Good News For The Fart Jar Industry

Ladies and Gentleman – open your wallets and extend a great big welcome to Canada’s new Air Registry;

A group of provincial leaders pushing for hard climate change measures failed to gain consensus on Friday, but were consoled with an agreement by all 13 leaders to start a national greenhouse gas emissions registry.
“I’m not suggesting this is Earth shattering,” said B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell…

“Earth shattering”?
Those are hardly the first words that come to mind.

50 Replies to “Good News For The Fart Jar Industry”

  1. Lemme guess! Lemme guess!! This “registry” is exempt around all provincial capital cities, right?

  2. “Campbell led a group of eight leaders — including Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, Manitoba Premier Gary Doer and Quebec Premier Jean Charest — who were fighting for tougher industrial emissions standards.”
    >> Anyone notice the most vocal GHG advocates are all the biggest commie gasbags on the nation?
BTW Boys there is no such thing as a “Council of the Federation”…our constitution charters Canada is a CONfederation of territories/provinces and this has not changed….even as much as statist socialist kleptocrats would like to believe they have concentrated power in Ottawa under a colloquial soviet federation.
Certainly this conference must’ve pegged the GHG meter 😉

  3. Registration leads to either confiscation or taxation. And while I am unconvinced that anthropogenic CO2 is major problem, I believe with all my heart that this and every other measure being taken or contemplated will have not any noticeable effect on atmospheric concentrations of the so-called GHGs. Which leads me to ask, what then is the point of doing it?

  4. I’m still unclear on just how trading “emissions credits” is going to save the environment and prevent us all from drowning in 2010.
The whole thing sounds like a job creation program for lawyers, accountants, enviro policy writers and government bureaucrats.
A better solution might be to just give them all a million dollars each in exchange for them agreeing to go away.

  5. Jon, I agree with your comment.
We have some serious problems facing us which these Premiers are not dealing with.
For them to be wasting time on this issue which will have exactly zero effect on climate change is idiocy.
There are pollution problems in Canada which need to be dealt with but CO2 is not one of them.
I am going to get on the case of my MLA and i encourage everyone to do the same.
Looks like our Provincial Governments need some direction from the electorate.

  6. Looks like we’re looking at new government job description, call it what you will, Flatus Catcher, Fart Catcher. It could also be included under the Ministries of Health and Agriculture.
They’ll need to get the flatulence causing foods modified to keep the farts at bay both in humans and animals. Gonna be quite the challenge fro their tiny minds.

  7. Proof positive that the gun registry will prevail even if the Conservatives capture a massive majority.
Remember, Gordon Campbell, despite the provincial party name, is supposed to be a free enterprise conservative. His very first act was to cut provincial income taxes a whopping 25%.
Thought: whenever pols in Canada (or probably everywhere) talk about cutting taxes and reducing government, this is strictly an intermediate step to enhance economic performance for the sole purpose of enabling the launching of the next wave of government expansion.
This seems to be an immutable law akin to the corporate drive to enlarge market share.
Let us all be grown ups and get above partisan politics. It’s a total waste of time and energy.

  8. Never mind, I googled it and this is where it is explained.
    http://tinyurl.com/3ah27v
It’s carbon credit trading to buy off guilt off for producing too much water vapor.
The stupidity of this system IS “earth shattering”.
If this actually becomes a global plan and include sALL countries there will be a tsunami of carbon credit money coming from China that Walmart will no longer be a discount chain.
But nnnnoooooooooooo let’s kill Alberta instead.

  9. Paul says: “I’m still unclear on just how trading “emissions credits” is going to save the environment and prevent us all from drowning in 2010.”
C’mon, Paul, the UN will run it and it will be patterned like the Oil for Food Program with Saddam. Any more questions?

  10. Hey John don’t think Alberta is the only one that could suffer from this in McGuinty’s own province not far from me is the biggest concentration of chemical and petrochemical plants in Canada. McGuinty is such an idiot, my God. He’d sell his soul to go green.
They are going to build the biggest solar farm in North America near here and pay 42cents a kilowatt for the generated power for twenty years we pay around 5.3 cents a kilowatt on our bill- you do the math. The Liberals especially this group here in Ontario are insane.
When are people going to wake up?

  11. GDW said: “Registry… registry… where have I heard that before?”
Right on my brother tax slave!
    Register it.
Regulate it into reliance or obscurity OR
    Tax it into obedience/obscurity.
We are not talking about registering Gas we are talking about registering private property and privately owned means of productivity.
The soviets did this…the Fascists did this.
Any independently minded, free-thinking Canadian would be a fool to register his property onto a system designed for administrative abuse.

  12. “Which leads me to ask, what then is the point of doing it?”
Votes Jon. Campbell has done a remarkable job here in BC reviving the economy after the NDP drove a stake through its heart. Even then, he was almost voted out last election. I’ve no doubt that Gordon is kicking the last prop out from underneath the woeful NDP. Really, in spite of a booming economy instead of a moribund economic deathtrap, in spite of the NDP fielding a horrendous leader in charge of ecomomic illiterates, he came near to losing.
I predict, nothing other than a few hundred million will be spent on puffery and nothing will be done. Nothing at all.
    And thank god for that.

  13. Watch for the manouvering to turn emissions trading into a Canada wide market.
The strongest lobbying will likely come from Quebec and Manitoba (both with large hydropower facilities). “Equalization” with a new name.
Alberta’s position so far is that they are interested in carbon markets, but it would only be for trading within the province. Sorry guys.
The irony is that when you flood vast areas for the hydro dams, you have the now underwater trees and plant material decomposing to release methane (a greenhouse gas that is 21 times more powerful than Co2). Not to count all the carbon released making concrete and steel to build the dams. In the real world, there is no free lunch.

  14. so if the same fools that designed and built the Long Gun Registry get this contract, anyone wanna even guess at how much a GhG fart gas registry will cost ?
Anyone start the bidding at $20Billion ??

  15. Frankly… you guys deserve to cook.
You’re literally too stupid to live, but lucky for you, you have us to drag your sorry hillbilly asses into the 21st Century.
Give this a read. I know it’s the dreaded NewsWeek, but before you go saying “But these are the guys who talked about global cooling 30 years ago”, at least try and come up with counters to all those unfortunate facts they cite about deniers spending millions to keep you stupid.
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20122975/site/newsweek/
I now return you to your usual paranoid rants about how liberals are trying to make you change your lightbulbs, and register you guns so that when they get stolen and kill somebody, we know who to blame.

  16. One aspect of these plans, not often commented about, is that they tend to have a market component to them. I might have a bad name thrown at me for bringing this aspect up, but I suspect that the greenies and the New Regulators are being given somewhat of a free ride in order to tease them out of anti-market bias.
I realize that this justification is merely pragmatic, and does ignore the fact that these are “greehouse markets” with power and climate control coming directly from ye auld taxpayer. The type of person who is most likely to be conviced by the utility of the above approach is actually an old Cold Warrior, one who believes that almost anything is better than hard socialism.
If you’re tempted to call me a bad name as a result of these words, it would be maladroit to use the p-word. I might very well be part of the organized conspiracy. 😉

  17. John (2:38PM)
“The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC—the international body that periodically assesses climate research—had just issued its second report, and the conclusion of its 2,500 scientists looked devastating for greenhouse doubters.”
(With Eve Conant, Sam Stein and Eleanor Clift in Washington and Matthew Philips in New York)
Note the “2500 scientists” and the “Eleanor Clift” bits.
    John, you poor, gullible sap.

  18. John is from Ontario, our naaaaaannnnny state, the can’t stay out of other peoples’ business province. Warm-mongers are sheep – baaaaaaaaa! They need a shepherd to tell ’em what to do and how to do it. Bleat, bleat, Baaaaaaaa!

  19. John, I guess turning our economies over to UN appartchiks is the way to drag us into the 21st century. After all, socialism and the UN have contributed so much to the human condition.
You sound like the intolerant one, clinging to discredited dogma that has NEVER succeeded in bringing freedom and prosperity – quite the contrary. Exxon gives $10,000 for research and that is unacceptable to you, but $billions can pour into coffers of those who have made a career with the warming scare, and that’s OK.
Why – because they are “correct.” Political correctness is again being used to justfiy juvenile rationalizations (oil, oil, oil) and ideas that run counter to evidence and even common sense (ie-modernity is bad, prosperity is bad, and exploitative too, but socialism, with 100 million dead souls resulting, is “correct”)
Sorry, arguing that an idea is right because I agree with it and those who don’t are deniers is just plain childish. Al Gore said AGW science was “settled” in the 80s for God’s sake John; give your head a shake and open yourself up to new ideas; don’t be afraid to challenge your beliefs – it beats namecalling.

  20. What a great idea! Now that all of our infrastructure is taken care of, now that Medicare is humming along like a well tuned engine and now that our streets are safe and taxpayers are fundamentally under-burdened, why not create another bureaucracy that will accomplish absolutely nothing, will require funding in perpetuity, and will become a favourite political football of the left, casting anyone who dares question its existence as an environmental redneck?
“register you guns so that when they get stolen and kill somebody, we know who to blame.”
Absolutely, John. It’s not the person who stole the gun that’s to blame, it’s not the person who used that gun to kill someone who’s to blame, it’s the fault of the responsible gun owner. Wow. Why didn’t I think of that?

  21. There are two John’s posting here. I am not the one who is the caring, yet totally intolerant one who believes that Carbon Credits are good and high water is on it’s way.
I will comment as John West from here on. I am in the west and as far from the loony bin called Ontario as I can get.
I would rather die than be mistaken for an idiotic Leftist, gullible, intolerant fool.

  22. “You’re literally too stupid to live, but lucky for you, you have us to drag your sorry hillbilly asses into the 21st Century.”
And you are doing it with our money John. You will note how the load will get heavier and heavier to drag along as time go by. Your ilk are slow learners, so it will take a long time before you abandon the stupid global warming slasher movie and invent the next bogey man with which you will extort even more of our money.
You have your imaginary house of horrors and we have reality. My bet is that reality will, as always, prevail.
    Jed Clampet

  23. Great point johndoe124. Another registry to piss away vast monies that could actually pay for things that make tangible improvements to the working taxpayers of this country in areas like healthcare and crime prevention.
It will be a form of taxation on the wealth creators in our nation – ultimately resulting in fewer taxpayers as well.
Great job Canadian premiers – give each other a firm pat on yer greenhouse gas emitters. Once again we find ourselves in a worse spot than before.

  24. The politicians will do this periodically until the theme dies. They go by the polls though. Who knows the questions they ask for the different polls, are the formatted in such way as to get the answer that is expected? I have participated in few polls recently on different subjects, mostly pushing new products. It is interesting how they try to force you to answer questions about the goodness of a product in spite of you telling them that you don’t care for it in the first place. I suspect it is the same with polls on politics and GW.
Some politicians go into politics to do good for others, some go into it for something to do and some go into it to do good for self. In the long term 96.5% turn it into something good for self.
So there is really nothing that can be done except throw the whole bunch out of office and not let them even close to the running of politics or bureaucracy.

  25. Frankly… you guys deserve to cook.
John, I believe, would make an excellent medieval cleric.
Some politicians go into politics to do good for others
Don’t be naive. No one goes into anything for the good of others which, paradoxically, results in the most good for the most people. All people are actuated by self-interest, and self-interest only — including the late Mother Theresa.
People who say they go into things for “the good of others” are either liars or not well.

  26. I live in Michigan, USA and I promise to not fart if the wind is blowing north. I wouldn’t want to upset any of your PC liberals. Good luck my Canadian friends…Orlin

  27. Yes John, what did happened to all that lefty banter 30 years ago about the impending ice age? Brrrr! Another lefty fad of the week, just like global warming, which will soon be replaced by another scam. Why waste our time with Newsweek – put your money where your politically correct mouth is – check out the ($100,000) ultimate global warming challenge and http://www.junkscience.com. Oh, but that would mean you would have to work for something..Liberals hate that..

  28. “”You’re literally too stupid to live,”
Javol Mein Commandant Johan!! And we see the eugencicist and tyrant beneath the green veil.
Hey John>>>You goose-stepping Greenbots won’t be “dragging” the “hillbillies” anywhere…we’re in you face and we aren’t going into your Green Reich of fascism without a fight…prepare to get your nose bloody.
Anyway I’m sure we won’t see you in the front line of jackboots enforcing the new green stalinism will we?
All green gas bag and no guts

  30. Me no Dhimmi said: “People who say they go into things for “the good of others” are either liars or not well.”
Well this is why “John” is so frustrated with us…we have been in his face and the face of his leaders and have exposed them as liars, frauds and profiteering scum….the next step (as their MMGW/GHG BS melts down in the spotlight of reason) is they will attempt to get tough…pushing people around who disagree or challenge their authority/theories/bureaucratic tyranny.
Watch for this last stage of excessive/uncivil force from the intrusive statists who ride the green pony to consolidate political power.
John will be a cheerleader rooting on the jackboots demanding uniformity of thought and conformity to the single party utopian state.
John is pretty much a write off as a rational human and an independent being possessing even a modicum of self respect..the perfect programmed herd animal…just what the Green Fascists need…self indoctrinated useful idiots.
He will probably never pick up a gun to defend his ideals let alone himself, but he will be a useful green quisling who will rat-out his friends and neighbours who engage in “carbon crimes”.
John is the pondscum who think they will be safe if they accommodate tyranny.

  31. I want to make it crystal clear that those of us in BC, me included, who vote for Gordon Campbell’s Liberal Party,do so because the alternative is another NDP style depression.
For over 20 years now, we’ve voted AGAINST someone, rather then FOR someone.
    Sigh.

  32. Poor old wimpy mcsquinty and his quaint waddling group of squawking, quacking fowl (fellow Premiers). They were all fowl jokes IMO. All trying to outgreen each other at a circus stage show, all sitting on a platform to answer ‘questions’ from the press gang. One man was too embarrassed to be seen with such a gobbling flock and he flew the coup.
Anyone else wonder where the outspoken Mr. Williams was? Danny Williams stands head and shoulders over the rest of those mini men. Too bad all provinces did not have enough intelligence to elect a thinking person to be the Premier of their provinces/territories. Pathetic.
Thank Heaven we have a great PM to offset the damage this flock of feather brains could do ….

  33. Danny boy was out smoocing with Buzz and telling all those union guys to vote ABC next time. Has he considered that those of us in Alberta and other provinces are not in favor of a liberal govt that would give all our money to him. And, if we get a majority, and NFLD has no MPs on govt side, how will that play. He is a greedy man, who has no consideration for Canada, just his own ego.
I would recommnend we all vote conservative to keep our money in our own province and our own pockets, not dole it out to a big mouth. Just like the truth is comeing out that algore is fraud, the truth will come out re the Accord, and that dannyboy is just plain greedy. How will he support all those newfies working in AB, and what will those union guys kill the goose that lays the golden egg, if they ever kill the oilsands.
Remember, the Separatists in AB are just laying low, and will spring to action with another liberal govt elected.

  34. Mary T – I am singing from the same song sheet as you – but I must say, in all honesty, that I admire Danny Williams.
Danny Williams represents a province that has had it’s resources stolen and was tricked into joining the Confederation with rhetoric about how much better off all NFLDers would be under the ‘big tent’ Liberano Party. The Fed gov’t broke almost every promise made to the people who lived in NFLD. The train was shut down, the Cod fishery ‘sold out’ to foreign interests, Que. was allowed to steal the hydo power…..I could go on and on…..
The people of NFLD know that the Accord was a stupid Liberano idea and they know that Canada has a minority parliament – the voting minions in E. Canada are very volatile. You and I both know that! Alberta is thousands of miles away. Danny Williams MUST keep his powder dry IN CASE Canadians make the stupidest mistake they could possibly make and elect Deyawn. If I were Mr. Williams, I would be thinking about that scenario and what it could mean for my province should the unthinkable happen. What would Mr. William’s options be with a Deyawn government if he watered down his rhetoric? WE saw Paul Martin’s about face re: NDLD once he had his minority, I doubt Deyawn would be sympathetic to NFLD!!
I did like the one liner your new Premier uttered at the end —-but it wasn’t very force full…where is Mr. Stelmach at on this issue? Campbell was ‘singing’ for the latte groupies on the west coast (BC after all sells coal to the third world – ‘not in my backyard’ would be the appropriate quote here) and old Lorne (Sask) was rambling on …lets hope he has a different job VERY SOON…but what about the ‘Premier in waiting’ Mr. Wall? I heard Mr. Wall is covering all bases like Mr. Williams. What else can they do at this time?

  35. Finally, despite all evidence and mockery to the contrary, I have been proven percipient in collecting my farts in a jar.
Yeah, baby! I love being ahead of the times.
Maybe, at the end of my life, I should donate them to a museum, or some other responsible organisation; after all, I don’t want the jar opened and all my lifelong efforts wasted in one absent-minded gesture.

  36. Liz J,
I thought “Fart Catcher” was an official political position. Someone hired to catch and mend all the boo-boos dropped by a politician.
Kind of like public sanitation, instead of PR.

  37. Jema54, you clearly have the hots for ol’ Danny Boy.
I could go on but think the observation itself says all.

  38. Mugs,
“..and pay 42cents a kilowatt for the generated power for twenty years we pay around 5.3 cents a kilowatt on our bill..”
The difference comes from our taxes.
This fraudulent scheme allows McScrewey to pose as an enviro-mentalist while actually doing nothing except blowing OUR money. What’s the betting that, after all our taxation money has been received, the solar power farm will not be built – because of it not being economical?
It is a folly, a pure, unadulterated, folly. And don’t believe the enormous megawatt numbers, either. They only apply to the farm in daylight and sunlight in summer.

  39. Wighting the Cost of Lost Opportunities: http://meekermedia.blogspot.com/2007/03/weighing-cost-of-lost-opportunities.html
Here is one of the best analysis of Danny Williams that I have seen. I think that he is essentially a demagog. He preys on the vulnerabilities of Newfoundlanders and their sense of being short changed over the years. Yeah, they have been ripped off a lot, and they will be ripped off again if they are taken in by a manipulator like Danny Williams.

  40. I want to make it crystal clear that those of us in BC, me included, who vote for Gordon Campbell’s Liberal Party,do so because the alternative is another NDP style depression.
Too true dmorris, If only they would change the party name and cut their ties to the federal Libranos.

  41. The whole global warming is nothing more then the push for world goverment by radicals and evil groups like the CFR and others

  42. John,
I’ll skip over the arrogance and hubris of your tone.
Aside from lending more credibility than newsweek deserves, I’d have to question whether you are aware that there may be a difference between what Barbara Boxer said and objective reality.
Ditto self-interested “scientists” who use ad hominem attacks as a substitute for solid science.
As more and more of the basis for these “scientists” claims are proven to be inaccurate when not outright frauds, you’d think these scientists would spend more time defending the science and less time attacking the messengers and denying that there are any questions.
And while you’re at it, you may want to look up the “scientific method” and note that defending the science using facts, research and truth are required in place of attacks and propaganda vilifying those who question them.
When I see “scientists” acting like medieval conquistadores, I don’t trust what they are saying.
As for oil money, there is no less self-interest and bias instilled when the government hands out 10’s of billions in grant money but only to scientists who tow the pro-warming line. If 10 grand is enough to pollute a scientist, how about millions and billions? That these “scientists” then peddle the line they’ve been paid for is the problem with turning real science into political science. If scientists are so dishonest as to lie, the lot should not be trusted and that includes scummy, oppressive government scientists. When Nature refuses to publish articles that refute AGW, they cease to be science journals and enter the realm of the National Enquirer. Newsweek is worse.
