I think that some of the other comments, from Iranians who are here in Canada, are intelligent and reasoned.
That is, their point was that this young man who attacked the girl in the elevator, was – himself. I doubt if you can validly link his behaviour to his culture. What he did was wrong, but you can’t generalize from his behaviour to declare that it’s common to ALL Iranians.

I don’t think his actions are necessarily the result of his being Muslim. Rapes and sexual assaults happen in every culture. However his defence comes across as being one a Muslim would use. For the Muslim sin is something induced in the individual not something innate in the individual. Thus a Christian man who sees a woman with breasts exposed and becomes sexually aroused would if he were to follow the teachings of Christ look to himself as being incomplete as shown by his arousal.
If a Muslim man sees a woman with breasts exposed and becomes aroused it is the woman’s fault because she induced sin to enter him. Since the object of the exercise is to lead a life as sin free as possible it is better to teach the woman to cover up her breasts than to leave her with breasts exposed and become aroused the next time he sees her.

The boy, here in Canada, assaulted another person against their will. That, here, in Canada, is a crime. Having been convicted, his student visa should be revoked, and he should be deported.
