Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

can’t wait to see Harper and his government come down! 🙂
I think it would be great if I received a fund appeal from the Conservative party HQ to help pay down Dion’s debt and help him run another leadership campaign. I would even frame that one.
I wonder who Dion will blame after the attack he faces in the media for his peevish little press conference today?
The lame canard has become the albatross around the Lieberal Party’s neck. Ya gotta luv it, eh
p.s. Maybe Dijon’s creditors should call in the loans before the morally bankrupt sale begins.
Stephane Dion’s thoughts of today, consolidated:
I will quit, but it’s not my fault I lost!! It was only because my opponent won!! Therefore, I will stay until I quit later.
His former leadership contender’s thoughts, consolidated:
Stephane, even by quitting you didn’t get it done…
I doubt very much Dion and LPC can engineer spring election,
Yeah but when did Dion ever listen to practical matters. Everyone told him one thing and he did another.
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit that at the back of Dion’s mind is the belief that he is ultimately right and the only way to correct the mistake Canadians made it is to have another election.
‘one step at a time’.
ya, that’s how TODDLERS learn to walk steffie.
in the slugfest called parliament you need to multitask.
you couldn’t so much as communicate in the predominate offical friggin language.
that being the case, here’s some french for you: au revoir.
Dion also said his Green Shift carbon emissions plan was misrepresented
Yes, by himself. It was a tax grab; he said it wasn’t.
The gift that continues to give. If a rock had any say, the pet rock would have outlived the very, very misunderstood dion.
Next.
From MDL, Ray Heard on Dion…ouch.
(Gotta quit repressing Ray!)

you guys just don’t appreciate dion’s machiavellian genius like this brainiac does…
“He just got a million dollars in free advertising. He’ll bring down the government
before the convention. Harper has shown his true colours and has reached the high
water mark for CPC support. Hahahahahaha!”

Dionne…you magnificent bastard….it was all about marketing!!
Syncro
shamrock – I agree with all your excellent points. I was only suggesting what was/is in Dion’s mind.
YOU CAN’T QUIT ME…. I’M FIRED!!!!
I think his motives for staying on could be one of two things but both have the same underlying motive/character tell:
1. That he is hoping to engineer a coalition to bring down the CP over the next budget. Front and centre would be the Green Shaft with both the BQ and NDP supporting it as a quid pro quo to letting them have a set of keys to 24 sussex and cabinet posts – Jack!!! as finance minister and Duceppe as foreign affairs minister – Imagine!!!
2. That, staring a huge personal debt and almost certain personal bankruptcy if he doesn’t get it paid off, he is blackmailing the LP to pay off his debt or he stays around like the stink on a dog that has been rolling in beach offal.
In both cases it illustrates the massive ego – the piousness and detached world Dion is living in. Dion thinks EVERYTHING is someone else’s fault because he is infallible. I think that this is why he is so unpopular in Que where he has been a major figure in the politics there for far longer than he has in the ROC – their deeper familiarity with him has bred contempt for him.
I have nil respect for this spiteful popinjay.
I would like to see Harper,in the throne speech, kill the voting tax.Why do we have to pay to vote? And that is exactly what we are doing. Our monies are distributed to political parties as subsidies. If a party can not raise funds, maybe they should take a good look at why they are not being supported, instead they smile while they snack at the trough. The libs would be on life support if they had to depend on their own fundraising, and lizzie may and her merry band would be reduced to hawking hemp sandals on the street corners.
wallyj,
Voting tax is actually a very good idea as it gives Liberano$ some money so they cannot claim that they are completly broke and this is why they have to accept cash donations from their friends and brothers crooks and criminals. Harper already made it very hard for them to legally raise funds. Remember Joe Volpe he raised $108000.00 from 20 Apotex people (two 11 years old kids among them). That happened when personal donation limit was $5400.00 a year.
Today with $1100.00 a year personal donation limit he would have to have 99 donors to cover same amount of cash.
Dead people, homeless people, terminally ill people, inmates of correctional institutions and psycho wards, emmigrants, and kids listed as donors will be the next big issue for the Liberals.
Think of all the income tax breaks this people will get just for exchanging their cheques written to Liberal party for cash.
We might even get Adscam money back that way.
I can see Dion voting this time in parliament on bills PMSH is going to put forth. Trying for a confidence motion on every bill. He has nothing to lose.
If the other libs are not going to vote, it should split party lines and start making the groups of potential leaders and followers.
In all likelyhood, Dion is staying on long enough to recover whatever face he can while his leadership debt is taken care of.
In the meantime, the Liberals will attempt to gain back viability. If not solvency.
What, did that Munch painting get stolen again?
That is the Norwegian national sport, you know.
Dis is not fair! Do you tink it’s izzy to come up wid a good excuse for losing de helection?
Dion staying on isn’t about proving he’s a leader – its to prevent the power/control base of the LPC moving from Montreal to Toronto. If Stephanie jumps immediately, the party fully becomes the Toronto Party. There is no small support for this to happen in the GTA.
There are a couple of strong but quiet candidates from Quebec for the leadership of the LPC who have not yet surfaced in the public consciousness. The loss of the Quebec control base of the party is the untold story here, not Liberals in parliament.
Toronto has been moving to acquire national political control for some time. This is the closest its been in years to achieving it through a effective national party. The impact of the Bloc is not lost on the Toronto elite, but they want dominance over that influence too. What better vehicle than to corral the LPC while its flanks are so exposed and Quebec leadership is so weak.
