  1. Oh Kate, they German newsmagazines still can’t get over Jesse Owens winning 4 gold medals at the 1936 Olympics.
Sie sind ja doch schliesslich Alle verrueckt und kann es uberhaupt nicht fassen.
Lieber Kate, dass ist kein Traum, nur Unsinn.
    Wir sind zu schoen!!

  2. Well, there goes another previously useful word down the toilet of Orwellian double-speak. Call for Thomas Sowell, logic emergency telephone please. Oh, screw it, piss on the media.
Meanwhile, my heartiest congratulations to the coaches, players, staff, and fans of the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears. Well done. We’re looking forward to a great bowl, my fellow red-blooded human beings.

  3. I noted elsewhere that it came as a shock to Jays fans north of the border to be told by the always alert US media that Cito Gaston was the first black manager to go to the World Series. I remember thinking, “Holy crap, Cito’s black??”
I sat watching the Bears/Saints game (Da Bears finished what Katrina started…ha ha ha)and wited for the inevitable. And right after the game, on the field during the celebrations, dimbulb Lesley Visser didn’t disappoint when she asked Lovie Smith what it meant to be the first black coach in the Super Bowl. Smith was a gentleman, knowing damn well this was just the start of two weeks of like-minded crap questions. Deep down I wanted Lovie to look at Lesley in horror and say, “Holy crap, I’m black???!!!”
All I’m concerned about is the fact that someone named “Lovie” might win the Super Bowl…

  4. once again, the euro weenies show their complete ignorance of anything that is “North American”. Now, if we were talking about 2 native American coaches, then they might have something. South African officials did travel to Canada and the U.S. in the late 1800’s to get tips on how to segregate a native population(that’s right folks, our reserve system was an inspiration to the apartheidists). As well, was it not immigrants of northern European stock who set up native reserves in NA and apartheid in SA? Damn euro weenie hypocrites!!

  5. All I’m concerned about is the fact that someone named “Lovie” might win the Super Bowl…
Remember, the Super Bowl is a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour…

  6. “Quick: name any three top politicians in Germany with an immigration background*! Or: name any Muslim top politician in Germany! ”
What I find most distressing about Germany and Europe is the complete lack of self criticism. Bush and America are the fault of all the world problems and Europe is blameless.

  7. Fritz – you hit the nail right on the head. My wife is German, fluently bilingual, and with a ton of family over there. When we get together, I have to hold back the vomit. The sanctimonious garbage spewing from them is sickening. Bush this, Bush that, and now they are starting on PMSH. Deranged Bush Syndrome, or ‘bushitis’ as I like to call it, the lot of them. The big question is, who are they going to blame once Bush is gone?

  8. Das Fatherland Ist Kaput!! First Nazism then degenerate statist socialism…when will these poor buggers get it right?
I wonder what the German media’s race obscesses statist socialism media would make of 2 Jewish coaches?

  9. Who cares? German culture committed suicide in WWII. Only a shell is left and a few reilcs of a once great culture. Now their main contribution is sniping at the inheritor of western culture: America.
Don’t agree? Be prepared to arugue that one with Mark Steyn.

  10. “street thug persona”
    “A direct line can be drawn from him to the “street thug” persona of todays NBA and NFL;
what Maha Rushie refers to as “Crips and Bloods without the guns.”
Powerline blog: on Mohammed Ali, aka Cassius Clay: the death of sport.

  11. Well lets not get too sanctimonious here folks..it was not that long ago that race was an ingredient here in the melange that is north American sport..
I think of the shameful ways we treated our native athletic heroes in the past.
We feel somewhat bemused or offended when race is brought into the picture in sports in a questioning fashion..yet see nothing wrong with singling out race when praising our athletes. We all love those magnificent black athletes, boy they sure are built for running, and sure celebrate their black Canadian-ness, but if they lose,or are caught cheating, see how fast “our blacks” become Jamaicans..

  12. kursk, good point, however I would add that this is not the case in the US. There is no racism, I repeat NO RACISM in the US anymore, EXCEPT in the minds of the victim cultists, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et. al. and the Dhimmicrats.
BTW, I grew up in Detroit, perhaps the largest city in the US to experience a massive scale showdown between shites and blacks. But that is now ancient HISTORY.

  13. I view this kind of crap from the Euro Weenies as evidence that We the US and Britain should have allowed Joe Stalin to overrun Germany at the end of WWII ….the whole country would have gone the way of the GDR ……complete economic collapse and would now be much less of a problem.
The benefits would have been boundless!

  14. Obama Barack’s mindless admirers are bigots.
The media fawning over the two black coaches is bigotry.
Those that raged over apartheid South Africa don’t have an angry word to say about Zimbabwe.
For lefties, you’re not racist if you use favourabe bigotry.
    Jerry—-. I love Chinese women.
Elaine: Isn’t that a little racist?
Jerry: If I like their race, how can that be racist?

  15. I hope Manning puts 4 TD’s on the board
I’m sick of the media’s singular fabricated 5 year old storyline.
    “Can’t win the big one”
Win or lose, that’s all that jabbering heads will talk about come Superbowl whenever Peyton Manning is mentioned.
That and, how he almost singlehandedly ended the suffering of all millionaire black coaches, everywhere!

  16. kingstonlad,
I have no EUro-relatives but had a similar experience with a German woman I met who had emigrated to the US after marrying a GI in Germany.
Her attitude was an incessant drip-drip-drip of obnoxious, condescending, ignorant EUro superiority over America. I lost it and told her that we’re less than an hour from an international airport that has dozens of daily flights to Germany, and she should feel free to get on a one-way flight to Germany.
Not only has she not done that but as soon as she became a naturalized American citizen, she dumped her American husband. I guess she was entitled to her citizenship entitlements.
Which brings up a larger concern I have. As Europe goes more and more down the Eurabian drain, the US and Canada are going to be faced with many millions of those EUros who want to emigrate here. Along with their attitudes, they’ll also bring their socialist “entitled to my entitlements” gimme-gimme value systems. They’ll be natural Democrat or Liberal or NDP voters.
If we don’t get our stuff together before this happens, we’ll likewise go down the drain, lubricated with ever-increasing amounts of leftist-statist Political Correctness.

  17. So sad that the blackest city in the US lost out.
Detroit’s black population is more than 80% of its total population, while New Orleans’s black population is between 65% and 70% of its. Or perhaps you meant Detroit, which lost out much earlier in the season (actually, it may well be that Detroit isn’t the blackest city in the US).
Allow me to dissent somewhat from some of the sentiments expressed here. I agree that it should be no big deal that Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy are black. They’re both excellent coaches, and both class acts (full disclosure: I’ve been a Chicago Bears fan since 1959). I have no doubt that both of them want to be judged on their performance as coaches and as men, and not on the color of their skins.
I really don’t think that blacks have gotten a fair shake as NFL head coaches, however. Consider Art Shell. He took over the Raiders’ head coaching job after four games of the 1989 season, and won seven of the remaining twelve games. He followed that with records of 12-4, 9-7, 7-9, 10-6, and 9-7, whereupon he was fired. He then spent eleven years as an assistant coach, and was never offered a job as an NFL head coach until last year, when he took what is in my opinion the worst head coaching job in the NFL, with the Raiders (you can certainly make a case for the Lions or Cardinals, as well). I don’t think that that would have happened to a white coach with the same record.
There are thirty-two teams in the NFL. Approximately 70% of the players are black; the majority of players in the NFL have been black for more than twenty years. I count seven black head coaches for the 2006 season (Crennel, Dungy, Edwards, Green, Lewis, Shell, and Smith; if I’m wrong in my count, please correct me). That seems to be way out of balance.
To be fair, I don’t think that the problem is mainly a matter of reluctance to hire black head coaches. Rather, there is a distinct shortage of black head coaches in NCAA Division 1-A football, which is a common step in the career path to becoming an NFL head coach; I believe that there were three black head coaches in Division 1-A in 2006. I also suspect that blacks are under-represented among coordinator and other top-level assistant coaching positions in the NFL, although I don’t have any figures for that.

  18. I am not sure what that says but I will comment anyways. heh
IMHO, American blacks are the ones who need to call the Euroweenies and the lefties on this crap. Chicago is a very black city too and many of the black families in America have ‘roots’ that go back centuries. My American black friends and acquaintances are rightfully insulted by ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations’. Pres. Bush nailed that one.
As for American blacks being more ‘acceptable’ if they are in entertainment, in my experience that is sometimes true. But more so in places like Montreal, where American black entertainers are given warm receptions (especially if they look like Josephine Baker) but one rarely encounters other American blacks be they doctors or tradesmen. In the USA, American blacks are workers, tradesmen and professionals in every area of American life.

  19. Typical. With the leftist Europeans, not to mention leftists here, it’s all about race. Never merit. These two coaches got there because they’re good, not because of the colour of their skin.
    Leftists are racists.
“Super Bowl as Victory Against Apartheid”
    Is a racist statement.

  20. Silicon Valley Jim: Blacks are 12% of the population so by affirmative action they should have 3 or 4 head coaching positions of the 32 teams. Given that there are 70% black players obviously there is racism in the NFL against white, latino, oriental and native americans.

  21. Touche, Eugene; I’m sure that there’s a better way to phrase that. Perhaps “blacks have constituted a majority of NFL players since the mid-1980s”.

  22. Dave – right on, I can see a mass influx of Euroweenies after they are finished trashing the mother country. They’ve refuse to defend western values, protect their own cultures and have drained their treasuries for decades. They definitely need a few attitude adjusting, humiliating and terror stricken decades* in their burqas before we should consider asylum.
    *French = centuries

  23. Wow, so two African-American Black Coaches are rivals at the Superbowl this year, wow , amazing.
Leave it to the MSM to play the race-card to point this out.
It’s a damn shame the MSM doesn’t mention that Archy Manning Ex-Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints is fixin to get some reparations of his own. Archy’s son Payton Manning, Quarterback for the Colts, has done what his Dad couldn’t, take his Team to the Superbowl Game.
What a feather in the cap for a Dad, No ?
But, instead, as usual, the MSM blackballs a Golden Opportunity to promote a White Male.
Why am I not shocked ?
    ,

  24. As a Canuck down here I am always perplexed at the “first black whatever to whatever” syndrome. I am always anoyed when MSM and politicians attach the race tag to anything. Listening to the broadcasters in both games was positivily disgusting when they went on their black coach gushing.
I admire these coaches because they brought their team to the superbowl, not because of the colour of their skin. Oh, and for the record, Bears by 4 but only if the defence can keep Manning from going deep (or doing too many commercials).

  25. Blacks are 12% of the population so by affirmative action they should have 3 or 4 head coaching positions of the 32 teams. Given that there are 70% black players obviously there is racism in the NFL against white, latino, oriental and native americans.
Look, I’m not a fan of racial quotas, whether tricked out as “affirmative action” or anything else. I want a level playing field. I’m white, but I believe that the fact that students of Asian descent are over-represented at, say, the University of California at Berkeley is the result of merit, probably produced by hard work on the students’ part, motivated by their parents’ belief in the importance of education and hard work. I think that most imbalances like that are due to superior performance. That applies to NFL football players.
I’m certainly not in favor of any sort of racial quotas (including the “Rooney rule”) in hiring NFL head coaches. I think that the superior performances of coaches like Tony Dungy at Tampa and Indianapolis, Lovie Smith in Chicago, and Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati have opened many eyes; I certainly hope so.

  26. Germany is a collective group of emasculated naval gazing wussies that have voluntarily chained themselves to a politically corrected past. The testosterone is long gone. All that’s left is a seeping cesspool of guilt and angst hidden in their Black Forest.
Germany has no enlightened heart to exert any consistent and meaningful progressive effort in the world outside their borders. Although supplying WMD technology to the highest bidders is a booming business.
It’s no surprise that Germany pre-occupies itself with finding the specks in their neighbour’s eyes.
