On A Wing And A Prayer

Is there nothing that Obama can’t do?

…a Maariv spokesperson says that publication of the note was pre-approved for international publication by the Obama campaign, leading to the conclusion that the “private” prayer was intentionally leaked for public consumption.

110 Replies to “On A Wing And A Prayer”

  1. does that say “pride and deception”?
the words and the message are a little blurry to me.

  2. ExACTLY. How dare Obama act like a Republican, trotting out religion to curry favour among voters?
Next thing you know, he’ll be talking up the benefits of pork, running up huge deficits, invading countries to get access to oil, buying a ranch to pretend to be a rancher, and other Republican standard planks and platforms!!

  3. Leaking it for public consumption was NOT act of pride, and it was the RIGHT and JUST thing to do for God’s Instrument.

  4. Obama is for sale to anyone and for any price. He is an empty suit that spews whatever George Soros and the Left has written. Without this script, Obama is a bumbling fool, stuttering for even one coherent thought.
Obama is stage managed brilliantly. His wife, Das Bitch, isn’t nearly as trainable!

  5. His wife, Das B*tch, isn’t nearly as trainable!
That’s a little harsh. I’ll bet she’s actually quite nice.

  6. If it’s true that Obama orchestrated this whole thing, it just takes cynicism to new depths. He’s the uber politician. Nothing is real; everything is a show — really a new low for politics and politicians.

  7. On King David Hotel stationary yet! Guess he didn’t have a business card handy.
…oh, and Lord, the number is at the bottom. Just leave a message at the front desk if ‘we’ have already left for Berlin.
“Hello Maariv? Obama here—‘Der Adler ist gelandet’.

  8. I think Das Bitch is closer to reality and Obama is an empty suit only a liberal could love.
What a bunch of morons liberals are. Check out Rush’s site (pay access) for “Barak, the Magic Negro” song, hilarious.

  9. Kate. The question should be “Is there nothing that Obama “won’t” do?

  10. It is better to talk to god to write to god
if you talk to god and like other to hear it intentionaly is not your pray isnot accepted
you must talk with god not to show up your love to the god
if you pray god you do not need to pretned it buf if you go in pray god as Muslim do
when god see all people every day say GOD names and pray them it will encourage other to trun to god when or before need come
but it is humor and kind man if Obama means it
Muslim are praying to god 5 times in morning in noon and afternoon and Magrab and and next after that it means all the time Muslim must remind of god but pray of Muslim are qucik is not take so much of their time butkeep them recognizable they are Muslim
Only Islam relgion pray in maximum time per day to god and ONLY one god

  11. “Barry” wrote this, and stuffed it in the wall, while all those around him watched (in awe?) and he had no inkling that someone else would take this note, and pass it off as genuine.
I don’t believe the newspaper that published this is playing into his hands.
it seems everyone knows now, how it came to be “released”
Oh my God, the entire left world follows this man and believes all it sees?
    we’re doomed.

  12. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
    Matthew 6:5-6

  13. OMG, you guys are right!
How could Obama be considered fit to rule a nation?
He has just confessed in his own handwriting that he believes in, and is indeed guided by, an imaginary allpowerful superbeing that lives in the sky.
“And make me an instrument of your will”
Sounds like a nutjob to me.

  14. I think Jesus had something to say about blowing your own trumpet ,looking Religious & righteous. Only surprised he didn’t pray it aloud to with an band in the background. The big O does it again!! Poof he produces nothing from nothing, that looks like something.

  15. Wow this guy has a clever team around him. They are playing the media and vast swaths of voters with elegant skill. Obama pokes a note in a wall, and to all eyes wanders unwittingly off. Behind the scenes the campaign machine executes their strategy to capture the singular image they want. The image that Obama is a Christian. In one stroke speculation he might be a muslim at heart suffers a mortal wound. He’ll get away with it as well. He is the latest teflon politician.
They are selling images to a public that craves images. And they are doing a superb job of it.
Rock concert attracts 200K people, one well crafted line in a vacuous speech = one picture of Obama in front of a sea of adoring Europeans and a punch line.
He seems to be surfing the same type of political wave that swept Trudeau into power. Hitler road one like it too for that matter. I think it is a cinch that Obama will do significant damage to the concept on which the US was founded if he gets into power. For the US’s sake, I hope this socialist/marxist loses.

  16. Leaked? A student removed it from the wall.
A spokesperson claimed? Give a name and date and time when the Obama campaign pre-approved that the note could be removed from the wall then its contents published.
Let’s put a stop to the two minute hate and just think about what an awesome and unholy invasion of privacy this was.

  17. “Let’s put a stop to the two minute hate and just think about what an awesome and unholy invasion of privacy this was.”
Gee Arthur, the Maariv spokesperson claims there are two sides to the story. That’s all. Its not hate to debate the issue.
As for privacy, if you saw the clip of Obama putting the note in the wall you’ll understand that it doesn’t hold many notes. They obviously have a system for cleaning notes out the wall frequently. I you want privacy you’d best not leave a note at the wall. Cleaning staff, students or gosh even someone coaxed by campaign staff might just pull it out of there and show it to the world.

  18. arthur a @ 6:19 – “…claimed? Give a name and date and time when the Obama campaign pre-approved that the note …”
Well, the newspaper is clearly stating that they had authorisation. They aren’t waffling at all, even in the light of possible breach of law relating to respect for holy places.
I will never give the media these days a carte-blanche for the “truth”, regardless of which side they seem to come from. But when a journalist does make a clear and actionable statement that can be easily disproved, me thinks there is something to it.
…awesome and unholy invasion of privacy this was… Hmmmm, me thinks you doth protest too much! In a couple of days, after we will still have heard absolutely no CLEAR refutation of authorising this release (not some waffle like “not cleared for publication”) of this from the obama camp then you can borrow my pry-bar to remove that foot from your mouth, or a&&, whichever the case may be.
Plus, lest you forget the most notable fact about the whole privacy thing, how the hell can you claim that when he brought the whole world with him, via the media? Talk about hypocrisy!!
Private, my a&&, this whole thing was orchestrated from the start!
I do find it interesting though, the number of lefties that come around and defend obama’s public religion as being a good and private thing but yet fell that they can still call bush delusional bible thumper!!!
Ahh, yes, I understand, if you abuse religion to gain political power that is OK, as long as you clearly don’t believe or adhere to it (wink, wink : the ends justifies the means).
BTW, arthur, do you love obama as a candidate, if so, can you tell me, oh say, three of his main policies? No cliches please: what are three of his policies in plain english that state, with some facts and details what he intends to do as president?

  19. I’ve heard of great presidential speechwriters….but prayerwriters?
    Obama is a fraud.

  20. There are great presidential speechwriters and there are great presidential prayerwriters?
    Obama is a fraud.

  21. Freedom of religion, blah blah blah. How about some freedom FROM religion?
In a true democracy, bringing up the deity you worship during an election would be illegal. My dream is that one day we can have a national election where religion is never mentioned once.
    IN MY DREAMS, NOT!

  22. The words are certainly consistent with Scripture. The thoughts contained within the first two sentences are throughout the Psalms and elsewhere. James 1:5 first comes to my mind as the basis for the 3rd sentence.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Romans 6:12-14 is the basis for the last sentence.
12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts,
13and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Yet like Revnant Dream and TimR, I am skeptical of his motives. I remember a recent thread on the Shotgun between Terrance Watson and Dr. Dawg where Dawg wanted to know where conservatives were with respect to the aftermath of the Katrina hurricane. I cannot speak for the conservatives who are not of the Christian persuasion, but for those of us who are, our activities for the benefit of the Katrina sufferers provided through our local churches/assemblies/congregations are not to be hidden from public inspection but nor do we feel a need to announce our efforts to the public.

  23. “Rich Lowry
If elected, Barack Obama might make history in more ways than one. He will be the country’s first black president,”
But, Lowry says, “Born in Hawaii to a black Kenyan father and white Kansan mother”. (FR)
How could Him be black when Him had a white mother/black father?
    Has Him rewritten/suspended Creationism, too?
Will someones please clarify. The mulatto vote wants to know.

  24. “Gee Arthur, the Maariv spokesperson claims there are two sides to the story. That’s all. Its not hate to debate the issue.”
Which would be fine, except you’ve taken this vague claim and then ran with it as if it were true. See your comment at July 29, 2008 3:30 AM
“As for privacy, if you saw the clip of Obama putting the note in the wall you’ll understand that it doesn’t hold many notes. They do have a system. It’s fairly strict about these notes never being seen by anyone but the writer and their maker. Decent human beings respect this covenant.
“Well, the newspaper is clearly stating that they had authorisation. They aren’t waffling at all, even in the light of possible breach of law relating to respect for holy places.”
THe police have already said no crime occurred and there will be no investigation. Since when is “we were told it was ok” a clear statement? Who said that? When? What exactly was said? How could he have pre-authorized the release of the note if some student just walked up and took it? Wouldn’t that mean he knew the student would take it, knew it would get given to the papers, so pre-authorized its publication? Then, apparently all the other papers decided not to publish it, or report on Obama giving authorization in advance of it having been taken from the wall? … What? Talk about a tinfoil hat conspiracy.
“when a journalist does make a clear and actionable statement that can be easily disproved, me thinks there is something to it.”
How do you disprove “we were told we could do it?” Why should you have to “disprove” that. Think about the whole Bush abandoned his national guard committment story. That’s a claim that can be disproved. But we asked that CBS prove it. So they offered up some memos… which turned out to be fake. Now this crap paper is saying “we were told we could publish this note”, ok, so prove it. Show the email. Produce the recording. Give the name of the person who authorized it and the name of the reporter who was given authorization.
“In a couple of days, after we will still have heard absolutely no CLEAR refutation of authorising this release (not some waffle like “not cleared for publication”) of this from the obama camp then you can borrow my pry-bar to remove that foot from your mouth”
What else could they say? I say it was cleared. Are they supposed to say John never cleared it? I mean, what are you asking them to deny? And why is your burden of proof so messed up that its on the Obama campaign to prove they never authorized the release, when if it’s actually true, it should be so darn simply to prove it is true. Name and date of person who said ‘x’.
, or a&&, whichever the case may be.
“how the hell can you claim that when he brought the whole world with him, via the media? Talk about hypocrisy!! Private, my a&&, this whole thing was orchestrated from the start!”
There you go. The reason you want Obama to prove it wasn’t released was because you assume it’s true. A vague denial on the part of this slimbag paper and you’re on board.
“I do find it interesting though, the number of lefties that come around and defend obama’s public religion as being a good and private thing but yet fell that they can still call bush delusional bible thumper!!!”
Sorry, I must have mistyped that… wait a tic…hmmm.. can’t find where I said that at all.
As for the campaign 3 bullet points or some such nonsense, what does that have to do with this? Why do I have to be a lefty or Obama supporter to hate what this paper did to him. Or, why do I have to be a rabid bush hater to demand proof from any journalist making a claim like this.
We demanded proof from CBS with the National Guard Memos, and is it ever a good thing we did, because they were fake. Now it’s time this paper produce the proof that they were authorized to publish this note to God if by some unfortunate chance a stupid student should happen to steal it from the wall.

  25. You know, I thought Clinton was a scumbag with his little stunt of arranging the stones into a cross on the D-Day beach in France, but this takes the cake.
Using your note in the Wailing Wall as a campaign stunt? Gives a whole new meaning to the word “crass”. Bubba is starting to look good.
It makes me laugh when Lefties complain about “commercialism”, corporations having no respect for The Planet, or Christmas, or whatever. Here’s your hero the Obamanator making those guys look like saints.
    I’m scunnered.

  26. I love how the Canadian left is crazy for Obama, and this ‘prayer note’ is proof of his goodness, but they can’t stand it when Harper says, ‘God bless, Canada’.

  27. From the link… “Obama submitted a copy of the note to media outlets when he left his hotel in Jerusalem.”
    MEMO TO GOD
    From: B. Obama
    To: God
    CC: World Media
Lord – Protect my family and me.
Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will.

  28. I suppose the King David Hotel stationery is intended as a slander of Netanyahu and Likud. SLOP — standard liberal operating procedure. Still, I’m grateful Hussein didn’t have his prayer incised on stone tablets.

  29. “Only Islam relgion pray in maximum time per day to god and ONLY one god”
And only Islam curses Christians and Jews 17 times a day in those prayers.

  30. Arthur – a second Israeli paper says it was offered the prayer by the Obama campaign and declined to publish it.

  31. Using religion/God for your own gains is a mortal sin and is considered sacreligous. No price to high to serve one’s ego/pride which is by the way one of the seven deadly sins.

  32. Following on several themes here; if you or I wrote a prayer and stuck it up somewhere, would it make the media masturbate?
How WILL the American electorate receive this news…never mind; rhetorical question.
Why is it so important to everyone else (see the previous question) how Obama, or any other public person, expresses their religiosity publicly as opposed to privately.
Do YOU trust anyone who constantly and flagrantly flaunts their piety? (TV evangelists, past and present, come to mind…)

  33. I am beginning to think that all McCain has to do is sit back and act like Her Majesty’s Loyal Puffins, while Obama continues apace to gross out the majority of the American public.
He has now positioned himself to claim that he does what he does in God’s name, being his instrument and all.
Think about that, nestled in a vessel that is demonstrably without principle.
    Downright bloody scary.

  34. Kate – Are you referring to Yediot Aharonot, who was offered the note by the student who swiped it, but declined?
If the content of the note was offered to newspapers before he put it in the wall, why would they need confirmation from the Obama campaign that it is his? They could just say, here’s what he said his prayer would say, and here’s the note and what it actually says.

  35. Nothing he can’t do ? He can do anything.
    He can even PO this, most unlikely of groups, with his pro Kyoto stand;
[Support for Canada’s oil sands is coming from an unexpected American group–an anti-poverty coalition led by African-American civil rights and faith leaders.
The group is waging a national campaign targeting 50 “extreme” environmental organizations and 100 U. S. politicians it says are restricting energy supplies through climate-change legislation, causing oil prices to spike to levels that are “strangling” the poor.
Niger Innis, co-chairman of the “Stop The War On The Poor” campaign and national spokesman for the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), one of the oldest civil rights groups in the United States, said the alliance wants more oil from Canada’s vast unconventional deposits.]
    […]
It is really hitting the fan now !! Will the media take note ? Because this Kyoto bashing comes from a non-“right” source ?
[Even presidential hopeful Barack Obama has said he would break America’s addiction to “dirty, dwindling and dangerously expensive” oil if elected. The group challenged the top-ranking black representative in the U. S. Congress, Jim Clyburn, to a debate today in Washington, where Mr. Clyburn is launching a new commission to engage African-Americans on climate change.
Mr. Innis said African-Americans are more concerned about high energy prices, but many U. S. politicians are “being cowered by a very powerful, well-funded environmental extremist lobby that has a great deal of influence over them, and a great deal of influence over policy.”
The alliance’s strategy involves “outing” the extremist groups and the politicians it says are doing their bidding.]NP
    Jeff Simpson take note.

  37. Since the opposition publicly support terrorist groups while the MSM keeps their mouths shut; it delivers a profound message to the terrorists.
The Canadian MSM will sooner interview a terrorist which they have done, than interview victims of terrorists.
Don’t be surprised that OSAMA makes an appearance on CBC or CTV to be interviewed-provided that the liberal party or NDP are in government.

  38. Would it be a stretch to say the Western Media is more involved in promoting Leftist Politics than Tass & Pravda ever was ?

  39. Kate – who is they? I’m not asking because I don’t believe you. I’m asking because I can’t find anybody corroborating the papers story. You apparently have, a rival paper or some such.
Great. I want to see the proof. It would be funny. So please… link me into the loop. What paper corroborated it?
But PS. doesn’t that makes the newspapers actions even more despicable? They already had the content of the prayer, but they somehow felt the need to print the actual one? Why, if they already knew what it said, why remove it, or encourage its removal?

  40. Arthur A, I’m sure that Obama would thank you for defending his honour, but a question for you…
Can you please provide a link to any posting or statement from Obama or his camp that the story about his camp okaying the use the prayer or offering the prayer to the papers is untrue? If they’re not denying it, why are you demanding proof?
I checked Obama’s website and they haven’t identified this as a smear, nor have they talked about it in anyway. Since they aren’t denying it, why are you?

  41. Arthur – did you miss the words “pre-approved for international publication by the Obama campaign”
    ????

  42. For those needing a non-hebrew source for Maariv claiming Obama approved it:
    http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1215331112489&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull
“In response, a Ma’ariv spokesman said that “Barack Obama’s note was approved for publication in the international media even before he put in the Kotel, a short time after he wrote it at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. In any case, since Obama is not a Jew, publishing the note does not constitute an infringement on his right to privacy.””

  43. it isn’t like Obama’s web control apparatus isn’t on constant lookout for disinformation… if this is a smear Eeyore, someone from Barry’s smear control committee will be on it like… well you know!
Those big ears seem to catch so many flies.

  44. Kate – Let’s be clear about the facts. (1) Obama visited the wall and inserted a prayer (2) Some kid took it and offered it to Maariv, who printed it (3) Maariv claims that because the note was pre-approved for release
Here’s what I want cleared up:
    (a) Was the content of the note given to newspapers before Obama inserted it into the wall? Maariv has claimed yes, anyone else? Link please.
    (b) If the content of the note was given in advance, why would a newspaper print the copy taken out of the wall? Doesn’t that implicitly endorse the actions of the kid who took it out?
“Another Israeli paper, Yediot Ahronot, published an article Friday saying it had also obtained the note but decided not to publish it to respect Obama’s privacy.” – NYPost, but you’ll find this line in pretty much any paper covering the story as well.
If the Obama campaign had released the note themselves this wouldn’t make any sense. If the Obama campaign had pre-authorized the release there would be no need to be concerned about his privacy.
    (c) If the content of the note was given in advance, why would they ask the Obama campaign to confirm or deny that this was in fact his note?
“Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs would neither confirm nor deny the note was Obama’s.” NYpost, and again, you’ll find the same thing in almost every other article about it.
