The Chinese surge ahead!
China has now clearly overtaken the United States as the world’s leading emitter of climate-warming gases, a new study has found. The increasing emissions from China – up 8 percent in the past year – accounted for two-thirds of the growth in global greenhouse gas emissions in 2007, the study found.
The report, released Friday by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, is an annual study. Last year, for the first time, the researchers found that China had edged ahead of the United States as the world’s leading emitter.
And there’s no end in sight.

There’s no end in sight…
– of the steady job losses to Asia which started in the nineties.
– of the widening emissions gap between China and the US as China booms and America wanes
– of the transfer of wealth from Europe and America to China
-of the growing devestation brought onto our economy by the Kyoto Protocol.
One hundred thirty-seven (137) developing countries have ratified the (Kyoto) protocol, including Brazil, China and India, but have no obligation beyond monitoring and reporting emissions.
Expect to see more of the developing economies overtake the powerhouses in the West soon.
Kyotoism is simply another money laundering scheme of the UN politburo to transfer money from the West to the ‘other countries’. These ‘other countries’ are imagized as the desperately poor but in reality, are the rapidly industrializing China and India.
My point – forget about Kyotoism. It’s being exposed as the corrupt scheme that it is and is being reduced to pure utopian empty rhetoic. The handbag of leftist utopians who insist that If Only You Would Do As I, and other Philosopher-Kings, tell you…then the world will be perfect..well, let them do their dance.
Back to reality. The reality is that it is naive and even harmful to set up the global world as one where only one part of it is industrially advanced and dominant, while the rest of the world is dependent and without powers. Such wide unevenness is unstable. We are one species; the ecologies of our planet are indeed widely diverse and do lead to unevenness of development. That’s needed; we can’t operate as a bowl of jello; we need differences. But, if the gaps are too wide, that’s dangerous.
So, what will happen (I predict) is that the industrial operations of the world will even out, and we’ll see various specializations in areas, we’ll see networking where these specializations are even operating, linked together, in different areas of the world. The dominance of ONE part will be reduced, and we’ll instead be moving into a global networked and highly interactive and flexible system.
Maybe Canada can sell the Chi-coms some carbon credits? 😉
Canada’s very own Dr.Evil dreamed this whole Kyoto scheme up on his own around 1990. It’s still working well thanks to the enviro-leftards who have adopted Strong’s scaremongering tactics to use against the political right. An excellent link with all the juicy details here :

China now the bad boy on the block ? A new Kyoto is needed ? Yes, one that does not even resemble the last one.
Kyoto I, was fixated on CO2 only. What about soot, nitrous oxides, carbon monoxide, ect. What about including China, India ect.
– Carbon Dioxide is an essential gas.
– CO2 makes up only 0.03% of the atmosphere
– double CO2 and it still is an insignificant portion.
– at 380 ppm, CO2 is well into dimishing returns as far as an effective GH gas is concerned.
– the oceans are a huge CO2 sink, regulator.
– the last century, CO2 conc has increased (for whatever reason) from 280 ppm to 380 ppm, and what has happened ? Plants grow better, producing more food and releasing more oxygen. Oxygen is good.
– if CO2 conc rose, to say 1000 ppm, what would happen ? Ask the dinosaurs. Lush ferns, great climate. Paradise for millions of years.
– commercial, food producing greenhouses artificially raise CO2 concs to enhance plant growth.
– what if man ‘could’ reduce COs conc. (by destroying our economy, lifestyle) Would it be a good thing ?
– reduce CO2 conc to 200 ppm and plant growth, food production slows dramatically.
– reduce it further to 160 ppm and plants die. We would all die also. (Maurice Strong’s intenet ?)
It is simply crazy to go after one of the good gases while leaving alone the worst pollutants and letting off scott free the countries that produce these worst pollutants. (China’s giant soot clouds rolling across the Pacific)
Only Hollywood could produce a more wingy movie. It did – AIT.
European protests, riots over the Fanatical Enviros’ induced energy shotages. Considering the above, justice. Especially when one considers that it was in Europe where all this Kyotoism started in the first place. And it was Europe that let China off the hook in order to their save Kyoto.
Well, since the clmate isn’t actually warming, this shouldn’t pose much of a problem eh?
There is however all that nasssty, fartfull hydrogen sulphide, hydrogen chloride, nitrogen dioxide, carbon MONoxide, mercury, radioactive isotopes (coal has lots of that, plus you don’t think they won’t dump their nuke waste water in the Yangtze river do you?), and assorted other stinky things those morons are pumping out by the buttload.
If they keep up their present rate of screwing things up over there, they’ll have poisoned and de-populated Asia in thirty years.
Say, is it still genocide if you do it to your own selves for money? Just wondering.
That devastating silence you here is The Goreacle and Dr. Fruit Fly not screaming “Chinese Kill our Climate”.
You can always count on our home grown ecojihadis to do the right thing.
It’s a good thing global warming isn’t much to worry about. If something more than posturing were actually required I wonder what the left would actually suggest we do about China?
Kevin F. you forgot something on your list. There’s also no end in sight to the transfer of intellectual property to China.
C’mon guys, you should know that only imperialist, capitalist, Yankee lovin’ emissions warm the earth, not socialist Chinese ones.
I know it’s true ’cause Moe Strong says so.
Fred :
Exactly. Feathering their own beds.
The Earth Quakes in China, and Indonesia hold out hope that the Planet Earth will even things out..Plate tectonics at its best
On Sept 31/08 California will get the BIG ONE, and Slip into the Pacific.. Of Course Sept does not have 31 days and we won’t have California. The Greens will be Shark Shit… Better that than to be on the business end of the Duke’s Greene.
The result may be that we, Saskatchewan, will move back to be near the Equator again!
…3 years, 2011, China will be a world power and the new ‘policeman’ on the block.
US with Democrates with implode from navel glazing.
Canada? Who?
Democrats for the rectumfiable types.
The grossly under-reported story of the year is that the Shanghai Composite is off more than 50% from the high it hit in Nov/07 http://quote.yahoo.com/echarts?s=000001.SS#chart1:symbol=000001.ss;range=1y;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined
When the US coughs, China gets pneumonia.
As for the emissions thing, – it’s the pollution stupid. china should focus on making what emissions the generate (both liquid and airborne) are cleaner first – to hell with the CO2 produced.

So how does this work? We impose onerous regulations on our own relatively clean industry which will result in industry moving to China where the regulations are much more lax.
In other words we shut down clean factories and transfer the production to dirty factories and burn a bunch more oil shipping the raw materials over there and bringing the finished products back.
And this is good for the environment?
I think that if the IPCC really wants to reign in China and India. they had better spend more time getting the science down, and less time on propaganda. These guys know propaganda when they see it.
agw. a scheme to transfer wealth from the west to just about anyone else. it will be 1.6 degrees cooler by 2030 no matter how much co2 is in the atmosphere.
hey according to the liberal eco-drivle text books chinas suppost to be the model nation becuase they rely on bicycles and use foot pumps too bad but those eco-freak text books are wrong
OR we could go Nuclear and make a bundle of $$ exporting “clean” electricity to the USA.
Like France does – I was surprised to find out France is the world leader in electricity exports – all those nuke plants they built.
A lot of people are surprised to find out that there are about 450 presently working nuclear plants in the world.
The news media only reports on the problems of nuclear power, not the positives and advantages.
And dwells on them for years after.
I’m still waiting for Mayor Bronco Dave Bronconnier of Calgary to push for his own nuclear plant so that Albertans won’t have the expensive, unsightly and intrusive power lines running across Alberta again.
Will Bronco show his modern progressive leadership to make Calgary into a City of Tomorrow?
Or is he just another candyass Liberal NIMBY.
