You’ll uncover far fewer about Obama’s slave owning ancestors (take THAT, Thomas Jefferson!), his “I don’t care how poor you are” statement to a campaign stop crowd, or the fact that Al Gore buys his carbon offsets from… his very own company.
Just for the, er, heck of it, here’s a (anti-Iraq War, conservative-not-Republican) friend’s take on Coulter, written before this latest incident:
Please. Don’t splutter at me that she’s a reckless bomb thrower. Of course she is! So was Lenny Bruce, who famously remarked of LBJ “Where’s Lee Harvey Oswald when you need him?” But you know what? Bruce could be funny and perceptive, as when he remarked that the Catholic Church is the only “The Church”. And Coulter’s damn funny and perceptive too. Which is why she drives her ideological opponents crazy. Do I look to her for political wisdom and guidance? Of course not! But I do look at her as a fine political satirist and usually find myself laughing at her remarks, even when I know they are not what you would call accurate policy statements.

The other night on TV she called the Left “anti-human” because, if allowed, their extreme stance on global warming will eventually kill more of humanity than Stalin or the Nazi’s. She was referring to those of us in colder Northern climates who are the most dependent on energy for survival.
I think Coulter is an abomination to any form of civic discourse.
There was no ‘objective’ reason to use the faggot expression. None whatsoever. Edwards is admittedly a contemptable demagogue, but call him that and be done with it. She is simply a not very intelligent provocateur. Which would be fine if she actually managed to hit her targets. But 9 times out of 10 she misses and then the rest of us have to suffer the collateral damage of her stupidity.

I’ve enjoyed the reaction of Coulter’s critics more often than I’ve enjoyed Coulter herself. She usually uses a bludgeon (with Gatling gun) when a simple thrust with a well positioned knife would do. Not a subtle lady, or a very good writer. But her critics are priceless: sanctimonious, self righteous, hysterical, and dull, the lot of them. No wonder Coulter continues. Keep it up, I say.

I agree but as an aside. Who chooses the choices for the electorate. Seems too me in North America its the press for the most part with back room deals by old politico’s. Harper is an actual political aberration.

I think theres a very good reason behind why she was kicked off the most respected conservative journal, the National Review. She lacks class, she lacks tact, and she certainly lacks anything that might amount to decency. I read the Review and it most certainly is better than the rest in its class, and I daresy it is far better off without her. NR did the right thing by drawing a line and kicking her out for crossing it. She contributes precious little in terms of value – most of her stuff is bluster that doesnt help with anything.

Actually, Time (and presumably other outlets as well) reported the claim that Obama descended from Jefferson Davis (which has since been determined to be probably untrue) three years ago. This particular version of the story first appeared in the mainstream Baltimore Sun and has a fair number of hits on Google News, so I don’t see any MSM coverup.

Well, down here in the US, you probably understand, our parties’ candidates are selected by the primary process.
I won’t try to describe it, as it would be easier to look it up on the internet.
The only thing that I can say that might not be obvious in Canada is that the Clintons control the primary process for the Democratic Party.
Anything the candidates say now about the opposite party is really designed to affect primary voters in their own party. Because right now, the candidates are trying to get the nomination in their own party, and what’s going on in the other party is not their main focus.
Since the Clintons control the Democratic primaries, all the other Democratic candidates has better watch their backs.
