20 Replies to “Those Crazy Headline Writers!”

  1. This ranks right up there with some other great headlines:
    “Cool temperatures linked to frost.”
” Strike is likely to last , if it isn’t settled quickly”
    ” Iraqi head seeks arms”
” Couple found slain… police suspect homicide”
These people must feel rather foolish when they realize that what was written… and that they all missed it when proofreading their work.

  2. Grant: this is worse; it’s a gross misrepresentation of the truth. What you’ve listed are statements of the grossly obvious.

  3. I recall a joke that goes something like this: A plane crashes on the border of Canwood and Shellbrook; where do they bury the survivors?

  4. That ranks up there with Paul Martin’s vociferous contention that sexual preference and marriage are in the Charter. People knew for themselves that he was mad.
That which clearly isn’t so cannot credibly be claimed as being so.
An amusing brainfart, though. Whoever made the error must’ve had other stuff on the brain and needs a longer vacation.

  5. This is amusing.
I don’t know what all the criticism against the MSM is all about. Sure they’re slanted and pretty inaccurate most of the time.
You have to remember that journalists are taught to write in a certain style and it’s forbidden to break the rules of that style. Besides it’s a business that has to make money and the only way to make money is to sell product. Bottomline, it’s about product, responsible journalism comes second.
All I can say is; so what, if you don’t like it, just ignore and get over it.

  6. Oh, come on, folks. This must have happened on Sunday, and the fellow was resurrected instantly. I like good news stories with sad headlines !!

  7. But what if the headline isn’t inaccurate!?
This could be the Sunday Morning Of The Living Dead!

  8. I was the caller to Gormley. I brought up a letter to the editor of mine that was published back in February. The letter is a comment that I first made here on SDA in January. In the letter I bring up about T.C. Douglas’ thesis intitled ‘”The Mentally and Morally Sub-normal Family”. The Star Phoenix changed the word sub-normal to sub-human, which the lefties then used to discredit me. I was pissed. My wife called them, they gave her a weak apology and promised a correction that no one has ever seen.
A prime example of the lies and bias the left-wing MSM. The best part is that the proof of their lies is right here in the SDA archives.
Got to go, I’m writing from the Husky Truck Stop in Golden, B.C. on my way to Vancouver, or “The Beach” as we truck drivers call it.

  9. If any of you have ever read any of the Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader Series of books, you could revel in some of the idiotic things that come out of people’s mouths and not just in newspaper headlines.
