  1. What is worse, is the fact people actually pay to read this crap put out by the media!

  2. MaryM, people don’t really pay to read the Star. They have all these notorious giveaways all the time to boost their circulation and the thing is chock-full of advertising.
I remember one kid offered me a six-month subscription for $10 a few months ago. I politely turned it down even though he insisted it was his “only and most trusted source of news.”
I’ve got a hunch he won’t be voting Conservative when he grows up…

  3. You gotta give “scoop” a break … it’s tough breaking a 90 year-old story first.

  4. The star is such a biased left wing newspaper filled with writers that originally aspired to work in TV at the CBC, but were however, not good enough!!! And this editorial blunder is a simple case of what happens when you implement affirmative action in your workplace!! The best people don’t get the job!!!

  5. Better question is, does anyone read the Star’s stuff after it’s published?
    With its single sentence paragraphs.
    And one syllable words.

  6. shouldn’t the star be shut down for environmental reasons. I don’t mean it’s toxic the whine that a gazzilion acres of forest are cut each year well are they 25%?
    We don’t know.

  7. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. The two or three star readers are for the most part illiterate anyway.

  8. what they need this Stephen Harper is the translate that the CBC do me for. If I make mis steak then they make it the same right again. If I speak like Borat it come out same as Tony Blair,
if George Bush make mis steak then CBC is all over it like fat boy on twinkie.
    Borat Dion

  9. Mary M – When you listen to those msm mini minds (and I know that you do monitor them!) you will know that they speak as poorly as they write. I am of the opinion that this attempt at reporting was read and approved by several people; people who do not know how to speak or write the English language properly. I listened to both speeches, why did these people not just get a copy of the speeches and save themselves from embarrassment?
Some actions transcend all rational thought!

  10. Red Star bias at work. They don’t write what they see or hear in the pure form, they’d have no need to proof read their contrived crap.
Our Prime Minister addressed Canadians regarding the deaths of our men in Afghanistan directly and promptly in a separate addres.
It’s a shame we can’t even get truth from reporters even on such a hauntingly moving ceremony.
The speeches were all good. Our Prime Minister made us proud. His speeches are always well done,
    as to content and delivery.
The Metis fiddler, Sierra Noble, playing the hauntingly beautiful Warriors Lament was
    a fitting highlight.
To hell with those who can’t get past their biases
to give us truth in reporting.
To hell also with people like Layton and Dion who lead our Oppositions who couldn’t find time to attend.
SHAME ON THEM, not to find time to honor our great war Heroes of 90 years ago at the site, few things could be more important.

  12. Manifestations of the palpable desperation at the Moronto Star and the CBC. They both know that their beloved Dion Liberals are going down hard in any next election, and they are doing their best to boost their Liberal patrons as their circulation and viewership declines precipitously.
Both the Star and CBC stink with defeat, and it shows.

  13. How many times has the NATIONAL ENQIERER been sued and is the BATBOY hidding out in some place where AL GORE will never find him?

  14. I live in Toronto. The Weather Network’s extended long range forecast – covering the rest of April – has us below normal (in some cases, not far above 0C) for the rest of the month.
It’s all due to the ravaging effects of global ‘warming’.

  15. Occasionally, a copy of the woefully awaful Toronto Star shows up at my desk here in London (UK).
Oh dear. It is a paper that succeeds in making the inhabitants of one of the biggest cities in Canada (and one I am extremely fond of) seem provincial and small of spirit.
I’ll take the Journal-Pioneer, the Quotidien de Chicoutimi or the Fort McMurray Today anytime over this pretentious drivel.
