  1. Dingwall was Kinsella’s boss? Dingwall of the Gum Registry @ $500,000+ per severance? David Dingwall:Minister of Public Works in the regime of ex-Liberal PM Jean Chretien?
An aide? To Dingwall? How did Kinsella aide Dingwall? >>>
    Excerpt:
During the public accounts committee’s hearings into Adscam last year, contracts awarded to Earnscliffe arose in testimony from Chuck Guite, who oversaw advertising and public opinion research at public works in the mid 1990s. Guite is the only government official to date facing criminal charges in relation to the sponsorship scandal.
Guite told the committee people in Martin’s finance office tried influencing decisions to award contracts to Earnscliffe.
O’Leary and the Prime Minister’s Office have both denied Guite’s allegations.
At the time this was going on, Kinsella was at public works, working as an aide to former public works minister David Dingwall. >>>

  2. Why is Kinsella’s pursuing a legal court action after giving notice to the defendant and opprotunity to retract/remove the allegedly libellous comments (and having that opportunity declined) some sort of outrage?
Does being a Liberal mean you are somehow ineligble to use legal recourse? Does not being Liberal mean you have some magic shield that should protect you against the consequences of your words?

  3. Warren Kinsella is a dick. If it talks like a dick, and walks like a dick, well then it IS A DICK. Sometimes I have issues with my father, but at times like this I sure thank him for instilling some values and common sense into me. ByeBye Warren, and don’t let the door slap you in the ass on your way out (to pasture, hopefully). P.S. I am a stay at home dad, with ZERO income, so I would love to have you sue my ass too because even if I lose, I would be assless, but it would not cost me anything.

  4. DB – I’m going to assume your asking a serious question. If you read the lawsuit it is very frivolous and seems to hinge on a pronoun “he” that WK takes to mean himself, (not a surprise, given his ego) where quite clearly it is meant to be Guite. That makes the lawsuit frivolous. That it is for $600 000 makes it irrational. Given WK’s propensity to attack others ad nauseum makes the lawsuit hypocritical.
With reasons like that, why would anyone need to even suggest that a Liberal shouldn’t have a right to sue. We’re just saying that a certain back-stabbing, scum sucking, hypocritical, egomaniacal one doesn’t.

  5. Watch out Don, Warren might target you next.
    Are you scared now?

    That run blogs

    I didn’t make this up

  6. Um, folks, we’re not supposed to feed the trolls, even ones named “Don”. Kate’ll get mad atcherall if you engage the trolls!
Just let ’em jump up and down and scream themselves stupid. That’s what they do…

  7. Kinsella once threatened to sue one of the commentors here. The largest libel suit in the “history of the dominion”, is how I think he put it.
Until I reminded him that he’d just threatened to sue someone he knew only as “ebt”….

  8. Oops, sorry. I’m not a troll, my real name is Don, and I’m not jumping up or down (although I should, I could use the exercise). What I am doing is shaking my head at this lawsuit. In rereading my post I should apologize for the words scum sucking. That’s what probably was deemed inflammatory. I apologize. (I think I got it from a joke I heard about lawyers – I didn’t laugh right away as I didn’t realize it was a joke) The rest I stand by 100%, lawsuit or no lawsuit.

  9. WK… Must be getting bored! Lets sue every comment section. This it too funny! Man, these guys need to get a life!

  10. Oops, Don… I had you mistaken for an actual troll named “Don” who’s actually a WK-lover. I forgot to check the email line to see if it was the other “Don”.
    My mistake… do forgive me.
Note to WK: I didn’t mean to imply that “Don” is your “lover”, just in case you got the wrong idea in your leftist paranoia…
And I have no money, so fugeddabout suing me. I’d just countersue ’cause I sure could use a little extra dough…
‘Cause you Librano bastards saw to it that the Maritime economy wasn’t good or big enough to provide real, high-paying employment for all who are well-qualified. Good thing you guys will be out of power for a bloody good long time…
The Atlantic Region just cannot take any more Liberal socialism!

  11. There is a lot of discussion here about what constitutes libel/defamation and what are the available defences. For the benefit and interest of all, I’ve posted a brief primer of Canadian libel law over at Cerberus.

  12. If a person chooses to become a public figure (whether through getting involved in government, in blogging, in professional sports or entertainment) then they must develop a thick skin. Public life is no place for wusses.

  13. Kate, you’ve asked me not to post here, and I have not done so and will not do so again, but you’re dropping my name and I will respond.
Warren had, and has, my e-mail address which contains my name. He wouldn’t find it the least bit difficult to find out who I was and where I live. He could, for example, ask me. He never has. Hell, he could ask John Tory who I am and where to find me, and John would tell him. But he never has.
He had no grounds to sue me, since I voluntarily aksed you to delete what I posted once I learned that it had offended him. (Of course, I posted it in the first place only because he himself was using his site to solicit such posts, but let’s not get into the merits.) He could have sued me if he’d really wanted to. He’d have accomplished nothing. Except get himself into even more trouble than he’s already in.
He’s welcome to sue me any time. I’ve seen a lot of little pissant cowards like him before, and I know better than to be afraid of him. And I know that he can do me no damage at all, whereas it just doesn’t work the other way around.
Warren doesn’t like me largely because I’m an honest and sincere man. And when I say things to him like, “good luck with this lawsuit, Warren”, he thinks I’m taunting him. He just has no idea.
And that’s enough, indeed more than enough, out of me, Kate. If you don’t want to hear from me, don’t call out my name.
