I’m an open minded individual, but I really find no humor in suggesting wanting to rape and beat a woman.

I did what was right for me. Listened to about 10 seconds of it and changed the channel. Apparently some people have time for garbage like that. Good for them.

Although the comments are vulgar and the topic disgusting, keep in mind that this is part of a subscription only satellite radio service…and is not broadcast over the public airwaves. Because of the forum that these comments were made in, more so than ever the response should be one of:
1) turn to a different channel
2) cancel your subscription
3) call xm radio and use the channel blocking feature to block out this channel
4) subscribe to their competitor
Anything more of a reaction or response is not warranted.

Its probably due to the very small number of people who heard it that they’re still on the air. Also due to the fact that Dr. Rice is a Republican. As Dagny says, let’s hear them boys do that with Hillary and see how they make out.

According to the American constitution, Americans have the right to freedom of speech. Of course, I’m sure the founding fathers were focussed on freedom of speech as it applied to politics and matters of conscience, NOT on spreading hate, spouting lies, fomenting violence, degrading people, etc.
This was to be a liberty NOT licence.
But, it’s the letter of the law that is followed (mostly) not the intent. Therefore, people have the right to vocally demonstrate their own crudeness, lack of intelligence, lack of self-control, poor manners, hate, perversions, etc.
Once upon a time, in more (ahem) “puritan” times, there were certain societal values that could be relied upon (more often than not) in matters of public discourse…but with the “liberation” from such out-dated concepts such as good manners and respect that comes from the current downward spiral into chaos that western society is currently experiencing, I guess anything goes.

After reading the comments regarding my post yesterday I thought that I’d better listen to the shock jocks again.
When I wrote the comment I was unaware they were talking about raping someone. My impression of the convo was 3 guys joking about some ruff sex that her husband couldn’t give to her. Vulgar, yes! Tasteless, yes! Funny, to each his own!
After listening about 5 more times I am still not convinced that these guys were in fact talking about rape.
As far as that goes I agree that joking about raping someone is NOT funny under any circumstances; but, I agree with some of the comments that said turn it off if you don’t like it!
