That’s Our Rush!

The American broadcast industry is rocked, realigned and blasted into a new orbit, yet again, by Rush Limbaugh, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
In what is being described as an unprecedented radio contract, Limbaugh will keep his syndicated show on-the-air and e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e through 2016 with CLEAR CHANNEL and PREMIERE RADIO.
Already host of the most lucrative hours since radio’s inception, Limbaugh’s total package is valued north of $400 million, according to media insiders.

Gord Tulk“Does that give him enough to buy the NYT?”
Heh.

  1. Hmmm, let me see now…..
Rush’s listenership grows. His listeners are mostly conservative and vote that way, especially for president.
The MSM says reports on poll after poll that runs counter to this fact stating that Holy Obama has already been anointed POTUS, doing so while their legs tingle.
Who is lying here? Shall I take a guess?

  2. Rush Limbaugh …. maybe he’s not past his best before date after all !!!
Gord Tulk …. what an insidious mind you have.
    I like it!

  3. The US has Rush Limbaugh, Canada has Adler and Puffy Duffy.
    Geez!!!
Kate, join Wendy Sullivan on Brass balls video, kick some progressive Canadian media asses like Rush, becuse our boys are not up to the task!!

  4. Joe, I suspect that if there were a Canadian Rush Limbaugh (as contrasted with “Adler and Puffy Duffy”), he/she would be spending all his/her money and time in defamation lawsuits and HRC kangaroo courts. Rush Limbaugh is a walking-talking “thought crime” under leftist theology.

  5. So Rush is going to make more in the next eight years than Air America could have made in 100 years.
    Sounds about right.

  6. You know, I can’t listen to talk radio because the callers can be incredibly obtuse. Yet, Rush is everywhere anyway. I’m incredibly proud of him and all the other right-wing talk radio stars dominating the airwaves south of the 49th.

  7. I guess crime, hypocrisy, racism, and sophistic reactionary ranting, does pay.

  8. Rush has the only radio program I want that is unavailable to Sirius subscribers. Can’t wait for the XM/Sirus merger for that reason alone.
Also, 400 million is about half of what Howard Stern’s next contract will be…

  9. “Sorry to say this, I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.” – Rush Limbaugh, about a week before getting canned, 2003.
Rush was right, as is proven time and time again with black quarterbacks. We all should have spoken up a little louder when he lost a high paying job over a not terribly controversial comment. The media hypes black QBs beyond belief and they proceed to suck every time. NFL teams wasting fifty million bucks on a do-rag wearing gangbanger that nobody seriously believes will ever be the next Joe Montana. The spectacle is doubly risible as a Canadian who grew up watching Condredge Holloway and Warren Moon winning Schenley awards.

  10. “when he lost a high paying job over a not terribly controversial comment.”
Thanks for reminding of that incident. I was watching the day he said it, no reaction, they just kept arguing about mcnabb’s talent. Then a week passed, next sunday i watched those wieners face the camera and grovel for at least two minutes.
Several of them apologized, said they didn’t “catch it” when it was said. yeah, probably because there wasn’t anything wrong with it.

  11. I love Rush! He’s so polite with his callers, lets them speak their mind, even if they disagree with him. We, in Vancouver, have the likes of Bill Goodie Good who lets the caller utter one short sentence, hangs up on the caller, and then Bill gives a five minute sermon of rebuke in response! Unlike Rush who has a “conversation” with his callers.

  12. rush. a true intellectual and a real conservative. we have no one in canada who has both qualities.

  13. Actually, OWG, Corus radio’s Dave Rutherford and Rob Breakenridge are as close as we get, and they are both very good.

  14. I love it when a leftard decries sophistry. The leftard manifesto “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” is a defense of and celebration of “sophistry”. Read it sometime, you can see Obama coming in it.

  15. “Does that give him enough to buy the NYT?”
Probably not, but more than enough for all the oxycontin he can shovel into his fat face.
    Rush. a real conservative.
And ergo a hypocrite, through and through. You don’t even have to scratch.

  16. “Does that give him enough to buy the NYT?”
Well not this month but if the share price continues in free fall….soon. He could certainly buy Conrad Black’s Chicago paper which, shall we say, failed to thrive, under its new – extra, super duper, ethical – managers.
But why Rush bother. The NYT’s circulation is melting faster than a witch in water.

  17. “Probably not, but more than enough for all the oxycontin he can shovel into his fat face.”
Really, cut the guy some slack; he had severe back pain, plus the complications from an unsuccesful surgery. I’ve been there myself, having had unresolved back problems for years. Your liberal “compassion” really shows.

  18. “Your liberal ‘compassion’ really shows.”
Scratch many liberals and you’ll find how shallow is that “liberal tolerance.” It really goes back to fundamental beliefs, doesn’t it?
One of my favorite sayings during my decades in the education business was “People make programs. Programs don’t make people.”
Liberals believe in programs. Conservatives believe (albeit with reservations) in people.

  19. This must be great news. Its got the trolls here all riled up for sure. Now if we can just someone like him up here to counteract the baldheaded whats-its-name on the Communist Broadcasting Company,a soon to be total subsidary of Al-Jazzera,things will improve.

  20. Glen Beck gave Rush a nice tribute on his program today.
You don*t get into the 400 Million$ zone unless you have a few agreeable qualities and muncho common sense.
Nice going there Limbaugh. = TG

  21. Harry:
You’re kidding right? How can you watch that video and suggest Limbaugh was not mocking Fox, actually calling him a liar because Limbaugh said Fox was “acting” to make his symptoms worse.

  22. Limbaugh likes his steaks and cigars quite a bit and actually sort of looks like a walking heart attack already. I’d give him a 50/50 chance of making it to 2016.

  23. All you need is a backhoe and a lot of time to see how communism works. You can find the mass graves from Southeast Asia to Europe. Who knows what we would find near Che’s garden wall there in Cuba, where he used to like to personally deliver the coup de grace. To understand the perfidy of captilism, all you need is to suspend your critical thinking as start believing a buch of sophist rhetoric.
Fox admitted that he stopped taking his medication a few days before doing that political ad to make his symptoms worse in order to falsely suggest that there has been less progress in Parkinson’s than there actually has been. Not Rush’s finest moment, but he has been on the air for three hours a day, five days a week, since the ’80s, and that is the worst you can find?

  24. I see that there are accusations of hypocrisy on drugs by Rush. Could somebody point me to the quote where Rush criticizes or riducules drug users?

  25. Whatsamatter flyboy? You don’t like to see people succeed in life? Capitalism works for Walmart, works for me too.
What doesn’t work for me is some central planning apparatchik making me wait 8 hours in a C-Difficile infested waiting room for an x-ray I could get for $15 at the LOCAL VET. My dog got more and better care in his declining years than my uncles did.
    Oddly, this annoys me.

  26. “There’s nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up. What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we’re not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too.”
    – Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995
When you strip it all away, Jerry Garcia destroyed his life on drugs. And yet he’s being honored, like some godlike figure. Our priorities are out of whack, folks.
–Rush Limbaugh radio show (quoted in the L.A. Times, 8/20/95)
Remember Tim, google is your friend.

  27. still no canadians of his caliber.
Really? I thought this country abounds in fat, hypocritical blowhards.

  28. I’ve always believed he has been unofficially banned from Canadian radio.

  29. flyboy, you need to go see WALL-E, right away. This movie was made for YOU, buddy! You’ll cry real tears, yes you will.
Of course it will still be complete BS, but never mind. You’ll feeeeel better, and that’s what its all about.
Dude, Walmart is making money at the -moment- because they have taken advantage of a confluence of events.
They have the best supply chain management in existence. If the US Army threw out whatever they have and adopted Walmart’s method they could probably triple their effectiveness.
They have done a lot of things really well. If they ever stop doing those things well, or if market conditions change too fast for them to adjust ($300/barrel oil by Christmas, Chicom government falls, Rock Obama becomes president) then somebody else will come along and eat their lunch.
The problem with you flyboy, you don’t remember history. Case in point, General Motors. GM was the Big Fish back in the 1950’s and 60’s. “What’s good for GM is good for America.” It was true, too. Fast forward to yesterday, it was revealed that GM has dropped the ball so horribly that they could be OUT OF BUSINESS by this time next year. Toast. Kaput. Hasta la vista, baby.
Why? Because they have too much management layer, mostly. Central planning doesn’t work, no matter who does it. It killed the USSR, it nearly killed IBM until they fired everybody, and its killing GM. Presently it will kill Microsoft, unless they do what IBM did and fire 2/3rds of their management.
Now, the reason Capitalism works is because it punishes stupidity. Socialism doesn’t do that, which is why it always leads to mass misery.
Limbaugh is a perfect example of a guy with an idea, who was in the right place at the right time, and who WORKED HIS ASS OFF to get where he has finally got to. Limbaugh’s idea was that Americans are getting sick of listening to Leftists spout anti-Capitalist propaganda, and that they would pay money to hear some truth for a change. $400 million bucks says he was right.
Where’s -your- $400 million bucks, flyboy? Maybe you need a new idea, eh?
