Ghosts Of The Past: NDP Caucus Chief Resigns

CBCFodey said he immediately reported the matter to Regina police.”
Chief Cal Johnston disagrees,

stressing that the records show neither the confession letter nor the altered cheques were disclosed until nearly two years later, in September of 1994.
In fact, Johnston reveals that police first got involved not because the NDP contacted them, but because Davy’s car caught fire outside the legislature. Police then became aware she was wanted for fraud in the U.S., leading them to question Fodey about her employment. A couple of weeks later, Johnston says Fodey assured them the NDP’s auditor, “wasn’t concerned and that everything was in order.”
Johnston says that’s the reason police decided not to lay charges: because the NDP assured them there was no wrongdoing. He adds he isn’t sure if a new investigation will be initiated, saying there are still some documents to review.

  1. OWNED!
Okay, when is the lawsuit coming? Will the allegations contained therein be similar to that of the Degenstein wrongful dismissal suit after that Nazi cartoon surfaced during the 2003 election campaign?

  2. Speaking of the imminent defeat of the Calvert government I have a question for the Saskatchewan readers:
What’s been happening with property taxes in Saskatchewan over the course of the NDP mandate? Have they gone up a lot, or what?
I ask because I can’t figure out why the Saskatchewan party is so sky-high in the polls; it doesn’t fit my “Canadian voters are greedy leeches indifferent to scandal, theft, and fraud” theory. Any help appreciated.

  3. I think its appropriate to repeat Maz2’s post here. the libs have more to answer for.
AGWN says: “And it is clear that the Liberal Party did not know.”
    That is bs;complete bhjjdrkt.
Chak is another Liberal suee from the secretive Librano$ training camp run by MayDion in the sub-basement of Mama Teresa’s Ristorante; the maitre d’ and sommelier/enforcer is Alfonso Gagliano.
Chak to sue National Post. How many lawsuits have the Librano$ filed? Count ’em …. 1,2,3,4,5,6,…..-

Farhan Chak is snapping back. He is arguing that his prior views have changed and that the firearms charges were dropped. But that doesn’t matter. When he applied as a Liberal Party candidate, he was obligated to tell the Liberal Party all this information. And it is clear that the Liberal Party did not know. […]
Chak said he is seeking a lawyer to pursue a complaint of defamation against the National Post.

  4. I knew Hagel was telling porkies. I am also willing to bet there will be dozens more leaks once the ndp drops the writ and government employees know they will be safe if they blow the whistle. A government based on a corrupt premise like socialism will naturally progress from favoritism to pork barreling to out right fraud. I can hardly wait to see what the clear light of day will bring once the ndp call the election. It will nice to see a few more sanctimonious socialists exposed for the parasites they are.

  7. Is there know one on that sinking ship willing to step off, is there know one young enough, clean enough, ambitious enough that would be willing to step into the life raft ? Isn’t there anyone on that sinking ship with foresight, with leadership ideas that would come clean and rat out the scum ? Are their lives so intertwoven, that somebody’s wife works for the next one, and their sons or daughter work for another, and that they’re so connected that if one dare stand up against the corruptness, that it will all collapse. Isn’t there anyone in the Sk. NDP that will just come out and say ” For the sake of this province, what’s going on here for the last several years is wrong! , I don’t like whats going on, and I don’t want to be a part of this anymore, and by the way, there’s much more you should know about! ” It’s not just the corruptness, or the mismanagement, or the lack of direction and leadership, it’s just that they don’t care about the province in any way, shape or form, it’s simply become their cow, and they’re hanging on to that teat like there’s no tomorrow, and for them, hopefully there won’t be.

  8. No there isn’t Carl. They’re Socialists.
ol’ Green Teeth and crew will have to be dragged out kicking and screaming. It’s actually very embarrassing to live here in that respect.
I think the real question is: Isn’t there anyone in the Sask Party that will just come out and say “For gawd sakes voters of Saskatchewan, its the 21st century, what’s going on here for the last several years is wrong! Two words. Tony Gabriel. Get over it!”
But I seriously don’t think we’ll have to become THAT humiliated to change things real quick.

  9. This just keeps on getting better. First Murdoch Carriere, then Ann Lord and this scandal, and in Saturday’s Leader Post 55% Sask Party to 27% NDP. Please Lorne, keep digging that grave. I am a union member and a government employee. According to John Gormley I am therefore in the NDP’s back pocket. I stopped voting NDP a long time ago, and I will dance and sing when they are bounced from office. We have, in Saskatchewan, a province with the potential to be on par with Alberta, and to have people beating down the doors to move in here. Yet in the middle of a boom, we are still losing population. The NDP is far and away the biggest dead weight holding us back. May the election come soon so we can join the real world.

  10. My family left Sask. in 1967. I still love the beautiful Cypress Hills where I grew up. I have been watching the political scene in Sask. all these years. I had great hopes that the province would rid itself of the red plague (CCF/Liberal/ndp) years ago – for some reason , they let the socialist hoards move in and take over and stay in power.
I hope with all my heart that the Sask party will move into a land slide victory and turn the province around so it will be prosperous and proud. I am on the bleachers but I’m cheering for you, Brad Wall and crew.

  11. How about the latest from the pulpit of Reverend Al saying the Tories’ emissions plan is a total fraud!
The nerve of that Blow Bag mentioning the word “fraud” when he’s running around telling convenient lies.
Baird has challenged him to discuss policy, you can be sure he won’t because he CAN’T, HE RUNS FROM ANY DISCUSSIONS, HE’S A PREACHER!

  12. To Minion in Rehab….
I love it when Kate hits a chord with you socialists. All you have then is personal attacks…
I would hope you would have something more substantial than that…. but I doubt it.

  13. What a great discussion thread! This thread has union members who are mad as hell (I too am a union member who has NEVER voted NDP!), people who completely understand the inner working of the NDP ( nepotism and hiring of family members throughout the public service) and the idea of ‘what’s next’ from the corruption file of the NDP.
The bodies have been buried by the NDP long, long ago BUT they are now materializing and causing the Calvert government to collapse under it’s own bureaucracy. They key is to make your supporters happy and their usual supporters are angry.
As I mentioned in my personal blog, I cannot wait for the next brown envelope to show up to the Sask Party caucus office. It’s like Christmas except better!!!

  14. Well, what do you know – another NDP scandal. Combine this with the latest poll showing Brad Wall’s Sask Party way ahead of the NDP you can bet that the government shredders will be working overtime between now and the provincial election call. There is no doubt in my mind that the new Sask Party government will be delving into the files of all departments looking for malfeasance a la NDP of the early ’90s.
This latest scandal which dates back to the early 90’s happened at a time when a long line of Devine Conservatives were being paraded through the court system on various charges or theft and fraud. It certainly would not do to have an NDP caucus staffer join that bunch of bandits now would it? So it got buried. Obstruction of Justice, maybe?
The two charged back then that really gall me today given that the NDP was concealing criminal activity by one of its own were the charge laid against Harold Martens for a used computer and to the member from Cypress Hills/Maple Creek (name escapes me) for pretty much the same type of thing. I agree that many of those that were charged back then did some bad stuff and deserved what they got but it is also fair to say that the NDP were on a mean-spirited vendetta against the former government.
Let the chips fall where they may on this one. What goes around usually comes around.

  15. Sounds like not only is fishing season about to get underway but also hunting season, too! I wonder how many of those brown envelopes are made from recycled paper?
I sincerely hope that BW and the SP can find a few other trophies besides a measly little runt like Hagel to put on display in the upcoming campaign.
If Hagel was involved in a coverup, my only assumption for the rest of the NDP caucus is they were in the know at the time and should all be charged with obstruction! Red Roy made sure no one was left behind in the early 90s when it came to fraud charges in the PC Party. I hope BW does the same when he becomes premier!
What went around in 1992 is coming to a neighborhood near you, Lorne. I hope your chin strap is done up!
