  1. I can’t recall another candidate who whines and figuratively stamps his feet every time something goes wrong. Dion’s wimp factor is off the charts but he doesn’t hold back in calling Harper names. Dion is the one that is “low class”. Close your eyes and imagine this Sociology professor protecting your financial future, or staring down a group of terrorists intent on destroying our way of life. He is the biggest sick joke perpetrated on the Canadian public since Trudeau.(at least he had a backbone).

  2. Je suis schlocked!!
    Dew Over…
    H’iam (je ne sais quois)
    Due Over…
La plume de ma tante est sur la table.
    Over Doo…
    What a surprise Torstar.
    Centre of the Universe.

  3. Wonderful, since Dion and Layton “care” and “feel my pain” and are “in touch” blah, blah blah, is it fair to assume that if I lose my job or my pension fund evaporates due to their thoroughly discredited economic hocus pocus that they will personally show up at my home to share a group hug and sing “kumbayah”? Not bl##@y likely! Give me the hard-nosed economist who’s going to give me the best chance of maintaining the integrity of the financial system any day. I’ll get my hugs from my dog.

  4. And today’s “AA” section is in 100% “destroy McCain and Palin” mode, undoubtedly written under the delusion that Canadians can (legally) vote in U.S. elections or that Americans read the Red Star. Did you know Bill Ayers isn’t a terrorist? That’s a smear.

  5. Clear thinking from the debris-littered newsfloor of the Star, I’m sure. That picture says it all.

  6. Who did the Tarantaaa Star endorse in say the last 3 elections?
    Or even still since Confederation?

  7. Harper’s cut to the GST put close to 1 billion dollars in the hands of people making zero to $15000 dollars a year. The poor.
Even the 1% cut to the lowest marginal income tax did not do close to that amount.
You’d think a newspaper that rails on about helping the poor would be happy about this. However as we know they won’t let their ideology get in the way of helping their friends.

  8. If you want to vote illegally and or multiple times for Obama in the US election, just phone ACORN, they will sign you up.

  9. Tarantaaa Star Polls article Ontario
read the Comments for this article
they are totaly against the conservatives with one comment even making reference to a list of Liberal achievments over the years, No mention of the List of Ripoffs/thefts/boondoggle’s/Entitlements

  10. ACORN?
Mark Twain reports on the Copperheads, aka the Democ-rats (1864).
    Same old same old.
“He [the Hon. H. P. Barbour of Tuolumne] considered himself better than a negro any day.”
    …-
    “arraigned the Administration for nullification and negro equality;
pointed to a Democratic Administration as the only hope for the restoration of the unity of the nation and the Government; declared his confidence in the issue of the campaign, and exhorted the party to unity of action, asking no quarter, but to fight under the motto of “victory or death.” He considered himself better than a negro any day.”
“The San Francisco Daily Morning Call, September 1864
    DEMOCRATIC RATIFICATION MEETING”
    …-
    Canada 2008:
Comrade Jeancula defends Comrade Brezhnev Dion; calls for a return of his ancien regime, neo-Stalinism.
“Tory attacks on Dion ‘personal,’ Chrétien says
Jean Chrétien says the attack that Stephen Harper launched against Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion over his interview foul-up reminds him of the dirty tactics he encountered when battling the separatists in Quebec in the 1990s” (NNW)

  11. Tarantaaa Star.
For one brief moment, I though someone had the impulse to call that icon of fair journalism (for the people, by the people and screw the people) another name.
    The Tarantula Star.

  12. Dion is an indecisive wimp, and the liberals all know it. They are hoping for the sympathy vote for the weak whimpering Dion.
The liberals would use anything they could against Harper, even his own children. They tried that.
All weekend all people will think about is what a weak duffuss Dion is. Yes, they will feel sorry for him, but not sorry enough to put their jobs and the Canadian economy in his trembling hands.
Unless the liberals can get a video of Harper sitting down to a large plate of steaming baby kittens at Thanksgiving dinner, they might as well kiss their asses good-bye.

  14. What surprises me is that ONLY 50 people replied on the torstar story. How many people read that rag anyhow.?
    Horny Toad

  15. Every time I see leftists use the term “neo-conservative” I laugh.
When that word is used the masses are supposed to cringe in terror and hide their children.
A neo-conservative is a evil, bad, fearsome, perhaps even felonious.
Strange how people kidnap a word, brainwash it, then release it back into the public domain with a new meaning.
The word “gay” comes to mind, or even “straight” for that matter.
“That fellow is happy and gay.”
Fifty or sixty years ago that meant only one thing.
Now if we say it, we always add “not that there’s anything wrong with it.”
Today we could say “that fellow is unhappy and gay” and there would be no contradiction.
But we couldn’t say “that fellow is straight and gay.” People hearing that would be confused and their heads might explode.
Now back to neo-conservative and the word neo.
    Neo means new.
A neonate is a newborn. When compared with a neo-conservative, is a neonate an evil baby?
“That baby should be in the neo-natal unit.” (A place where they put bad babies.)
The on-line dictionary has another meaning for NEO. It’s a “Near Earth Object.” Not on the earth by the way, just near it.
I guess that means all we neo-conservatives are far out too.

  16. I agree with DrD (third comment). Give me the hard-nosed economist over the toffee-nosed (def’n: snobbish; pretentiously superior) professor.

  17. The room’s empty because all the whor….err…reporters and their pimp…..er…..editors are out hunting down the true facts on the Lieberals as a Thanksgiving present for us.Yeah. That’s the ticket.

  18. The comments and the agree/disagree votes for the editorial are (for now), running mostly against the Star’s stance. But I’ve seen that change, as the Liberal partisans get into the voting near the end. So, login at thestar.com, and tilt the votes even more against this editorial.

  19. I don’t think the premise of Western Canadian separation is such a stretch. Compare the way Eastern Canada will vote in this upcoming election against how Western Canada will vote, and the difference is amazing.
So different in fact, I think it borders on the ridiculous that we are part of the same country.
It’s clear that the East wants a different government than what the West wants. The only way we can both have our wish is to create two separate countries.
Come Tuesday, if it is a CPC minority, then a large portion of the east won’t be happy, and if it is LPC minority, then a huge portion of the west will be incensed.
I don’t want another minority government situation. The amount of fighting in the H of C during the last 2 1/2 years created an inefficiency in government that, although there were some achievements, prevented so so much more from being accomplished.
So let’s get the movement to split Canada into two separate countries started.
As a Western Canadian, I want to put dibs on Harper. The East can have Bob Rae (after Dion’s 3-strike interview, I don’t know how anyone could keep him as a leader….I think he will be gone).

  20. The Toronto Star is just like the Regina Leader Post. Who else would you expect them to support?
Liberals of course. Sad that we have such coverage all the time.
Wish I had a chance of what to read around here but then again I don’t read their garbage.

  21. Toronto Star is the ONLY centre of the universe newspaper to endorse Dion.
Globe and Mail, Sun and National Post have all endorsed Harper … and all three papers did so before Dion’s demonstration that he’s unqualified for the job.
The big question voters have to ask themselves is which leader they’d like to represent Canada to the rest of the world.
A prime minister, not the ‘team’ around him, is the one who has to think on his feet.
I don’t know if the Red Star has endorsed the Liberal candidates in every election, but if there’s one time when the weakness of this candidate is obvious, this is it.
And, I’m confident the average Ontario voter will be on the correct side of Canadian history come Tuesday … if for no other reason than to show Dion the door.
Quebec can stew in their entitlement juices all they like. If they want to be on the outside looking in, that’s their problem.
Declare independence, already. That way you can be responsible for funding your own societal parasites.

  22. “They are hoping for the sympathy vote for the weak whimpering Dion.” — I am not so sure about this. I think if Dion got a weak minority (or even if he does surprisingly well), the Liberals would be in turmoil. They don’t want this guy in power any more than the rest of us (at least any Liberals with common sense . . . and there have to be a few. If I were a liberal I would stay home on voting day — and send in my $1.83 as a separate donation . . . maybe even bump it up to $5.00.
P.S. The Star endorsement is an embarrassment for them. It is a “the emperor has no clothes” endorsement and I don’t even think they are fooling themselves.

  23. People! Peuples!
Remember to keep your eyes on the prize!
#1. Bankrupt the Liberal Party with election campaigns they can’t fund and keep it away from its patronage lifeline for as long as needed.
#2. Strive for the election of more Conservative MPs until a majority is reached, the NDP is the official opposition, and the few remaining Grits and Greens are vote splitting dead weight for the socialists to carry.
    Yes!

  24. If Harper doesn’t get a majority in this time of financial meltdown then this country is doomed and as such I’m in favour of a western seperation movement. The first order of business is to inscibe in the new constitution that there will only be one common language for the good of the nation and that language will be English. All other languages may be spoken at the dinner table but the language of commerce and industry will be English. Any takers. Second order of busines is to appropriate either a) the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton or b) Chateau Lake Louise in Banff, as the House of Parliament and install Harper as the first Prime Minister for a term to be determined by election.

  25. I made the comment earlier on another post that i have red so many comments now since the start of the election. 1 that stands out in my memory banks and that is the one that the Commentator Said, “If Harper wins on Tuesday i hope there is a coalition Party formed consisting of Liberal/NDP/Green & Bloq” This was today & i believe it was in the Tarantaa Star(short Memory).
This is a scary scenario & i have said numerous times throughout this election that i whole hardily believe that there is one in the works, Liberal/NDP/Green we already know of the Lib/Grn coalition & besides there have been reports of Green Canidates dropping off the ballot & asking supporters to go to the Liberals.
I also have said it this ever happens then we might as well say goodbye to the Canada we know, I will also be Imigrating from Grey/Bruce/Owen Sound to the New Canada & we all Know i don’t mean East.

  26. bryanr:
You would be welcomed in Alberta.
Our economy, like Canada’s, is strong.
We have a hard-working populace that is building a realistic economy and continues to look for workers.
Jackass Layton, when he was here, lamented that Alberta had to import foreign workers.
Even a marxist buffoon like that understands our economic fundmanentals are strong. Yet, instead of encouraging other Canadians to move west where the jobs are, Jackass Layton is content with stealing our money and handing it out to those unwilling to move across the country.
My parents came to Canada from Eastern Europe to seek a better life.
If Layton’s constituency cannot do the same within this country, to move where well-paying jobs promise a good life for them and their families, then we see what he’s really all about.
Once again, bud, you’d be welcome out west. Saskatchewan would also be a good option.
Get away from the toxic environment you live in. You’d love the honesty of western Canadians.

  27. “I can’t recall another candidate who whines and figuratively stamps his feet every time something goes wrong.”
When I think of Dion I think of the guy in the toilet in Jurassic Park that got eaten by the T-Rex. I think he originally played “Iggy” as a recurring character in the Miami Vice tv series.
His big line: “I think this is the tip of the ice cube.”

  28. If the west is leaving can you take rural Ontario with ya? We vote the same as Western Canada but are stuck with loonie leftard Toronto running us…..will you save us? You should try living under the MacGuinty regime……..they want to turn the whole damn province’s farm land into a park or playground.

  29. Kate, the real fun is over at the Mop and Pail in the comments on their Harper endorsment.
Apparently the G&M is a right wing propaganda tool. Did you all know this and not let me in on it?
1100 plus comments and counting. Some very unhappy entitlers (new word?) over there.

  30. And I forgot, Antenor, The Glengarrian and the rest of the traitorous scum, feel free to leave my country, but you do not get to take it with you.

  31. here is an interesting article from Canada.com
“Dion Economy will slow Pace of His Platform”
    Orillia,On. Oct 11/08
*Because of the Economy the Plan could be delayed to the 3rd year of the 4yr plan.
    Stephane Dion
*”Today Mr Dion said he may not actually do anything he promised in his Platform, Not Healthcare, Not Childcare, Not anything else for years. But he is going to do the Carbon Tax Now No Matter What”
    Stephen Harper Oct. 11/08
**”In the middle of this election, with 4days to go, vote with your heart, Vote for the party which you believe in. After the election, Who knows what strategically may happen, Especially if Harper gets back In”
Valerie Powell Green candidate North Simcoe
    oct 11/08
Mmmmm Has a Secret coalition Plan been inadvertly leaked by Ms Powell?
Powell was commenting on some comments Dion made of May & if things are close it would be better to Vote Liberal.
But he really hopes May defeats MacKay, no he does’nt, Yes he does, No, Yes, No, Oh how do you say in Englais, Can we start Over?.

  32. A well balanced and reasoned summation of the choices, though they missed that he is a plagiarist who doesn’t actually love his kids.
Yes, we can choose between a Prime Minister who has dealt with a crisis through a backstabbing political campaign, or we can choose a party leader who asks, “when do you want me to be Prime Minister again?”
All kidding aside, I thought the comments are the most interesting part of the piece.

  33. I just left a comment(if they allow it)on the G&M challenging all of those that have chastized the G&M in their endorsement of Stephen Harper to get over to the Toronto Star & say the same thing to the Star for their endorsement of Stephane Dion, Think that will Happen? Not!

  34. Spontaneous Deafness in English Disorder (SDED)
Scientists are baffled at this insidious disease,
which has so far only inflicted a single person on the planet.
Dr. Hans Folkkkensongenson, of the Finnish hearing institute, was asked to explain how a person could hear every word one moment (and every previous moment) and then suddenly lose almost all of their hearing to the extent that a man sitting right next to another, in a sound proof booth no less, would suddenly be inaudible.
    Dr: Are you people nuts?
Well there you have it folks, another scientific mystery left unsolved.

  35. In other news, in response to reports that Dion looked like a geek in the hockey photo-op where he needed nearly 25 attempts at a one-on-none to score a goal,
he was reportedly seen grabbing a nearby wheelchair and faining Multiple Sclerosis.
“How dare you attack the disabled” his campaign taunted Harper.
The media immediately jumped on Harper’s insensitivity as “cold beyond belief”.

  36. Sorry I should explain my prior post, Most Comments on the G&M are critiquing the G&M for even endorsing anyone, most are saying they are a newspaper & have no right to.
IMO: their just pissed because they(G&M) said Harper & Not Dion.

  37. Even tho the Toronto Sun has endoresed CPC, Michel Den Tendt felt compelled to write this outrageous column… without quoting anything said by PMSH or any CPC members.
    http://www.torontosun.com/comment/editorial/2008/10/11/7051011-sun.html
Beyond media bias Den Tendt is into media
    manipulation.
Duffy, Harper and ATV getting dissed.
When does Dion become responsible for his own behaviour?
And Cretin callng Harper mean!! Time to show the pix of the guy he grabbed by the neck!

  38. further to Kody at 4:09…trumpeting your victimhood is what this country is all about, that’s why so many of the self styled victims in this country (some 20-25% of the population) will vote for poor Stephane, a victim of his own wussiness. while stephen harper, although being the best person for the job will have to settle for a minority, because all the victims out there just don’t want a meanypants to win.

  39. Honey Pot said: “…large plate of steaming baby kittens at Thanksgiving dinner…”
LOL seeing as the Harper’s ostensibly favour cats, but then we are at “Small Dead Animals”!
The small dead animal usually served is turkey, LIEberally flavored with spices, decorated with GREENS, making for a festive New Democratic Party.
All served with CONSERVATIVEly chilled wine and bubbly!
    Cheers

  40. Uh oh G&M is all over the New Flip/Flop of the Absent Minded Professor, the comments are building against Dion.
