  1. Congratulations. I only recently discovered your site in my quest for a Canadian counterbalance to the onslaught of one sided viewpoints in the national and local media. Your site provided me with exactly what I was looking for. You are constant source of links presenting the other side of the most important stories of the day. There is nothing else out there that compares, and the point/counterpoint posts make for fascinating reading, even if some are bit out there on both sides of the spectrum. Thanks.

  2. Kate, I started linking to your site ( and Angry’s ) during the runup to your election- each of you often got into things days or weeks before the Drive-By Media even noticed. If they did at all.

And I am pleased to continue to do so. A tip O’ the hat to you.

Just an old Keyboard Cowboy, ridin’ the Trackball into the Dawn of Information…

  3. Bravo, Kate! You’re a Canadian treasure for sure. (Are you sure you want to be in the same category as June Callwood? I guess you really don’t have a choice!)
    Lucky us. Many thanks!

  4. Oh drat! I’m only number 3,000,809. And I wanted to be the one.
So what now? Where is the next challenge Kate? Dare I say a book is in the works or would that be wishful thinking? Canadian version of Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin?
    Anyhow, congratulations Kate.

  5. Congratulations on providing *The* site to poke at the status quo.
And thanks for highlighting so many good reads.

  6. As a senior, I go to your blog every day and really enjoy it, it is informative and current and keep up the good work Kate!

  7. Congrats Kate.
I thoroughly enjoy your blog and your perspective. Its refreshing to read someone who honestly says what they think
I look forward to the next 3 million !

  8. ” Canadian version of Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin?” -Texax Canuck
–Well, for quite awhile now, Kate has been sharing the sidebar of The Canadian Sentinel with Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin.
I would say, therefore, yes. Perhaps more to the Malkin side, owing to the frequent blogging.
    Me? I’m just me. 🙂

  9. Three million visits.
    How cool is that.
I have read your site for quite a while and I too think that you really hit your stride during the last election.
And I am soooo looking forward to your coverage of the upcoming Liberal leadership convention./s
In my biased opinion, sda is usually one of the most topical blogs and not just from Canada but from anywhere.
There is plenty of good info spiked with great humor and insight and a good variety of reactions and opinions in the comments.
    Thanks Kate and congratulations.
I can imagine this site is a lot of work and I very much appreciate your efforts.

  10. High Fives, Kate! 🙂
I stop by SDA every day, at least once or twice. This blog has what much of the MSM does not, credibility.

  11. Congratulations on the number of visitors.
I’m one of the new people, but I have to admit its my morbid curiosity (to read what the always angry have to write) that gets me to drop by.
Here’s to the next three million visitors.

  12. Stephen Harper is the best!
    Stupid Dippers!
Killing Poor people will make us safer!
    Let’s build a missle shield!

  13. B. Hoax Aware is a senoir. All my life I, and those around me, had to put up with the MSM’s intentional junky reporting of the “news”. NO MORE !! The Internet and QUALITY sites like SDA has changed my life. For centuries the political-media-hackeys could get away with truthfully-challenged news stories. The real story took days, months even years to perculate to the surface, in books or whatever, or just by osmosis through the citizens of Canada. But by then the media had gone on to the next story du jour. Well no more. Kate and others have the truth up-and-running in a matter of minuites, if not AHEAD of the we-report-you-decide journalists.

  14. Edward, anger’s not a bad thing if there really are things to be angry about. (Denial and appeasement are much worse, I think.)
As long as sda contributors know the facts, keep things in perspective, and offer some positive solutions, that’s a good thing.
Kate’s site is a bracing antidote to the opiates of the insidious MSM, which use their powerful position to mislead Canadians.
    Go, Kate!

  15. Go girl, you go . . . . best wishes from the 40 Below Canadian for 10 million more visits.
I can only hope for a headline one day
“CBC replaced by a Small Dead Animal – Citizens Applaud”

  16. B. Hoax Aware, my parents are seniors, bewitched, I’m afraid, by the CBC. I’m so glad that sda has given you what you want and what we all deserve. Your post made me smile;-) Thanks so much!

  17. OooooH OooooH…what did I win, what did I win?
A ride on Kate’s motocycle along Sask Highway 368?
    The Calvert Trail Hellway?
    But congrats Kate!
    😉

  18. Dear “MSM” – the only time a visit records any time at all is if they click on a second page. As the vast majority enter SDA through the main page, most visits record 0:00 time, regardless of how long a visitor spends reading it.
That information was readily available had you bothered clicking the “details” function available at sitemeter.
That you failed to do any research before entering this snide commentary is hardly surprising under the circumstances – after all, you have chosen the letters “MSM” as your identity.

  19. Kate, you provide a smart and very thoughtful forum. I found you because Mark Steyn, the great one, mentioned you as a neat blog he read.
Thank you for your time and effort. Your piece of real estate where Yanks, like myself, and Canadians can engage together in our common roots, especially after the-French-named-what’s-his face, is priceless. Call me enthocentric, but, there is a special bond of values between English speaking peoples.
    Thanks, Kate.

  20. Thank you Kate! Your site has become one of the “daily must read” sites. The coverage of the election, First Nation issues, the list goes on. You are: Simply the Best! (as Tina would say!) Please keep up the great work.

  21. An average of only 1:29 minutes per visit? That really surprised me. I spend WAY more time than that and so do many others. Thanks, Kate, for the explanation.
MSM, why don’t you stay awhile and find out about all the “really interesting stuff” here?

  22. Edward,
If you want to read what the “always angry” are saying, Kate today provided a link to what the “progressive left” are saying about current events.
    Those people are frightening.
Thanks for all your efforts Kate!

  23. Thanks for the kind words – as I’ve said often, the credit goes to the readers who send along so many good tips here and by email.
I’m somewhat surprised at the traffic being sustained over summer. I expected a drop, and it hasn’t happened.

  24. “That you failed to do any research before entering this snide commentary is hardly surprising under the circumstances – after all, you have chosen the letters “MSM” as your identity.”
Hehe…….. one of the reasons I visit here often, plus I have always been keen towards down to earth farm “girls” that speak their mind and in your case work wonders with the written word.
Thanks for all the hard work Kate as well as the links.

  25. Best Blog on the internet, and best comments. I read your blog everyday, 3 or 4 times.
    Keep up the great work.

  26. “Call me enthocentric, but, there is a special bond of values between English speaking peoples.”
Yeah, but it’s called xenophobia. Is penny your name or your value as a human being?

  27. I concur with Jdot in there remarks. This is the first blog I visit when logging on.
Over the years I have been on many chat rooms, message boards & the first blogs that started from The Home page fad.
There have been many fads online since I first logged onto Aol 3.0 .
This one, has left its infancy into a cascade of instant information retrieval. If not the best tool yet for hoax busting. It just expands & becomes more mature. The information rate of data real-time is
    astounding.
For a news junkie like myself this is nirvana.
Your summation is much better than mine. Personally I think most folks post about issues they really feel something about. I believe communication is the driving force of life in some respects. Even cells in our body’s do the same. An everyman’s printing press, with billions of years of experience to tap from living experiencing brains ( Moon bats excluded, since they have no thinking organ but Dogma).
Your blog is one of many changing the World. Mostly for the better I believe. Its an ignorance stomper!
Thank you Kate for the time, talent, & social concern it takes to run a successful blog. Such as yours surly is.

  28. All the qualities of a good Canadian flavoured blogsite. New revelations on a regular basis. Blow by blow of the important events that affect us all. Less and less of the small stuff and name calling.
Bloggers are learning that name calling merely means the frustration of defeat and advances nothing.
So three million and marching on. Great! The place where most of the clued-in come to stay caught up.
Remarkable achievment. Not an easy thing to do. Of course we do not always agree, but then that can be fun too..eh? TG

  29. “Thank you Kate for the time, talent, & social concern it takes to run a successful blog.
    …..Such as yours surly(sic) is”.
Oh my. Is there such a thing as a freudian typo?
    That’s brilliant if it’s not a typo.
Joking aside, don’t ever quit. That goes for both of you: SDA and Revnant D.

  30. Kate: “I’m somewhat surprised at the traffic being sustained over summer. I expected a drop, and it hasn’t happened.”
…everyone’s staying inside, too hot out there, you know, global warming et al…
    😉

  31. red ant :
    Nope. Blame the Outlook spell checker. Besides when I was on AOL. I considered myself for many years, as the worst speller there. I sometimes think God invented the spell checker, just for little ole me. (O:}

  32. Kate,
Congrats on the milestone. Question for you, though.
You are from rural Sask. so do you consider your local paper to be MSM or is it basically just all the daily papers, radio and TV? I, for one, consider my local paper to be a good source of news (even though it only pertains to people in my area of the province, for the most part). Our local radio station is brutal, though. They basically air clip for clip what all other stations air so you can’t take them for what they often report.
    Just wondering…

  33. (Dear Revnant Dream – Just because spell check probably doesn’t flag it and because you brought it up: “their” is the possesive. E.g., their mom, their dad, their province, etc. “There” is as in “here and there”. Good luck!)

  34. I profess great admiration and gratitude for the role Kate clearly plays in the distribution and publicizing of key additional angles on the news.
and she is most tolerant, unlike most political stripes (pun intended). after all she puts up wit’ da likes of me and my preferences for jabbing at the know-it-all wannabes (with emphasis on those steeped in ideology), likewise of all political stripes.
I do however reserve the right to instant retaliation against anyone initiating mud slinging against me and dare ANYONE to show any instance I have ever done that FIRST.

  35. so who did it ???
who is numero trois millione ???
anybody do a screen capture as proof ???
