The obvious solution would be to build an enormous moat on the Mexican-American border, thus solving the illegal immigration problem. Sober, hate to break it to you but those jobs WILL get done, by Americans, if the supply of illegal immigrant labor dries up because of enforcement. They just won’t get done for the killer cheap wages the illegals get.
On the plus side, Mr. Manuel Labor won’t be sending billions to Mexico anymore, so it will probably come out pretty much even.
There’s not even any need to build a big fence and deport millions of people. You just apply the existing law and bankrupt any company employing illegals. Once the easy employment dies up all the illegals go home on their own, no muss no fuss.
I will add here that the existing US Immigration and Border Patrol is horribly inadequate to the job. A complete re-write of the regulations and firing the entire Immigration Department would be a good way to start fixing things.

Having been to the big easy recently, and seen the appalling devastation, I can understand why the idea of rebuilding seems ludicrous. However…
New Orleans is one of the few truly culturally unique places in North America. It was formed from a fusion of British, French, American, and Caribbean people, and in so many ways there is nothing else like it on the planet. If it dies, we will have lost something incredible. I think anyone who has been there will say the same. Unfortunately, the below sea level neighborhoods are a vital part of that city.
If billions of American dollars can be spent rebuilding Iraq, why not something closer to home? And I’m not bashing Bush. FEMA actually did something, while the mayor hid in the Holiday Inn.

Justthinkin’s use of repetitive punctuation marks does not make him illiterate. This is a blog comment and since we can’t see or hear the sarcasm intended many use such things to emphasise a point. That you failed to pick up on his play on words does not indicate he lacks intelligence.

The reference to the mayor being black was entirely gratuitous. In the absence of any logical reason to mention the mayor’s race/colour, one can only come to the conclusion that the mention of his race was, by definition, racist.
That conclusion was reinforced by another poster’s reference to ‘dem ghettos’.
As you see there’s nothing ‘touchy feely’ about the conclusion drawn here: it is based on cold fact. Non-racists don’t throw in observations about people’s race unless they’re relevant to the subject being discussed. Non-racists don’t sit around talking about ‘dem ghettos’.
There’s nothing ‘incomplete’ about my thoughts here or in my original post. From the planting, tending, picking, loading and unloading, cheap labour is what keeps costs down. the pinheads that scream the loudest about “illegal aliens and they’re taking U.S. jobs” are the ones that would never take any of those jobs. Sober, hate to break it to you but those jobs WILL get done, by Americans, if the supply of illegal immigrant labor dries up because of enforcement. They just won’t get done for the killer cheap wages the illegals get.
On the plus side, Mr. Manuel Labor won’t be sending billions to Mexico anymore, so it will probably come out pretty much even.
There’s not even any need to build a big fence and deport millions of people. You just apply the existing law and bankrupt any company employing illegals. Once the easy employment dies up all the illegals go home on their own, no muss no fuss.
I will add here that the existing US Immigration and Border Patrol is horribly inadequate to the job. A complete re-write of the regulations and firing the entire Immigration Department would be a good way to start fixing things.

Having been to the big easy recently, and seen the appalling devastation, I can understand why the idea of rebuilding seems ludicrous. However…
New Orleans is one of the few truly culturally unique places in North America. It was formed from a fusion of British, French, American, and Caribbean people, and in so many ways there is nothing else like it on the planet. If it dies, we will have lost something incredible. I think anyone who has been there will say the same. Unfortunately, the below sea level neighborhoods are a vital part of that city.
If billions of American dollars can be spent rebuilding Iraq, why not something closer to home? And I’m not bashing Bush. FEMA actually did something, while the mayor hid in the Holiday Inn.
With the mention of the ‘black mayor’ and the ‘gotta keep dem ghettos’ it never takes long for the real raison d’etre of this blog (and of your ideology) to come out, does it?

I can’t speak for those that said black mayor on this thread. I can say that MSM and some local politicians … were blaming Katrina (and all that happened and didn’t happen) on Bush because he was a racist.

Justthinkin’s use of repetitive punctuation marks does not make him illiterate. This is a blog comment and since we can’t see or hear the sarcasm intended many use such things to emphasise a point. That you failed to pick up on his play on words does not indicate he lacks intelligence.
You by your assertion that SDA is a nest of racists were the first to play the hate card. Others were simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the press by the way they blamed the farthest away from the situation and exonerated the one closest to the situation because of BDS. Of course the one closest to the situation happens to be one of the lefty lib’s protected species (black) so no blame could be attached to him. Speaking for myself, I don’t care what colour the man’s skin if he had it within his power to act and didn’t act he was either incompetent or negligent or maybe both. The mayor or New Orleans had both the warnings, the power and the wherewithal to act and yet did nothing therefore he deserves a huge portion of blame in this instance.

There was no reference to the ‘press blaming the farthest away from the situation’ either in the original link nor in any of the comments. The reference to the mayor being black was entirely gratuitous. In the absence of any logical reason to mention the mayor’s race/colour, one can only come to the conclusion that the mention of his race was, by definition, racist.
That conclusion was reinforced by another poster’s reference to ‘dem ghettos’.
As you see there’s nothing ‘touchy feely’ about the conclusion drawn here: it is based on cold fact. Non-racists don’t throw in observations about people’s race unless they’re relevant to the subject being discussed. Non-racists don’t sit around talking about ‘dem ghettos’.
There’s nothing ‘incomplete’ about my thoughts here or in my original post. From the comments here, and in other posts I’ve seen about Palestinians and Muslims, it’s pretty clear what a large part of this blog is about: venting hate at people with different skin colours and beliefs, now that it’s become unacceptable to speak such rancid thoughts in society.

When I read the comments about the ‘black’ mayor of New Orleans I don’t immediately jump to the conclusion that the author is racist. I look at what the author is actually saying and the conclusion I reach is that the author is usually pointing out the inherent racism in the media and in particular leftist media. Go back and read the comments again and you might realize the truth in what I am saying.
I have noticed over the years that the person who first claims racism is usually the biggest racist. Those who first claim bigotry are usually the biggest bigots.
Finally for those like you who suffer from BDS please get a bit of historical perspective before you make outlandish claims about GWB abilities as president. I am not a GWB fan. When he was first brought forward by the Republicans as their candidate I thought the Republicans had taken leave of their senses. Then again the Democrats had also taken leave of their senses when they nominated Gore.
That being said I would not rate Bush as the worst president. I would suggest you read a book called Plain Talking with Harry Truman. Harry had a lot of insights into past presidents and speaks of the 5 presidents that almost ruined the Federation. In my memory I would rate Carter as a far worse president than Bush and no I’m not a Regan fan either.
However as far as presidents who made or changed the world for the better I would put presidents like Lincoln, F D Roosevelt, and Regan. When I look at presidents who made the world worse I would put Carter, Clinton and Bush senior.
GWB is a bit of a reactor and not an instigator so I place him in the middle tending to be only slightly below average.
