Al Qaeda is a fascist agenda, whose aims are to reject the modernization of Islamic countries, and move them to a fundamentalist mode of Islam, a pre-industrial mode.
It has nothing to do with the US – nothing.
It has nothing to do with the West – nothing.
It has emerged because the ME nations moved themselves into a dysfunctional style of industrialism – a style that is only partly industrially and mostly tribal. Like having the form and dynamics of a rabbit and the eating requirements of a carnivorous lion.
This dysfunctional style set up elite tribalism for about 5% of the population and rendered the rest of the population without any economic, political or social role in their nation – they were just uneducated ‘welfare’ types or peasants.
Islamic fascism emerged to counter this dysfunctional tribalism and hoped to deal with the problem by ‘returning to purity’ (a definition of fascism is this essentialist focus on a return to purity). So- Islamic fascism is against industrialism, modernization etc – and against the West’s involvement in this.
After all, Saudi Arabia had the oil, but had no technology, no science, no scientists, no engineers – and couldnt’ access it; it relies, still, on western engineers. It still hasn’t educated its people.
This problem has NOTHING to do with the US or the West – and Everything to do with the refusal of the ME leaders to modernize their political and socioeconomic systems.

exile – I most certainly can talk about Islamic fascism and say that it has nothing to do with the west and everything to do with the failure of the ME gov’ts to move out of a tribal social, economic and political to a civic mode of goverance.
The fact that the West financed and provided the technology to enable the ME to extract, process and reap the profits of its oil – is due to the utter inability of the ME to develop its own technology, engineers, scientists etc – to do that. Even now, in Saudi Arabia, the majority of the technological level are foreigners; the Saudis still haven’t enabled and empowered a technological class to do the work themselves. But, they sure reap the profits, don’t they – with their palaces and billions of profits.
Islamic fascism is directly tied to this dysfunctional ME economic and political structure, that maintains itself as tribal, with one tribe as dominant – and the rest of the population left out of any meaningful economic and political roles. No middle class; no educated entrepreneurs. Nothing.

Fundamentalist Islam was deemed to be the answer to this dysfunctional structure. Fundamental Islam would stop the industrialism, the materialism, and reduce everyone to ‘one’ under Allah.
Islamic fascism won’t work; the population is too large for a 7th century sociopolitical mode. The population is too large for a 7th century economic mode. And, it’s too large for homogeneity. The ME states HAVE to move out of tribalism and into a civic mode.
NONE of this has a thing to do with the US or the West. Sheik, between invasions, Pakistan installed the Taliban. They didn’t have to invade, they just armed (sound familiar)and supplied a proxy army, a minority of the population in Afghanistan. Bin Laden also moved back, after fleeing Sudan, set up shop, where AQ planned, then executed 9/11. Meanwhile AQ protected and trained the Taliban.
Doing nothing is a decision too.
