And for their sake, let’s hope the buses waiting to take them to safety aren’t running on vegetable oil. And that they’ve paid the fuel tax.

Those poor sons of a b…..’s forgot to use the sign saying “climate change”
You see, that way, anything and I mean anything, could be an argument that we will all perish soon
ie, did you know the average temp for St. Patties day is “X” and today its “X(+ or – 5degrees)”! See? There is climate change! Its not the same!
Call Al!
Call David!
Tell them this!
Hurry!
” .. – Ironically, Canada, the coldest country in the Western Hemisphere, is the only country in the Western Hemisphere that has committed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions under Kyoto.”, Patrick Moore.
” .. – Global warming will not be all bad; northern countries like Canada, northern Europe and Russia will benefit from milder winters and longer growing seasons.”, Patrick Moore
I wonder if the latte/basket-weavers marching in the snow bank thought of that ??
Thank-you Chretien, Anderson, Suzuki, Dion, Gore.
The faith of these people is so very deep and pure; nothing will weaken their resolve, nothing. They are very devout, and they are sure to earn many rewards for their piety. Brave souls like these are what is required to stop the evil of manmade global warming.
Global warming is a smoke screen.
Just stop and think for a minute.
The problem is really pollution. Big oil and Big auto prefer you not think about pollution.
That way ICE engine profits stay high and the increasing scarcity of refined gasoline delivers the pot of gold to *Big oil* and to governments by way of a tax flow bonanza.
Allowing the electric car a free run in the marketplace would kill that golden goose.
Rent the *Who Killed the Electric Car* DVD and then tell me you don*t want an electric car. The battery tech is perfected and available today. Patented by Chevron.
Cobasys.com
Ranting about *Global Warming* is fun, sort of like debate about Nicole.
Demanding clean coal tech for the thousands of coal Gen plants in North America, India and China would be doing something real for millions of beings with lungs.
Moving into a Toyota Prius or GM Volt would help too. Gas has hit $115 L here on Vancouver Island.
If Ahmadinejad gets messy in the straits of Hormouze, we*ll be paying several times that for gas. = TG
” .. Rent the *Who Killed the Electric Car* DVD and then tell me you don*t want an electric car. The battery tech is perfected and available today. Patented by Chevron.”
I have heard about the electric car conspiracy all my life. It is BS.
Why the does the latte/basket-weaving crowd not invent anything ?? Too dumb. Too busy protesting.
Remember the 100 mile per gallon carburators ?? Only existed in some waco journalists mind.
Remember all the add-on milage boosting “devices” ?
Remember the ‘Integra-Drive’ hydrogen milage maker ? I saw one blow through the hood of a car.
Remember the Ballard fuel cell ?
Energy engineers make BTUs.
Talkers make hot air.
I got this link from a leftist site where it is being promoted as a place to complain to channel 4 about “The Great Global Warming Swindle”. However, it works equally well for compliments. Show ’em that there are lots of sane people in Canada.

Let see, if we give Vladimir Putin a call and invite all the Global Warming protesters to set up shop and march the streets of Noril’sk, Siberia.
I think the latte sippers will be lining up for seal skin boots, and fox fur lined mittens.
Al Gore might have had the decency to send his fans a few bucks for firewood out of the profits from his strip mine.
Im still a tad suspicious due to the fact that the ICE still uses pistons instead of some much more exotic mechanism. some sort of solid state thing or something that converted the chemical energy directly into electrical.
electrical HAS to be a focus, idling at the stop lite for instance at a fraction of the rpms of gasoline engine.
come on, any engineers out there willing to attest to the fact that heaving all that metal in a back and forth motion thousands of times a minute wastes energy? so why are we still doing it 100 years later?
Global warming hype is not just a smoke screen, TG, it’s a serious fraud. Also, nobody killed the electric car, the engineering’s just not quite there yet. We’re workin’ on it, we’re gettin’ close, just hang on. And, B. H. Aware, your enumeration of failed projects is not an argument against successful projects. From an overall systems management perspective, advances in electrically-powered surface transportation are very interesting, are being worked on, and will come to greater fruition.
Meanwhile, we still have to power the electric vehicles, and the ones for which electricity doesn’t have the oomph (like airplanes), and we still have to provide for heating (and ideally cooling), and we still have to provide the feedstocks for our foodstocks, chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, materials, construction, &c (which currently consume about 40% of our hydrocarbon harvesting and are set to grow no matter what else we do).
The point I’m trying to make is that there’s no general-purpose use for denigrating or sniggering at any contributory energy technology, be it solar, wind, hydro, petroleum, coal, nuclear, &c. Our job, if we are to continue to better our condition, is to optimize our uses of all these technologies, taken together, to produce the maximum benefit for all of us that we can.
Then, after that, we continue fixing the mistakes we made this time, and pursuing new heights of accomplishment we didn’t consider this time, just as we are now fixing the mistakes we made last time, and are pursuing new heights of accomplishment we didn’t consider last time. Life’s like that, has been for tens of thousands of years.
The common problem we all face is dealing with those who would deny the history of the advancement of the human condition in the name of self-aggrandizement or, indeed, of fear. It does no good to argue over the details of our particular designs if we are missing the overarching circumstances of those who would sacrifice progress on the altar of their ideology.
The problems we face in this domain are not the technologists, they are the Luddites and the scammers. As Matt Ridley wrote, on 2003-04-08, “For the past century the world has got steadily better for most people. You do not believe that? I am not surprised. You are fed such a strong diet of news about how bad things are that it must be hard to believe they were once worse. But choose any statistic you like and it will show that the lot of even the poorest is better today than it was in 1903. […] All this has been achieved primarily by that most hated of tricks, the technical fix. By invention, not legislation.”
And that brings us back to the principle problem we face in advancing the human condition: the fear-mongers, the apocalyptists, the snake-oil salesmen, the fraud artists, the shysters, the ponzi scheamers, and the protection racketeers. Always has been, always will. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to heed Plato’s words to the effect that “The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”
I actually had one of those Global warming youths try to tell me that the cold weather is part of Global warming , so I guess when the heat wave comes in the summer that will mean a ice-age is coming soon.
Gosh…all these years I’ve been fooled by the School system of the 70’s where they told us that Plants and Trees need CO2 and we get Oxygen back
so we should plant more trees and keep producing Co2 .
Now i find that Co2 is killing us and the Earth
while smog isn’t so important since Toronto is still having the July auto race and Sept Air-Show that spew soot and toxins into the air during heat waves .
Thanks Miller ,4 more years of Tourism Polution
dollars to cover health care cost from smog and 4 years of your whines to harper to bail you out of the Election promises and billion dollar homeless industry for less than 1000 actual people found as homeles.
Termites – Quote’s from Science Magazine
Termites and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Facts:
Termites produce more Carbon Dioxide (CO2) each year than all living things combined.
Scientists have calculated that termites alone produce ten times as much carbon dioxide as all the fossil fuels burned in the whole world in a year.
Scientists estimate that, worldwide, termites may release over 150 million tons of methane gas into the atmosphere annually. In our lower atmosphere this methane then reacts to form carbon dioxide and ozone.
On the average Termites expel gas composed of about 59% nitrogen, 21% hydrogen, 9% carbon dioxide, 7% methane, and 4% oxygen.
It is thought “There are 2,600 different species of termites, and it is estimated that there are at least a million billion individual termites on Earth that they emit two and four percent of the global carbon dioxide and methane budget, respectively-both mediated directly or indirectly by their microbes.
Science magazine reports that termites annually generate more than twice as much carbon dioxide as mankind does burning fossil fuels. One termite species annually emits 600,000 metric tons of formic acid into the atmosphere, an amount equal to the combined contributions of automobiles, refuse combustion and vegetation.
……………………………………………
Humans produce about half of 1% of all the Co2 produced on earth annually.
Termites produce 2% of all the Co2 produced on earth annually.
Canada produces about 2% of all human produced Co2.
What were those numbers from termites again?
All these numbers can be verified..(Use Google)..
Wake up sheeple…or do you like being led around by the ring in your nose?
those darn batteries, they just keep on needing a charge.
It’s strange they’re calling for action because yesterday i learned it’s hopeless. I saw a seal hunting ad from the International Fund for Animal Welfare, featuring a seal being pursued through melting ice by a huge boat.
They claimed we should stop the seal hunt, because we “can’t stop global warming.”
Can’t these loons have some kind of summit where they can get their stories straight? Of course, they’d have to agree on a date and a place.
The true believers try to fit everything into their theory. Happpens with all of those all encompassing cults. When you say god is the cause of all things then you have to explain gods actions for all kinds of crazy behaviour.
When AGW is the reaping the wildwind (in another age it would be gods revenge) then everything has to be explained and is explainable by some magic property.
Pollution is the problem, as someone said dirtying the nest, but not convinced CO2 is the issue they say it is. Open but waiting for the proper proof not the sales and marketing job that is being done now.
And the thing that gets my back up the most is the statement that the debate is over….even if true following flawed processes to the end point just causes bigger issues down the road because a proper consensus isnt in place.
Simple question…has anyone calcualated annual CO2 production (natural and manmade) Manmade % of total and the how much CO2 is removed from the system naturally…just curious whether the problem has really been sized.
Looks like william did some of that….hmmm we dont seem to be contributing much to the “problem” do we….
On a serious note, I reckon the replacement of teh Internal Combustion Engine in personal transport will be a liquied-fuelled fuel-cell.
Also, don’t underestimate the ICE, it’s a very practical and versatile thing.
For those serious about the Big OIL and Big AUTOMAKERS in collusion with the Big GOVERNMENT… Think for a minute… Quit driving! Don’t buy cars.. that is a surefire way to shut these people down. Taxes of any kind are only a government money grab used to deter you from buying or using these products while still allowing their production. Believe me, if you quit buying; they will quit making them on their own.
Tired of this Jack Layton approach of taxing the hell of of the oild industry to save the world, then crying foul when gas prices go up; or are in short supply as a couple of weeks ago in Ontario and you couldn’t buy it at any price… The prices went up okay on market pressures alone, NOT government interference… Don’t think it stopped many from driving though… just bitc…g…
Hey, I have a question:
We are being pushed ethanol as a global warming safe way to power our vehicles, as it recycles the Carbon. But it is produced by the process of fermentation which release CO2.
C6H12O6 → 2C2H5OH + 2CO2 + 2 ATP (Energy Released:118 kJ mol−1

See, it’s all a hoax – our green friends (including our “friendly” governments) want you to BELIEVE that you are doing something good, but bottom line, it’s all about MONEY. Taxes, extra costs (“..’cause its GREEN”), just another way to get some more moolah outta you, ya dufus! If you think that your local government or Greenpeace can control the weather, then you believe in the tooth fairy. Its all a big hoax to get you to pay MORE, for everything. The only good part about all this attetion the environment is getting is that “pollution” will be addressed, as it should. But making GREEN products also pollutes, too. Depends on what you want and how much you want to pay for it. It all boils down to economics.
Hoax Aware, I had to chuckle at your conviction that the electric car was a hoax.
The electric car was the very common means of personal transport before in line manufacturing practice allowed the Ford ICE to surge forward in popular use.
You are correct about the amazing fraud of hydrogen however.
The talk of an hydrogen highway here in BC from Vancouver to Whistler is pure comedy.
To begin with, the basic cost of a hydrogen car is about a million dollars.
Secondly, you can plug in an electric car everywhere right now. Who is going to invest millions in Hydrogen depots for cars that require process engineers to service?
Hydrogen could provide huge profits and tax revenue, otherwise it*S USELESS.
You are correct too about talkers and *Hot Air*. Be sure to see *Who Killed the Electric Car.*
Remember that when a public DVD production is widely available throughout North America and not one of the claims are challenged via the courts by corporations mentioned, there may be some credibility therein.
In the mean time, why do you suppose Chevron would pay a fortune for the patent rights to the large format NiMH battery and cause Panasonic to shut down it*s North America production plant for same? = TG
Details for Chevron*s NiMH patents rights buyout through the Texaco takeover is 4 posts down at:
TonyGuitar.blogspot.com
What no-one ever seems to address when extolling the virtues of vehicles powered by hydrogen is this: where is the hydrogen going to come from?
As I understand it, there is relatively no free hydrogen in nature. So it has to be produced through electro-chemical or catalytic means, both requiring energy from more conventional sources. So how is using energy sources powered by natural gas, oil or coal to produce the “clean emission” hydrogen an environmental break-through?
It’s analagous to the “green” plans for cruise ships’ sewage here on the west coast. For example, the plan is to have the sewage of ships docked in Victoria piped into the city sewage system. Sounds great, until you realize that the City of Victoria routinely pumps its untreated sewage directly into the ocean…
This has probably been posted before, but I had not seen it. I found it most interesting.

My point was, ‘buyer beware’.
The country side is littered with scams.
If something new works, fine. It will prove itself and be a success.
In the case of Kyoto, hydrogen highway, ect, the politicians, with our money, should spend wisely.
“Remember all the add-on milage boosting “devices” ?”
Yeah B., everyone knows that fuel economy has stayed the same the last 50 years, and technology can’t improve mileage.
Kate, with threads like this, it will be hard not to tune you out, just like people are doing with Adler. There’s only so much fantasy portrayed as fact that people can stand before you’ll only be left with loonies around here (and not the $1 kind).
Yep, sure enough. A moonbat was caught in the trap.
The “super milage carburators” were the hoax the naive bought.
The high milage autos of today achieved fuel savings with; fuel injection, variable valve timming, 5 speed transmissions, converter look-ups, ect.
Does the latte/basket-weaving crowd still have the super-milage-conspiracy-devices in their actic ??
B. I’m not trapped at all, I didn’t say a specific device like your “trap” boosted the mileage, I said it’s advanced despite your metaphorical notion that it can’t.
“Remember the Ballard fuel cell ?”
Yeah, only the anti-oil and anti-auto nuts remember that scam.

The ‘non-functional’ scam/hoax devices are sold by the scam artists. Think Gore, Suzuki, Dion, Carburama, basket-weavers, ect.
The inventions that work (fuel injection, ect) are brought to you, via hard work, by the engineers and auto workers on the line.
The latte crowd does NOT understand this because they do NOT want to. They are cop-outs, who want an easy way out, but still want to be wisked away to anti-everything protests in jets that other hard working people made.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed and hence, clamorous to be led to safety – by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblin, all of them imaginary.
— H.L. Mencken
Sure B. Ignore the link to FORD I gave you. I guess those auto engineers like to foist “scams” on people too, eh?
“Everything is not a case of black and white, but shades of grey”, Patrick Moore.
I believe we have to be careful to not always paint all opinions as B&W, just by who is making them.
In the 60s activists clamored for cleaner auto exhausts. Just because it was an activist idea did not necessarily make it wako. In fact it was good. They we’re the catalyst for the Engineers to invent the Catalytic Converter. Good.
30 years ago shipping Companies, perhaps including CSL, dumped sludge, ect on the high seas. Bad. Cleaned up their act.
Sales and Engineers thought we should have muscle cars(today muscle trucks). Dumb, for many reasons.
In the 70s, scientists said ‘Look-Out’, ‘global cooling’ will wipe us out. Wrong.
Environmentalists said we are pouring too much CO2 into the atmosphere. True, can cool it somewhat. This is good.
Some activists say we have to stop living our life style and repent by giving $Trillions$ to other countries, even Dictators. With no strings attached. Absolute nonsense.
Many, many, moderate Environmentalists are tick-off that their reasonable agenda has been hyjacked by the wakos.
Every case/idea/invention/political initiative, has to be looked at for individual merit. Some (snake oil, carbon credits) can be tossed out in a minute. Others, such as, is there signifigant AGW or not, can take years to prove right or wrong.
When ones such as Suzuki, Gore, Dion exclaim that there can be no discussion, it usually means they have someting to hide and we should investigate. It is not Black and White.
IMO of course. Am I wrong ??
“Many, many, moderate Environmentalists are tick-off that their reasonable agenda has been hijacked by the wakos.” BHA, with spellcorrection.
Therein lies the problem, according to Patrick Moore and others. Moore has argued that the extreme “enviromentalists” are mostly leftovers from marxists with nowhere to go since wall went down and world communism totally discredited. They have joined forces with the anti-globalists, and those wackos who prevent(ed) Africa from development, with millions dead due to their DDT scare.
There is no measure, no platitude no sacrifice by others that will satisfy them. Why, because they are out to get the “man,” never troubling themselves with the reality that they/we are the “man,” consumers of what “multinational corporations” produce. Dion can tax them (us) all he wants, Gore can be their darling and Suzuki can burn diesel fuel saving us; it doesn’t matter, western society must be humbled, and their modernity and affluence must not be allowed to infect the rest of the world. BTW this group is urban, wouldn’t know a cows ass from her head, and has never actually had to wonder if they were going to survive another day. In this way they are allied with Islamist fascism in hating all things western, and thus modern. At least the Islamists are willing to live in caves too.

Nothing is without cost.
They’re nothing but Watermelons, who see Mao as a piker and Pol-Pot as a hero. Ask any greenie and they’ll tell you we have Billions too many people on earth. How do we reduce the population… don’t ask that!
Too many people arguing about this sort of thing don’t know their thermodynamics, especially the second law, and are very bad at setting up experiments. It’s like the perpetual motion machines that similar cranks are always producing… there’s always some energy coming in that they’re not accounting for.
Electric cars are insanely horrible. They use very, very nasty batteries (battery acid is unpleasant, and NiMh batteries are wonderful explosives when compromised) and create just as much pollution as ICE, just in different places. The electric power has to come from somewhere, and either involves coal, nat gas, or a dam (and huge flooding).l All of these are hugely polluting, bu Elec Car activists ignore this (they’re not systems thinkers, and they’re really wannabe Pol-Pots). Then there are all of the losses that come from transmission and storage (again, they’re bad at thermo and totally hopeless at electrical engineering). Remember that electric car activists are also the same people that scream over any high-voltage transmission lines, worry about the effects of EMFs, and look for cancer clusters (they can’t do algebra to save their life, never mind truly understanding statistics as applied to a population of millions… the improbable does happen, and 95% confidence means that 5% of results will be far out of range… 6 sigma events happen, especially if youir population and the number of trials is large enough).
Until David Suzuki volunteers to have a nuke plant in his backyard and a tidal power statoin off of his favourite beach, I’ll regard every watermelon as a wannabe war criminal who should be hung, rather than treated as a respectable opponent who’s opinions have any value. Remember that the biggest opponent of windpower in Massachussetts is Ted Kennedy: the rum-running, Nazi-symp father of his bought that lovely mansion in Hyannisport and he’ll be damned if some greenpower project obscures the view just so some proles can have power!
Hey Saskboy, I once owned a 97 buick LeSabre with a 3.8 V-6.
It got 50 MILES PER GALLON. Best dam car i ever had. I would still have it if i didnt need a pick-up.
Fuel efficiency has indeed improved, by a country mile.
“The battery tech is perfected and available today. Patented by Chevron.”
Perfect if you live in Vancouver, perhaps. It doesn’t function so well for those of us living in colder climes. I notice that -20C is hell on the NiMH batteries I use in my Nikon Coolpix. Can’t imagine how I’d depend on a vehicle running on the same in frigid weather.
Get the TOM CLANCY book RAINBOW SIX its about radical enviromentalists wanting to use a virus to whipe out all humans and the watch the rewilding on the earth froma spcial encloser and MICHEAL CHRITONS book A STATE OF FEAR its about ecofanatics creating a fruadulent global warming crisis
And even with all that snow theres still one idiot carrying a stupid sign reading STOP GLOBAL WARMING the cold must have effected their brain as much as their fingers and toes
Anyone see this? Long but very good.
