense of his (Bush’s) grace under pressure during the darkest days of the Iraq war. Just wondering?
I don’t hear him much, but Miller never fails to make me feel good. And ditto on the comments about his classiness wishing Obama success. That’s manly, a rare trait nowadays.
I saw Miller a few years ago in Palm Springs at a casino. The guy was on fire for a solid hour. I was laughing my arse off and at the same time agreeing with everything he said. Not too many people can combine humour and deep thought quite the way he can. Only Jon Stewart is as intellectually DEEP as Dennis Miller.
Just Kidding!! LOL. Miller is to Mark Spitz as Jon Stewart is to a little puke in a paddling pool with floaties and a diaper full of s**t.
Dennis is so tuned in, he’s got a grasp on what exactly is going on and explains it perfectly.
On top of that he’s got a certain CLASS.
Oh that we would have a few people in our media with his attitude on the person who happens to be running his country. He’s wishing Obama well because it’s in everyone in his country’s interest that he do well.
We could do with a huge helping of respect towards our PM from our media as well.Mr Harper did an amazing job in Washington this weekend, will we hear accolades from our media?
Maybe they’d rather discuss what’s going on with the Liberals. Rae and Iggy are having a public tiff about having a private debate not open to media. Talk about hypocrites, after they’ve been yakking about the Conservatives keeping media out for a portion of their convention.
Prepare for another Gong Show style Liberal leadership. Get out the beer and popcorn.
Miller owns one of the sharpest minds on the television and radio.
He obviously is well read, using analogies and references to wide variety of subjects.
Miller time is the segment on O’Reily that is most entertaining and hits right between the eyes.
Liz J: “We could do with a huge helping of respect towards our PM from our media as well.Mr Harper did an amazing job in Washington this weekend, will we hear accolades from our media?”
I totally agree, Liz. And, no, we won’t hear any accolades from the damned media. My husband and I just turned on the telly and guess who we see? A close-up of the Iggster. We remarked on how come it’s all Liberal all the time? Always winter … never Christmas … always Librano … never CPC.
We wondered how come we don’t see our accomplished prime minister on TV, seeing as he’s doing one Hell of a job of governing our country? Well, that’s a rhetorical question, because we know why we hardly ever see him on TV.
He’s doing such a great job, the MSM would have to swallow their pride and their visceral dislike of PMSH if they were to let Canadians in on all the things he’s doing and on the very positive international profile he’s building for Canada.
Where’s a Canadian Dennis Miller when you need one?
Dennis is a very recent convert to conservative politics. He actually learned his trade from Al Franken, of all people. They did a great bit on “Weekend Update” a few years back. Franken was a roving reporter who did on location stories, wearing a motorcycle helmet with a satellite dish attached. Those were so funny, I think I’ll see if any are on youtube.
Like Kathy Shaidle, I listen to Dennis Miller’s talk show every weekday. If I can’t listen to it live then there are several stations throughout the day to catch the programme. And his toll-free number works for Canadians too.
Speaking of which, though he’s from Pittsburgh, he has a strong Vancouver connection: His beautiful wife, Ali, grew up here.
I must confess that I was curious to look up the “official” definition of “neurotic sex”. Didn’t really find it, but did find this. You just KNOW that if MediaMatters were in Canada, they’d be filing Human Rights complaints faster than Richard Warman!
I think Miller is a hockey guy too.
It would be great to see him harassing Cherry with McLean having to jump in on Coaches Corner.
Seems like the American media is taking a page out of the Canadian media’s adoration of all things Liberal in their approach to their new President-elect.
