I don’t know why you are even a finalist in the Weblog Awards. Your Small Dead Animals is utterly and completely BORING. Blah blah blah politics and such, and very conserative and small minded. See, its ok for Liberals to cheat because they know so much better than we do what’s good for us. After all, look at all those families spending their tax returns on beer and popcorn.
In the Best Blog category Daily Kos made a tremendous surge past Little Green Footballs, in just one day, coincidentally at the same time people were posting at KOS about how to electronically defeat the cookied restriction on voting. So, yeah, it appears the left does cheat as aggressively as possible, without any qualms.
Also noticed KOS went from nowhere to past LGF overnight.

You can delete all the cookies you want in your browser, but if you don’t release/renew your IP address, it will be pretty obvious you voted more than once in the same day. Even if you do release/renew your IP, most cable subscribers have a constant IP address and their multiple votes will also be found out. Should be very interesting to see what the final results are in the Best Blog category.
That’s what I alluded to when I first mentioned that this is an audited vote. They scrutinize the logs for multiple ip address, and subtract those votes. All cheating accomplishes is to create more work for the admins and embarrassment for the supposed beneficiary.

Reminds me of all the complaints about voting machine ‘irregularities’ in the US. Liberals are pathological. For example – as pathological cheaters, they believe everybody is a cheater. Therefore, when they lose, it’s because the winning side won at cheating and then naturally claim victim status. Hypocrisy doesn’t even register in their thinking. Neither does any other immoral action on their part.

The fact they have found NO violations in the voting pretty much invalidates the entire contest. It will be a happy day when we finally see the end of these useless Internet polls.

Congrats Kate . As well , you’ll be happy to learn you’re a “Large animal ” . According to The Truth Laid Bear , which beats a ” Slithering reptile ” or ” Insignificant micro – organism ” any day of the week , I’m pretty sure .
I sit corrected. They have adjusted Best Education Blog for some voting ‘irregularities’.
Since they are apparently only using IP addresses to filter out multiple votes, any household using a router and multiple computers will all have the same IP address, so they are ‘cheating’, even though their likely intent was not to cheat.
And when you consider the way IPs are assigned by ISPs (cable vs. DSL/dialup) and the fact that IPs can be masked, there is almost no way that they can validate their results. Pretty funny stuff.

Even if it occurred to someone to vote for their favourite blog twice in a day, the system won’t let you. They’re very particular, as I mentioned in another thread, even to the point of the exact hour that you voted.
One night I voted @ midnight, and when I tried to register my vote the next day at an earlier time (I wanted to go to bed early) I was told, politely, firmly, and in print, that I wasn’t eligible to vote until 24 hours from my last posting.

Well, I’m caught out. I didn’t read the other posts before posting mine. My bad. (This is something I hardly ever do. LOL)
I wouldn’t have a clue how to manipulate the cookies (???) and IPs (???) to be able to cheat.
I’m predicting that all of this IT stuff, as much as I enjoy using it, is going to be the end of us. When enough cheaters have figured out how to rig all the systems, we’re fried.
But remember: The rest of us will go to Heaven.

Gormley doesn’t have that much effect, I only got about 8 hits extra when he read my blog address, but I suppose it could be different if there’s a story focussed on the blog instead.
Re: your mail. I’ve noticed a frightening common denominator to most hate mail is usually a lack of reading comprehension – usually a combination of poor reading skills, and a tendency to want to read things a certain way, which leads to a hell-bent attempt to see it that way, regardless of all evidence to the contrary. This one is a textbook example.

Interesting also are the comments of one of the Edmonton Journal writers. He feels that the new gov’t in AB is nothing but a bunch of middle aged guys who are about to take us back to the 1960’s, not forward. The wails that seem to be coming out in the press as regards the voting/cabinet selection results don’t reflect the inane (my word) policies of Official Bilingualism and the extreme political correctness that have been fostered over the years.
The voting public asked for change (a major correction) and this is it. Now let’s judge the results on competence.
