  3. Don’t think so, Bob. I’ll wait for the leaders’ debates. I think Harper is getting better and better with experience. Funny how Harper is constantly being written off (remember June 2004).
    Let’s wait and see. I honestly think that Canadian voters aren’t entirely stupid. As for Quebec, they might even pick up seats… do you think the Bloc will take votes from the CPC? The Bloc support has, I think, peaked.

  4. And another thing, do these bone-heads not realize pulling out of a war means defeat and all our men have died in vane? Of course not, it never crossed their freaking pea-brains.
    It is a tragedy of war to be killed in battle but it is a supreme tragedy to die in vane. We have to cintinue,in spite of the mealy mouthed reporters of CBC ilk and socialist windbags, who should be long-since gone to seed.
    Mr. Harper, call the CBC to heel or can it in it’s present from. We cannot pay for biased reporting, it’s scandalous in a democracy.
    Anyone else livid on this one? Is it time to hit the streets on this latest outrage from the NDP?
    How can they even think our troops are terrorists and then lie that they support them? LIARS, FREAKING LIARS. Beyond the pale.

  6. Bob,i can pretty much assure you Oshawa will remain CPC in the next election.People here,majority being autoworkers,look at the big picture in Afghanistan.Years from now Canada will be commended for its efforts and sacrifice there.
    As for the other seats,i don’t know but my guess is you are wrong about many of those mUCH like you are about Oshawa.
    I think you greatly underestimate Harper’s abilities,particularly when the real election campaign starts and the cameras and questions are focused on him and Layton.Layton looks like a buffoon,Harper a PM.

    I doubt many Canadians will go along with our troops being called terrorists by Taliban Jack. That’s a big stick to pull out and beat the NDP over the head with at the next election – not to mention the rest of their anti-Canadian resolutions.
    Seems they haven’t figured out that Canada isn’t Cuba, and therefore is an unlikely place for their dreams of a peasant revolution. They’re the authors of their own destruction – and it’s a fine thing to watch.

  14. I would very much like for Smilin’ Jack to keep on with this “courageous campaign” of his. The more he talks cut-and-run and deal with Al Qaeda, the more his fellow Dippers rage on about Canadian Forces soldiers resembling the SS storm troopers the better.

  25. The majority of Canadians are against the war. This issue and others will bring down the Tory gov’t. Harper is trying to be a president. This is not a republic we are a democracy. Canadians will not put up with him and his party much longer. We tried American style now let’s go back to our own Canadian way. We have a distinct different angle to life than our American oppressors.

  31. A lot of military leaders in our army want to fight. It’s almost like war games with real bullets. These are mostly young boys and girls full of piss and vinegar who were trained to fight. Now they have a chance. And what are they supposed to say?? They are wrong to be there?? They must be getting disillusioned when their best efforts fail??? These soldiers think they are doing a good honorable deed by being there. They have good intentions but are fighting for the wrong reason. They fight because our little Hitler/Harper obeys the USA. You can only help a society who wants you to help them. We should withdraw as soon as possible before we’re in the same boat as Americans…………hated by everyone.

    Funny you should mention the all-too-common leftist characterization of anyone who disagrees with the socialist vision of utopia as being a “nazi” or “Hitler”, considering that the NDP, before their name change, when they were the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, voted against Canada declaring war on Nazi Germany at the outbreak of World War 2 in September of 1939.
    As for your views on our men and women in uniform, I find it utterly disgusting, cowardly, and bordering on treason, granted it is well within the bounds of the far-left wingnut belief in the military being a bunch of baby-killers.
    The Canadian Forces are not in Afghanistan becuase Harper wanted to be Dubya’s lapdog, they are there because Canadians were killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11, and the Liberal government of Jean Chretien, supported by the PCs and Alliance voted to send our soldiers to hunt down those responsible.

  33. It’s stupendous to think we have people who think Armies of Soldiers are just for shovelling snow or helping out in disasters, sort of glorified Boy Scouts.Duh!
    Armies protect their nations from attackers and thus their sovereignty. Any Nation which is not prepared to protect it’s citizenry is up for grabs.
    Sometimes they have to protect us from the enemy in far-off lands, as Afghanistan, by fighting them on their own turf. We take the fight to them where it belongs, it was their call to spawn and train terrorists to kill innocents throughout the world.
    We are fighting the scourge of the 21st century and it’s NOT BUSH’S WAR, it’s a world war on terror.
    No point in explaining it to “ok4ua”. Some folks only learn “the hard way”.
