Now, If Edwards Was A Republican With A Love Child In An Airport Washroom

Bumped.
Update – Edwards confesses, mainstream media credibility takes another beating at the hands of the National Enquirer.
I repeat – this isn’t an extinction. It’s suicide.

That would be different

So there you have it. Despite the pictures, the child support and the birth certificate with a blank by the father’s name, the story does not meet the newspaper’s standards.

And they wonder why newspaper stocks are falling?
Related – some threats are more newsworthy than others…

“I can only speculate as to why the media would remove the threat against Bush in these accounts. Is it because it is harder to portray Obama as the victim when he isn’t the only one threatened, or just harder to sell the meme that the offender is probably a murderous racist when he threatens a white president as well?”

  1. You forgot: ‘or they don’t actually consider that someone threatening to kill President Bush is actually doing anything, you know, *wrong*.
A moonbat can appear perfectly sane but in fact be completely bat-shit from BDS…

  2. I saw the story on CNN and they reported both Bush and Obama.
I also checked the article on line and it reports both, but Obama is the lead to be fair. Seeing how an Obama assassination had been mentioned around the water cooler including by some of these posters I can see why it would lead.
Looks like a little more fact checking is needed.

  3. If you read the post by Confederate Yankee (You know the LINKs) you will see that there is timeline on the CNN reporting that involved an evolution of the story. NOT from any additional or New information just going back to the original AP report and pulling a few more lines …
CNN = Certainly Not News … stupid, lazy, incompetent and BIASED yes …. News NO.
BTW – I’m surprised that AP had that much info or perhaps didn’t recognize the opportunity to be as selective as CNN….

  4. A sitting US president getting a death threat is not news it is a frequent event.

  5. You’re kidding with the first story right… The supposed “evience” comes from the National freaking Enquirer! Do you want the NYT to cover all of their shocking revelations about aliens in Roswell and hundred pound infants too?

  6. Could have sworn Drudge lead with Bush but the headline is now gone. Edwards confession has taken the spotlight.

  7. Hey Mcgill….
We expext concistency, the Canadian MsM has been using the Enqirer as its main newswire service for years now.

  8. Running for prez when you know a love-child scandal is about to break takes major chutzpah. Why aren’t the MSM or the Dems even slightly annoyed at him for doing it?

  9. John Edwards just admitted to ABC news that he had an affair with the woman and that he lied about it during his bid for the nomination. Claims he didn’t father the child. ABC airing the interview tonight.

  10. People don’t realize that the National Enquirer is lawyered up the wazoo because they HAVE to be, so their chances of publishing full blown crap about real people are very slim.
And only ignorant snobs think the Enquirer is the one that publishes bigfoot stories. That was the Weekly World News. Who cares? Well, millions of ordinary people know the difference. Are you too good to shop in the supermarket like a normal person?
It’s like not being able to tell the difference between the Beatles and the Monkees; it reveals your cultural ignorance and your snobbery, and throws all your opinions into doubt.
PS: the Enquirer proved during O.J., they can beat the big boys in terms of these sorts of stories.

  11. how did Letterman put it?
“A democrat in a sex scandal. happy days are here again”

  12. The MSM will get what they deserve.
Ann Coulter used the “f” word about Edwards, and he’s clearly more complex than that. Personally, I can hardly wait for her apology: it should be a classic.

  13. To quote a comment found on another site “Well, well…a Democrat that WILL drill…”

  14. “I did not love her & my wife Knew”
so that makes it all right in the Dems eyes they will forgive him, Mmmm i forget Did Hillary Know about Bill’s while in office.

  15. “i did not love her & my wife Knew”
So that makes it all right in the Dems eyes, They will forgive him. Kinda along the same lines of Hillary’s forgiveness of Bill while he was doing the nasty in office, i guess.

  16. I find John Edward’s admission “I did not love her” absolutely chilling.
If you didnt’ love her, does that make your extra-marital affair OK? Should that make your wife, Elizabeth, feel better about it?
I suppose, in Dem-think, Edwards’ having an affair with a woman he didn’t love is going to assure Elizabeth Edwards that she is loved?
These Dems are moral pygmies with the thought processes of amoebas.

  17. weeeeell, at least the DEMs can point to Jeeemy Cotta and say that he did not get caught in a sex scandal.
It would have taken more than one term in office to figure out the zipper in his pants:-)))

  18. So now that the National Enquirer has demonstrated that it has a better lock on the truth than most of the MSM, that should inspire us to put the credibility of the MSM where again?

  19. Re: “mainstream media credibility takes another beating at the hands of the National Enquirer.”
I heard a story about the National Enquirer on the radio several years ago. Apparently their record is actually quite good when it comes to accuracy (their subject matter is another topic). They have to be accurate given lawyers would be all over them if they screwed up.
I do like Edward’s excuse – as in “Honey, it’s OK because I didn’t love her”. I wonder what my wife would say if I tried that one.

  20. Well, at least Steyn won’t have to pony up with a winter coat for the little tike.

  21. I’d want to be sure of my facts if I was randy John, because his “I am not the father of that child” is reminiscent of “I didn’t have sexual relations with that woman.”

  22. Did you catch the, “Life Ends For Two-Faced Kitten” story below the first link, where Edwards says the kid isn’t his?
Which begs the question, how deep can you bury a dead rabbit ,… ah, two-faced cat?

  23. This will be interesting to watch play out over the next few months. Anyone remember the Wayne Hays-Elizabeth Ray scandal back in ’76? The MSM was all over it, 4 months later Hays resigned from congress. However we’re not dealing with your fathers MSM or Democratic party.
For those curious paste “wayne hays + elizabeth ray” with the quotes into google and search. The original WaPo article that broke the scandal is the top hit.

  24. John McCain has admitted to having an extramarital affair. So has Guiliani. I’d say this makes Edwards more qualified to be president than Obama. If you can’t handle your wife and a little number you don’t really love, you gonna take care of iraq while planning to screw iran?

  25. McCain dumped his first wife after she had a disfiguring accident. He followed that up by cheating on his current wife with a lobbyist. Oh, and he like to call his current wife a “c*nt.” He’s excellent presidential material…not that the “left wing” media has noticed.

  26. Yes Iberia, this is true, all these things McCain did. Which is why I think he’s a d1ck, and why I’m glad I don’t have to vote for the little jackass.
And yet, Iberia, you didn’t have to wait for the National Enquirer to did the guy out of a hotel bathroom to find all this out, did you?
Odd is it not, that Mr. “Lovechild” Edwards has yet to hit the NY Slimes?
Can you say “bias”, Iberia? Sure you can! Say it with be now, buyyyyy-assssssss. See? You too can learn to speak the truth, in just ten easy lessons.

  27. Oops, sloppy typing. Should be “dig”. Dig him out of a hotel bathroom.
As an aside, I can hardly wait to see how many love children and assorted skeletons fall out of Obama’s closet when somebody finally stirs their backside to go look. Chicago machine? Guy’s got a whole boneyard in there, guaranteed.

  28. What is wrong with a man having sex with a woman (or another man for that matter). Why is it even a scandal. Who said that a man can have sex with only 1 and only 1 woman.
Did you people read the book “Why is sex fun” by Jared Diamond.
This is the most natural thing in the world.
Another republican (who can’t get laid) non-scandal.

  29. qs, do you understand the meaning of the word “marriage” as it applies in normal usage?
Or let’s make it even more simple for you. If a man will break his vow to his wife, given before God and his entire family and all his friends and sanctified by ritual and tradition a couple thousand years old, what possible chance is there that he’s going to keep a campaign promise to you?

  30. 1990’s Dem: Yes I did, but I didn’t inhale.
2000’s Dem: Yes I did, but I didn’t love her.

“”””given before God and his entire family and all his friends and sanctified by ritual and tradition a couple thousand years old,”””””
this is only an emotional thing, thusly only as relivent as BOTH parties deem it
but what you’ve missed here is that it is also a contract that is foolish to BREAK in such a manner
so the question is how foolish is this person, and do you want such a fool to be in a position of general trust????

  32. looks like Edwards studied at the Slick Willie School of Politics.
Nest, Jesse Jackson will be brought in for “Spiritual Guidance”

  33. Gym, being a fool is a condition. Betraying your wife, that’s a choice. Of the two, betrayal is just soooo much worse.
Granted of course that Edwards IS a fool, you can tell that just by listening to the man talk for two minutes.

  34. Byron York has an excellent rundown on the AWOL tactics of the MSM on the Edwards scandal – it is not as simple as the desire not to be chasing an enquirer story. 3W: article.nationalreview.com/?q=N2JmMjY1ZWQ0MGZkY2I3NjIwZDg0ODc2ZTAzZmNmMTQ=
QS – it is not the affair that is the problem as much as it is the 2 year-long cover-up. That and the sordid fact that both Edwards and his wife were making political hay out of the fact that she had cancer and that they were a strong couple all the while paying Ms. Hunter 15000 per onth in child support – It’s almost Michael Jackson-like in its repugnance.

  35. “what possible chance is there that he’s going to keep a campaign promise to you?”-Phantom
Do you really think any politician would? I think you are being a fool now Phantom (sarcasm)

  36. Fascinating to watch the apologists for a man who cheated on his wife while she suffered from cancer – they try to turn it into a simple mistake. If that’s your standard of behaviour, I guess it doesn’t matter that much.
Try this; he sought the nomination, knowing all along if it came out the presidential race would blow up, handing victory to the Republicans. If you don’t have any ethics, at least think of your own self interest. I know you can do that.

  37. What a jerk. Edwards isn’t fit to give the time of day. Being Democrat, he thinks he can wash it all away by humbling himself before the cameras.
He’s just another fool who can’t control his tool.
He says he had an affair with someone he didn’t love? What was the motivation? Is he telling his wife he only “loves” her so that makes it “meaningless”?

  38. Several members of Edwards campaign have come out and admitted to having sex with this woman. What was she really hired for, and paid those big bucks for, maybe to be the resident lady of the night for the campaign.

  39. “Well, at least Steyn won’t have to pony up with a winter coat for the little tike.”
    That, sir, qualifies for QOTW!
    Beautiful, Me No Dhimmi.
