Last May, Belinda Stronach crossed the floor and now she wants her former campaign team to follow. The Liberal cabinet minister is asking the Conservative volunteers who helped her get elected in 2004 to come work for the Liberal party.
“I would like to take this opportunity to personally reach out to you, because you worked so hard to elect me as the member of Parliament for Newmarket-Aurora,” Stronach wrote last week in a letter to the volunteers.
“If you are still supportive and wish to become involved in the upcoming election campaign, I would love to hear from you!”
“Hi! I’m with the Belinda Stronach campaign. Would you like a brochure? I’m here to ask you to vote for anyone but this double-crossing bimbo! ”

What Tories think that Ken? Having trouble naming one? Most thinking people know what BS is all about and she’s not about loyalty or ethical behaviour.
This past summer I was at a party and met someone who volunteered to get BS elected. He felt betrayed by BS because he was not working hard to get her elected per se, but to strengthen the voice of the CPC in Ottawa. He did not vote for the Liberals, and felt that if BS wanted to change parties that she should have resigned her seat and run in a by-election. This is the story of only one volunteer of course, but I imagine there are others like him.
The Tories have enough ammo on her for some really creative ads with her shrieking at Paul Martin for corruption, waste and mismanagement. Have they got the stomach to play dirty like this? It sure would highlight the hypocrisy. They did’t use any of Brison, so I’m guessing they won’t have any of Stick Chick lying her face off either.
I saw a bit on TV last night where they featured a guy who’s putting up signs for BS in the upcoming campaign even though he claimed to be a lifelong conservative. Seemed genuine.
Belinda had the best line: when asked how she expected voters to react to her, she said that she may have switched parties but she still had her principles.
Note to Belinda: you got into the Liberal party precisely because you have no principles. You can’t get in otherwise.

I still don’t understand why the CPC is the perceived party of big business. From the banks to the media to Power Corp, they are solidly Liberal. BS was in the PCs to keep the corporate gravy train running. We are the party of small business, the Mom and Pop operations from farms to construction to donut shops. We are the ones who have to suck it up for government interference, bilingualism, equity hires and reams of paper work. Our taxes pay for an alphabet soup of programs which benefit large corporations in this country. How many CPC members were let in on Mr. Goodale’s little scam? How many CPC members lost money on that little gift to Bay Street?
