  1. Hey
Could I screen print the “Dear Mr America” drawing? I swear I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.Promise 70-30 proceeds(70 you)Lets talk.

  2. Interesting. A couple of critiques, Mike.
First, fully formulate your point or question before you speak. “Thinking out loud” is very difficult to listen to, and often by the time you arrived at your question, you, and I had forgotten your original point. Make notes while someone else is talking, so that you have your comment or question ready.
Second, don’t “step” on your guest’s comments. Several times you interrupted Shaidle while she was mid sentence. It’s not only rude, but very annoying for the listener who wanted to hear what your guest had to say.
Listen to your broadcast, you’ll see what I mean.
Other than that, I enjoy your blog, and show, good work.

  3. dmorris, if you go back in the time machine of the Al & Mike Show to earlier last year, the criticism was the opposite. That, we didn’t move the guests along, and it got way too drawn out.
Realize that I spend the whole time watching a clock and trying to match the show up to a pre-determined outline-agenda.
As we reach certain points, I’ll start pushing the guests along. It’s just the way it works. People who do a lot of radio interviews (like Kathy) are used to this.

  4. Mike,
I understand “moving the guest along”, but the interruptions on KS, as dmorris pointed out, were very annoying. This was further exasperated by you not being clear and concise in your thoughts once you gained the floor. Otherwise…I’ll be listening every week from here on. Great show. Cheers.

To some extent, I think this was because I was thinking and re-thinking everything I was saying as not to draw any legal attention to the show 🙂
I certainly was being excessively careful, because the show was live, and the opportunity for post editing was there. But point taken.
Understand, we are an amateur show, and I carry the responsibility of producing and hosting simultaneously. So I only have about 60% of my attention on the guest, and the other 40% on the technical aspects of the show.
We’ll get better, as we get back in practice.

  6. I listened today and thought it was good in that you’re getting the message out, buuuut someone hearing about this for the first time would probably have been left scratching their heads wondering what the heck had just transpired. IMHO

As Al said–he’ll stop you in your tracks if you cross the line. We should all be so lucky to have someone keeping an eye on our six. Get on with it–but when over enemy lines, never forget your line of retreat. That being said; Al shouldn’t be leaning so far back from the mike as to allow Mike to dig any holes either.
Kelly, on the head scratching–I’d disagree. Although, if what you mean is that Mike didn’t extrapolate enough on the topic while introducing his guest–I’d consider your point absolutely valid. Obviously the legal wrangling of using the “correct” wording for the set-up, combined with the distraction of production technicalities was a hurdle. In hindsight I think that’s a minor stumble on such a serious issue. Next week will be interesting.
Blog-radio is no different than fantasy boxing on radio in the 60’s. You never know what to expect. The Al and Mike combination is there–they just gotta get a shtick together–baseball banter at the break or something.

  8. Criticism aside, it’s an interesting show, and I do appreciate that you aren’t Johnny Carson, yet.Good work, Mike, and I look forward to your future show, esp. the notorious Kate McMillan show.
