Busy Day

I’m up to my ears in deadline work today. As if that isn’t enough, I actually received an email from some blogger I’ve never heard of, issuing a “challenge” for me to criticize some decision Harper is supposed to have made.
I suggest said blogger check Technorati, and find out how many people out there routinely refer to; disagree with; misquote; misrepresent; misattribute; misappropriate; and just plain rant about me, my blog and my opinions – before presuming that any such “challenge” is likely to generate a response.
I don’t care if you think it’s important. There aren’t enough hours in a day. I’m not making an exception for you.
Reader tips in the comments, and open thread.
‘Till later.

  1. It already has garnered a response…an angry one at that:
OK. Who the fuck do you think you are, that you would
    a) presume to tell me what to post
    b) issue a “challenge”
    c) assume I even know about the story
    d) give a fuck what you think?
    Don’t reply.
Doesn’t take much to get under Kate’s skin.
She is also a hypocrite, criticizing the Liberals for Maryantonett Flumian, and then remaining silent on this:
    http://www.tdhstrategies.com/home.html
    Typical.

  2. Hi Kate; I was wondering when you had time for your own work. Thanks for all your work on this blog.

  3. So, tdhStrat, what’s your point? If I remember, SDA commented on that story a while ago, you might check the archives. Plus, what occured was a demotion not a promotion.
As for Ms McMillan’s skin and its relative thickness, I know nothing. But having had a look at your site, I would suggest delaying your Mensa application for a couple months or so; that and you are no gentleman.
    Cheers
    JMH

  4. Now he’s been given a hell of a lot more attention than he should have.
Last I checked, he used her personal email address, that’s how she gets to tell you “what the fuck to post.”
Take a long walk off a short pier, you Liberal blowhard.

  5. Hey TDHStat – IF Kate actually got paid for her Blog – well then “maybe” we could expect her to comment on the issue. But as she does this in her own spare time – SOD OFF! Kate – us who quietly linger here enjoy your commentary when you provide it – sure we’d like more – but we would not be so brazen as to demand it. Please keep up the great work – it truly is appreciated by most of us.
And just to cover things off nicely – Kate did comment on this issue when it was initially released – I believe last week. Check your facts before spewing Vesuvius…

  6. Actually, the way I read it, Flumian was made head of the same ministry, and another combined… this isn’t indicitive of a promotion, simply the combining of two seperate ministries, of which she is a deputy of one, and her responsibilities have been increased.
Doesn’t mean they are not going to toast her ass in a couple of months… just means they haven’t got the time to deal with her yet.
You might want to take a pill there TDH.
Harpers been PM for 2 weeks, it isn’t reasonable to assume he’s going to hatchet everyone the first day. Also, she deserves a review like anyone else… how do we know she wasn’t really good at what she did and everyone else around her was shit.
Anyway, it’s not for you to tell Kate what to post or not post. You don’t like it respond to it… or don’t as you see fit.
Kate does a pretty good job. I don’t always agree with some of her posts, but I wouldn’t have the audacity to “insist” she respond.
Perhaps if you worded it in a way which piqued her curiousity or got her attention is such a way as to not think your just another freak bashing at her, you’d get a better response.

  7. It is a promotion.
She has all of her same responsibilities at Service Canada, and now she has been expanded as ADM of a superministry that has now been created:
HRDC has now been combined with Social Development Canada.
Anyway you slice it, that is a promotion.

  8. I have som questions for VDStrategies and his ilk…
Why is it that ‘Liberal’ or ‘Left Wing’ commentators feel so compelled to put the ‘F’ word in all of their comments? I’ve been known to use it on occassion, but they use it like punctuation. LEARN TO WRITE A COHERENT ARGUMENT BEFORE YOU DEBATE.
Why do they automatically assume that bloggers who support a certain politician slavishly obey said politician like mindless zombies? Is it because they do?
Why is the media so worked up about Emerson? It doesn’t seem to bother voters, Harper’s enjoying some pretty sweet approval ratings.
Why do Liberal and Left Wing bloggers feel compelled to ‘challenge’ people who disagree with them, only to revert to childish name calling in place of a real debate? DON’T START A BATTLE WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE THE AMMUNITION!
    Damn, they get me ranting.
Anyway. Great blog and keep it up.

  9. Hey Johnnie,
Checked out your website. Probably had more traffic today than you’ve had in a while thanks to Kate.
Nice site… three year old niece build that at playschool?
No offense Sparky, but maybe you should spend some time working on your own “corporate(?)” image than flaming Kate. It may be time better spent…
For someone in corporate communications, I don’t think I would give you three pence to try to develop an image for my company based on your website.
So please, take a web design class, get out of your basement suite, take your bike to Starbucks, buy a venti and relax… (and remember your helmet)

  10. About TDH Strategies
TDH Strategies skillfully weaves policy research and development, a wide range of communication services & products, and a special aptitude for writing into one entity.
Since its establishment in 2000, TDH Strategies has been able to fill the void existent between communication professionals with little knowledge of the far reaching parameters and implications of public policy and policymakers with an inability to effectively convey a message.
An interview with The Dear Himself?
Is it a full-time job being a clich expert?
Bottom line is I have a full plate 24/7.
How do you know if you’re successful in your work?
At the end of the day, it’s all about robust, world-class solutions.
Is it hard to keep up with the seemingly endless supply of clichs that spew from business?
Some days, I don’t have the bandwidth. It’s like drinking from a fire hydrant.
Do people notice that you’re a clich expert?
No, they can’t get their arms around that. But they aren’t incented to, and benchmarking the metrics is a challenge.
Is it hard to keep up on all the new clichs?
Harder than nailing Jello to the wall.
How do people know you’re a clich expert?
I walk the walk and talk the talk.
Can you anticipate if a phrase is going to become a clich?
Yes. I skate to where the puck’s going to be. Because if you aren’t the lead dog, you’re not providing a customer-centric pro-active solution.
Did incomprehensibility come naturally to you?
I wasn’t wired that way, but it became mission-critical as I strategically focused on my go-forward plan.
    Is your work difficult?
It isn’t rocket science. It isn’t brain surgery. When you drill down to the granular level, it’s basic blocking and tackling.
Does everyone in business eventually devolve into mouthing the sort of mindless drivel you spout?
If you walk like a duck and talk like a duck, you’re a duck. They all drink the Kool-Aid.

  11. hmmm, enough angry people here today?
how about a thank you very much to Kate for SDA on this Valentines Day, hope you get a dinner bought or at least something useful instead of only “rants” and parking meters downtown that don’t have any time left on them… uff.
roses are for rabbits, chocolate is for chicks…
    Marc

  12. No, two ministries have been collapsed into one, and she happens to be a DP in the one which is more powerful… that doesn’t mean she’s been spared… Your judging way to quick.
Regardless, you’ve already made up your mind on this.
Me, I’m expecting bloodshed for months to come.
If I were Harper, I wouldn’t fire anyone yet. I’d sit back, watch the fallout, and insure that anyone I wanted in any position which may engender debate in the next 12 months, wasn’t one of my people. Better to chop wood using Liberals who earned the axe, then to watch innocent Tories get lambasted because enough time has gone by to convince the public they buggered something.
Patience is key for the next half year at least. don’t forget that the Liberals ruled for 13 years. You don’t just pick up the movie and expect it to contain all the nuances of the book its based on do you?
Tell you what, if she’s still there by June, call me whatever you want… but I bet that if she is the fuck-up you think she is, she won’t be.

  13. Is it just me, or should the slogan “solutions for everyone” actually be revised to solutions for everyone…if you are a Liberal? Reading through, that seems to be the obvious inference. How’s that for indignant?

  14. Roses to Kate.
This site is the best. It saves me a tonne of time when looking at what’s going on in our country, our world or occasional tidbits from Saskabush. And SDA links to some great sites elsewhere.

  15. Why don’t the whinners get there own blog site, put up their thoughts and defend their people and wait for KATE to comment there, that is,if they live long enough.

  16. Chin UP Kate you have more to be proud of with this site and your integrity.
I certainly don’t have the stuff it takes to manage a site like this 24/7.
I also very much appreciate your hard work and dillegence.
Just Blow off the dunderhead looking for some free PR.
    Cheers Jeff

  17. Pay no mind to TDH. Even using the ominous sounding “TDH” instead of, say, a real name, is a little creepy and arrogant. When I saw the page I fully expected to see frontpage style frames. They’ve caught a touch of the “opposition syndrome” awfully quick.

  18. Poster: Anonymeme
After only 18 months in power, Martin bailed out on the Liberal party and left them in a total mess … and Emerson’s situation was probably the most extreme having been abandoned by Martin.
So when Harper offered him continuity to his ministerial work in a Conservative govt, he just viewed this as an opportunity to do a businesslike thing to complete his projects for BC.
Of course all the NDP socialists don’t care about accomplishment and only polically exploit the masses …. and the mewling MSM will always follow an easy story …. LOL ..!!! >>>

  19. I just recently started reading Blogs (about a month before the election) and you are, by far, my absolute favorite blog of all Kate. Keep up the great work with SDA and I look forward to your next posting!! I agree with many bloggers that blogs make the MSM pretty much irrelevant. Shame on Bourque for putting this whole Maryantonett Flumian thing as a huge headline on his site – not only is it old news but look at the source!!

  20. Hey TDH: I went and had a look at your site & I can see why you are a frustrated twit, I was there for all of 30sec’s. When your done with the little temper tantrum maybe you should go & learn some manner’s & clean-up the mouth. Respect garnishes respect.
Kate: I agree with alot of writer’s Keep up the great work, We may not say it enough, but I think you can tell how much you are appreciated.
    Rose’s & Chocolates to you.
    Happy Valentines Day

  21. Well, first of I missed reading SDA’s while I was away. Second, Happy Valentine’s Day Kate, I have lots of reading to get caught up on. Third, where did you find this troll???? Nice use of the English language. I didn’t even waste time in checking this blow hard’s site. How pathetic!
TDH: If this is how you talk, we really don’t want to hear from you!!!!!

  22. Hens Love Roosters

    Not me! (spoken by AssHats)
Everyone who counts loves Small Dead Animals!

  23. Doesn’t matter how right good, hard-working, decent and benevolent you are, there will always be the mental defectives that are unable to understand anything and appreciate nothing.
    Go Kate!

  24. Hmmm…just out, Warren Kinsella is suing the operator of Ottawawatch.com for $600,000, allegeing defamation…just made the blogging game a little more interesting.

  25. Why is it that ‘Liberal’ or ‘Left Wing’ commentators feel so compelled to put the ‘F’ word in all of their comments?
Heh, what better Valentine than to watch the left destroy themselves with their shrill shrieks of indignation that only point out their own hypocrisy?

  26. I’m not one to defend TDH, and SDA is one of my ‘must read’ sites to find out what’s really going on in the world, but…
…to all those who are ragging on TDH for using foul language at the start of this comment thread, please note that the section bracketed by: “OK. Who… …reply.” is actually Kate’s e-mail reply to TDH’s ‘challenge’. The original source of the foul language is not TDH, but Kate herself.
Now, you may wish to take issue with TDH for publishing a personal e-mail, but don’t criticize him for something he didn’t say. As it is, I believe that Kate’s main contention with TDH is that he’s trying to attribute to her something that she didn’t say.
    Just my two cents.

  27. and…turning to Pakistan, rampaging protesters torched a KFC, a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut, killing two and injuring 11…
Now I get it, it’s not the cartoons that these barbarians are pissed about, it’s fast food…go figure

  28. Don’t worry about TDH.
The liberals are trying to repair bridges right now and he wants to prove his worth to them so he can get back in the comfy room when they retake power….
Lets not tell him that until Bucky actually submits a written notice to the effect he should do like his buddy Warren does and wait for an invite. Till then the Earnscliffe gang is still in control pulling Graham’s strings.

  29. …open thread? Ho boy!
So this moose walks into the bar…

Besides that, Happy Valentines day to all the lady’s Kate and et al – bloggerettes?
    cheers

  30. in winter, when I was a kid, we used to get free rides by grabbing on to the bumpers of cars and getting pulled along . .
we called it “bunking. TDH is bunking SDA . . getting a free ride because he can’t write well enough to generate any real traffic at his “site”.
Must be an NDP at heart .. always wants something for free and then feels victimized when he gets called out for being a freeloading weenie.

  31. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY KATE.
Just keep doing, what your doing here Kate. Your site is awesome and I wouldn’t miss a day without stopping off.

  32. That TDH also seems to have it in for the Liberals too (see his 2 posts below about the Young Lib president).
Who the hell does this guy support? Or does all he know how to do is criticize.
And using the F word? That was Kate’s reply, people. READING COMPREHENSION!!!!

  33. While all the libs and socialists in Canada have their head firmly planted up Stephen Harper’s bung hole, examining every tiny little twitch and carbuncle, the rest of the world is going to hell in a handbasket. It must sure feel safe and warm in there.
In the meantime, I’m off to LGF where the topics have been much more interesting lately.

  34. And using the F word? That was Kate’s reply, people. READING COMPREHENSION!!!!
Yeah, private reply. TDH is responsible for posting it publicly.

  35. Don’t let the trolls get you down if he was important he wouldn’t be using your blog top try and get his numbers up!
    Go back to babble troll.
Kate Ignores my topics too & I’m not a jerk about it.

  36. Dr Mohamed Elmasry of the Canadian Islamic Congress does not want Canadian troops to fight in Afghanistan; he seems almost to want the Taliban back with a least a share of power. Naturally he is not “surprised” at the suicide bombings there. I expect Dr. Elmasry would not be surprised if the publication of the cartoons led to an increase in suicide bombings aimed at Canadian troops.
“Tout expliquer, c’est tout pardonner” in my view.
“Canadas Mission in Afghanistan Lacks Purpose”, Feb. 3:

    ‘…
…The more people Canada posts in Afghanistan, the more casualities [sic] our forces will experience; and not only the families of fallen soliders [sic] will suffer, but the entire country as well…
The U.S. bombed and invaded [they did not invade] Afghanistan to get rid of the Taliban government because the latter refused to hand over Al Qaeda leaders…As a former American CEO, the only support Hamid Karzai gets is from Afghanis [sic–“Afghani” is the unit of currency] who can personally and materially benefit from his American connections.
One Canadian analyst explained our country’s objective as being, “to limit and then destroy the remnants of the Al Qaeda-supported Taliban, and prevent them from interfering with the construction process.”
But it does not matter how much America hates the Taliban; they are a popular movement with strong grassroots support. President Karzai even said recently he could work with them, but such is the prevailing distrust of Karzai as an American mouthpiece, the call to co-operate was ignored. This desperately unproductive situation leads many Afghanis to perceive Americans — and the Canadians who follow them — as hostile foreigners occupying their country. Is it any surprise that some turn to suicide bombing? [Surely a ritual condemnation of suicide bombings as “un-Islamic” would be in order here?]..
Right wing militarist politicians [Bill Graham? Paul Martin? If only] are trying to sell our ever- increasing military presence in Afghanistan to fellow Canadians, but at what cost?..’

  37. TDH “Strategy” – your communications skills are without compare. I’ve witnessed more sophisticated language elan in the local elementary schoolyard during recess.
Showcasing your dexterity with words such as these pearls that have been shared with us is no doubt going to bring a throng to the door of your fine business.
Besides your talents with the keyboard, might I suggest you also highlight to the many that could benefit from your professional services crash courses in manners and etiquette? That would combine for one compelling package!

  38. You do a great job, Kate. Take it as a compliment that whathisface thinks your opinions important. On that point, and that point only, he is in good company.
    Mark Proudman

  39. Okay, “So this moose walks into the bar…”
and then what??? If I can’t look at cartoons anymore at least I can read funny jokes unless PETA has a problem with that.
TDH = Spoiled Latte-sucking Brat. Don’t insist on everyone playing your game if it isn’t your ball and bat to begin with.
And, at the risk of inflaming some troll who will undoubtably see this as kiss ass: Happy Valentines Day to Kate (Kathy, Candice, Mary, and all the other ladies who blog so elequantly).
    now get back to work…

  40. “I suggest said blogger check Technorati, and find out how many people out there routinely refer to; disagree with; misquote; misrepresent; misattribute; misappropriate; and just plain rant about me, my blog and my opinions – before presuming that any such “challenge” is likely to generate a response.”
    *cough* asshole *cough*
wow talk about self important. Hey what’s the weather like up there on your high horse.

  41. The funniest thing of all is that his site looks like a complete joke. It reminds me of “State OG” from Something Awful.
Whatever. Just another waste of time.

  42. Hey djfreq – like Muhammed Ali said, “It ‘aint braggin’ if it’s true.” There does seem to be some sort of wierd “kate-hate” moonbat cult out there, mostly consisting of people who have problems reconciling themselves with reality. I feel sorry for them, really.

  43. Vox — the F word is a substitute for thought. In comedy it is often used as a substitute for humour. At one time it had a tiny bit of shock value, but that’s long ago. My mother (RIP)about 50 years ago, referred to someone as a c–t (rhymes with runt … mulva?) and I’m still in shock. Er, where wuz I ….?
But seriously, the left have no principles except the principle of the collective trumping the individual in all respects, so they don’t suffer the ignominy of hypocrisy.
With the help of cooler heads here, I have completely retracted my initial moral outrage over the Emerson case; it’s just a kind of silly vanity, really. A form of childish indulgence in “nice” feelings.

  44. i’m not a part of any cult. i don’t hate kate. Actually i don’t have any feeling abuot kate at all. I’m just saying that the whole “look at how good i am” comment was a little well “assholish” to coin a term
