Gratitude

MK Braaten;

Paul Martin has been attacking America this whole election campaign. He has disparaged the Americans so much that our relations with the said country may be beyond repair. However, last week, when the Canadian soldiers were seriously injured in Afghanistan, it was the Americans who rescued them in a helicopter, it was the Americans who flew the injured soldiers to a US army hospital, and it was the Americans who flew them to the hospital on an American transport jet.
And not a word of thanks from the Canadian government?
What a disgrace to our Nation.

Candace at Planet X has a project – she writes;

I think it would be very cool for these guys to wake up to a bunch of messages from Canadians, don’t you?

Go leave yours in her comments section here – she has a contact in Germany who will make sure they get passed along.

  1. Thanks for the link. I hope these messages will lift the spirits of men over there willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us… All of us regardless of where we stand politically, financially, socially or culturally. They are the light in the darkness we must turn to in times of our own struggle. If they can overcome there, we can overcome the petty problems and disagreements here.
God bless our veterans, our active-duty soldiers, our reserves and our leaders. God Bless Canada!

  2. From an old RCAF pilot!
Heartfelt THANKS to the AMERICANS.From the initial BlackHawk Medivac Crew on up the line through THEIR field hospital to THEIR jet transport to THEIR Hospital in Germany for OUR GUYS.THANKS again and God Bless!!!!!!!

  3. as usual the embarasment of being a canadian under a liberal govt. is the first thing you have overcome. then wish all those involved a speedy recovery. and i only wish the americans had the time to pay some attention to what is happening in canada. this angry intolerant liberal crowd governing this country is more of a threat to america that they realize.

  4. thanks USA for supporting our troops while our gov’t doesn’t – thanks to our troops for protecting us and democracy around the world with the limited resources we give you.

  5. Thank you America, even though our govermnent continues to look down thier noses at you, the real working Canadians know how much you do and are thankful for it. Speedy recovery to our men.

  6. Canadians have invested so much emotional energy in hating the Americans, that I doubt we have it in us to express thanks or gratitude as a nation.
In bashing the Americans, we do not build ourselves up; we only hurt ourselves.

  7. Admittedly there is an election on, but if we bloggers can take the time to wish our lads well and thank our American friends for a job(s) well done, why can’t the bloody politicians? ESPECIALLY the ones running the govt now! Echo Kate… ’tis a bloody disgrace! “Lest we forget”
    We didn’t Pauli-boy, did you?
Perhaps we should flood the official lieberal website asking WHEN PM will thank our boys and our neighbours.Afterall Paul….. you ARE entitled! Ya bloody git!
Sorry people… dunno wot came over me *innocent look*

  8. Just like John kerry when he was losing the democratic nomination badly and Dean was winning, he went from pro war to anti war and it worked for him . However he was so out of touch with the American people he lost. Paul Martin thinks he will get votes if he is anti -american. he is wrong I hope he continues with this stradegy. The Conservatives will win big.

  9. Thankyou for doing this link to the troops. As everyone else has posted I to would like to thank our neighbours and friends for helping our boys in their time of need. So sorry for our present PMPM, with luck on our side we will have a new PM that will lead our country with pride and give respect to our friends in the US. May god keep all of us safe, with your help.

  10. thanks for providing that link to send the boys our messages Kate. It’ll be great to have them in one place. Good onya girl! 🙂

  11. This is another example of where this country has descended to in the last half century. The Liberals have made us a laughing stock internationally. They have been so busy filling their pockets and the pockets of their UN buddies that they have forgotten what a great nation this once was. It’s about time we as Canadians ‘Cowboyed Up’, the true Canadian values are at the opposite end of the spectrum to what the Liberals have been espousing for the last fifty years, it’s long overdue for Canadians who value this country and her true values and allies to kick these thieving bastards out.

  12. We should thank the Americans, for sure. Also, that Canadian medic who tied a tourniquet on his own mangled leg and then treated the other two survivors deserves a Victoria Cross.

  13. Canadians, believe me, it is tax money well spent to help out our (Yes!) friends in time of need. God bless these soldiers, and Mr. Berry’s family, and God bless Canada.
Perhaps after this election she will regain her reputation as “the True North, Strong and Free”.

  14. Maybe as a way to thank American efforts caring for our Canadian soldiers we could donate resources (money, equipment, doctors) to the operation of the hospital in Landstuhl. For as long as Canadians are in harm’s way in Afghanistan, it makes sense to prepare in case more hospitalization is needed.

  15. God willing after Monday the 23rd we will be rid of the evil, criminal, liberal trash that has been ruining this country for so long. It will take time to completely recover the pride of this once great nation, but we will, with effort and patience and support of our fellow Canadians and our valued allies. God bless America.

  16. Food for thought: the woman on the ground is part of the “Soldiers’ Angels” movement in Germany (although it seems to be worldwide). If you can, visit the site & donate – even a dollar will help them keep up the good work.
They contacted ME to see if I would like them to check on the soldiers’ progress. How cool is that?
As Afghanistan gets stickier, I sadly predict that we will be calling on them more often than we might prefer.
Cheers & thanks for the messages. I’ll direct them to these comments as well so the soldiers get the full benefit.
Thanks again for the link, Kate.

  17. Thank- you for providing a link for us to say Thank-you to the soldiers overseas who are fighting for the people of Afganistan and Thank-you America for taking good care of the wounded Canadian soldiers. Please excuse that ignorant fool we elected to P.M. a few years ago. He has NO CLASS but LOW. He does not speak for us and our MSM does not speak for us either. People like Kate and her bloggers have been on the side of the right all along.
God Bless Unuited States and God Bless the Canada we will live in if Stephen Harper wins the election.

  18. From 16 January 2006:
    http://rightthinkingpeople.blogspot.com/2006/01/kandahar-canadian-heroes-and-great-big.html
Funny how those e-e-e-evil Americans took care of our soldiers as quickly and efficiently as they take care of their own, isnt it?
Here we have the Prime Minister of Canada, in order to score cheap political points in the middle of an election campaign (that he is losing abysmally), approving ads denigrating the United States and criticizing their President and yet those dastardly Americans were still willing to shrug off partisan politics, pick up our wounded soldiers, and rush them off to the best military hospital in the world outside of the continental U.S.
What do you think of that? Well, here’s what this RightThinker rightthinks:
To President George W. Bush, Defence Secretary Don Rumsfeld, General Peter Pace, the doctors and medical staff of the Landstuhl Regional Medical Centre, and the men and women of the U.S. armed forces:
    Thanks, eh?

  19. Sorry to my American friends for the disgraceful comments that have been the norm from the Ottawa Nomenklatura in the past 4 yrs or so…Let me tell you that people of common sense stand w/you; respectful disagreements= of course! But what we have seen is more that respectful disagreements, it is slanderous!!
Thanks to American forces who helped ours in Afghanistan. Your job in the War On Terror IS highly appreciated.

  20. In keeping with the situation, thank you to all the American servicemen, and women, who helped our guys over there in Ashcanistan and who watch out for my country (Canada) all day, every day. You’re the best in the world.
And a special thank you to every single big hearted, hard working American taxpayer who paid for it all. Your effort is not wasted, and I’m one Canadian who appreciates it. Never mind the Liberals, you guys are the greatest nation in the world.
We have some work to do here in Canada to keep up with y’all.

  21. From an American Soldier…
Thanks to you Canadians, for your troops in Afghanistan. We need all the friends we can get.

  22. I heard the “Make George Bush happy” Paid ad on CBC Radio yesterday. It’s personally insulting to George Bush and Americans in general. It is offensive to everybody.
The more I see of this election ,the more I realise what a brutish, piggish thug of a man Paul Martin is.

  23. Many Americans DO care what happens in Canada. American DO appreciate Canadian Forces fighting in Afganistan. Many Americans DO understand that PMPM is not representative of Canadian feelings toward America.
God Bless this young warriors and God Bless Canada!

  24. It’s not just Paul Martin. Every TV report I saw on it, about four of them, didn’t identify that it was the US military hospital in Germany that was/is treating our wounded. They used phrases like ‘hospital in Germany’ or ‘German hospital’ instead. (And playing games using the word “injured” rather than the more accurate “wounded”.)

  25. I took a more direct route. I sent an e-mail to all my American contancts with a note of thanks. We should all do that.

  26. As an American, I appreciate, and am thankful, that there are Canadians willing to serve in Afghanistan, as there were Canadians killed in the WTC. To be honest, our military has better things to do than worry about what lefty whackos north of the border say, or even what Paul Martin says.

  27. God Bless America! Canadians and Americans are both priviliged to be able to say they live next door to the greatest neigbours in the world! Thank you so much! Canada Loves you!

  28. Stationed in Lahr, Germany as a civilian attached to the Canadian Military from 79-81, I have nothing more than a great deal of admiration for our American Friends. Our Liberal Government is an embarassment, not only to all Canadians, but to our Wonderful Military. Thanks to theYanks again. We know our wounded soldiers are in good hands. To our true friends,
    Many Thanks!!!!

  29. Thanks, friends. A more supportive ally we could never have. Nothing short of absolute Honour, through and through.
